Harry Styles’ Body and Soul Baring Performance in ‘My Policeman’ Seduces Toronto and Draws a Standing Ovation

Harry Styles finally showed his dramatic skills and stunned the Toronto International Film Festival at the world premiere of My Policeman.

An emotional, decade-long drama about a 1950s police officer who reconciles an idealistic woman and a secret male lover. Styles appeared with his co-stars Emma Corrin and David Dobson to unveil the long-awaited project.

The cast and their director, Michael Grandage, received a standing ovation following Sunday night’s premiere at the Princess of Wales Theater in Toronto. The applause was cut short thanks to Styles’ schedule – the singer had to take a plane immediately after the performance to continue his world tour.

During a quick Q&A, Styles discussed how he and his co-stars had formed an authentic bond as on-screen pals, and navigated some soulless and disembodied love scenes with the two of them. “To have a basis for real friendship outside of the characters…it doesn’t require a lot of acting. There’s a lot of confidence and security in the more intense scenes,” he said.

The premiere audience was clearly jam-packed with Styles fans, delighted by his move from pop star in sequined jumpsuits and a six-pack to middle-class cop in cords and trousers.

The script contains several hints of what the average Styles character should look like, and all moments are met with laughter from the crowd.

Before the lights went out at the top, Director Grandage expressed his gratitude for the progress made in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights – but said there was “room for more debate” and alluded to the current threats to the gay marriage and anti-trans legislation.

In addition to the main trio, the cast includes Gina Mckee, Linus Roache and Rupert Everett. Directed by Michael Grandage, best known for his work directing stage productions. Producers are Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robbie Rogers, Cora Palfrey and Philip Herd.

Adapted for the screen by Ron Nyswaner from the Bethan Roberts novel of the same name, My Cop follows three young people – a gay police officer Tom (Styles), a teacher he marries named Marion (Corrin), and a museum curator named Patrick (Dawson), with whom he is having an affair. The story unfolds in Britain in the 1950s. Flashing back to the 1990s, Tom (Roache), Marion (McKee) and Patrick (Everett) are still reeling with longing and regret, but now they have one last chance to repair the damage of the past.

“My Policeman” is one of two films featuring Styles to debut at the Fall Film Festival. The actor’s role opposite Florence Pugh in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

My Policeman opens in theaters on October 21st and debuts on Prime Video on November 4th.

Linda Evangelista, the first fashion show after the operation that disfigured her

Linda Evangelista is back on the catwalk after 15 years: the supermodel who hadn’t walked since 2007 and disappeared after the surgery that disfigured herShe plucked up courage and opened New York Fashion Week with Fendi, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of the baguette bag. A parade of stars, but the eyes were only for her, who has been telling her tragedy for the past few months and has returned to work.

Linda Evangelista’s return to the runway

90’s and 2000’s fashion will always be remembered for history’s greatest supermodels: Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. Not only that, among them Linda Evangelista stood out who after a 15-year absence from the catwalksShe’s back on the catwalk, reminiscing about all those glory years.

Linda has also shown everyone how much she is worth on the Fendi runway (for which she will shortly be a testimonial), which opened New York Fashion Week and 25 years of the iconic baguette bag with exceptional guests like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate celebrated Moss. But on the catwalk there were only eyes for her, Linda Evangelista, who appeared in the role of a “blue fashionista”: light blue maxi coat, puff sleeves, long white gloves.

The 57-year-old supermodel seems determined to put her issues aside and reclaim her place on the fashion throne. If Naomi can still walk, why can’t she? Excited but determined, her stride has remained the same, as has her appeal as a timeless icon.

In recent months, the model had already returned to pose for British Vogue in gorgeous shots of Mario Testino that marked her return to work after bad business with cryolipolysis.

Farewells and Returns: Linda Evangelista’s Career

Linda Evangelista’s fashion career has been marked by farewells and returns, even in unsuspecting times. The first retirement dates back to 1999 when, pregnant with her first child, she decided to temporarily leave the fashion industry. The model, however undergoes an abortion in the sixth monthand in 2001 he returned to work. In 2006 she became pregnant againand In 2007 it will be moved for the last timeto celebrate 60 years of the Dior brand.

Linda continues to work for advertising campaigns, fashion magazines, she is always in the spotlight and devotes a lot of time to her son Augustin James, until 2016. Since then, her tracks have been completely lost: the only information comes from her Instagram profile , where it almost never appears, except on dark and blurry photos.

There is talk of gaining weight, and only five years later In 2021, the evangelist explains what happened to her: due to cosmetic surgery gone wrong, cryolipolysis, his face and body remained disfiguredforever, for love handles that, instead of being removed through surgery, have increased in size.

Now the situation seems to have improved, as the latest photos show, and it’s not clear if, after her appeal, she hasn’t resorted to new experimental methods to repair the terrible damage.

Rock in Rio had rock and funk among the best

Rock in Rio had rock and funk among the best, Luísa Sonza 3 times and bass sound; see festival summary

Another highlight of the festival was the presentation of Coldplay, but the sea of flashing bracelets made more sense to those watching from home than to those in the Olympic Park in Rio’s West Zone.

The event also had a double dose of funk “Ai preto”. It was performed twice on the Mundo Stage: Biel Do Furduncinho, Bianca and L7nnon sang in Camila Cabello’s show; and an excerpt was danced by Jason Derulo.

There was also a triple dose of Luísa Sonza. The gaucho singer performed with Marina Sena at Sunset. Then, at the invitation of CeeLo Green and in the tribute to Rock in Rio 1985, she returned to the same stage singing “Love of my life” by Queen.

However, this edition was marred by complaints of low tone throughout all seven days of the festival. Shows by attractions such as Iron Maiden, Camila Cabello, Luísa Sonza and especially Avril Lavigne were badly affected by the low sound power. According to the organizers of the event, “the operation and control of the soundboard is the responsibility of the artist”.

The pampering program at the promotional stands and the uncomplicated purchase of food and drinks were well received by the public. There is also a festival that gives out free water and has so many entertainment options besides music. Cidade do Rock’s large expanse remains an asset, but lacks shade and quiet areas for the 100,000 fans a day.

Another positive point was the Rock Express on the way to the event. The buses leaving Jardim Oceânico and Alvorada took the BRT rail and quickly reached the Centro Olímpico Terminal, leaving cars and even the VIP bus (first class) in the common lanes.

On the other hand, there were long queues for all modes of transport on the way back, particularly on the day of Post Malone’s show, the third of the festival, when fans reported waiting up to three hours to board the Rock Express.

Prince Harry and Prince William had dinner apart on the night of Queen Elizabeth’s death

Royalist is The Daily Beast’s newsletter for all things royalty and the royal family. Sign up here to get it in your inbox every Sunday.

Since a distraught Prince Harry was photographed sweeping through the gates of Balmoral Castle alone a few hours after the Queen’s death and being wheeled out again at 8:30am the next morning, similarly alone to catch a scheduled British Airways flight back to London, the question of what actually happened that night has loomed large.

Now, some answers about those mysterious 13 hours have been provided by Chron Society reporter and columnist Richard Kay, who is widely believed to have excellent contacts in King Charles’ camp.

Kay says that, surprisingly, Harry did not see William at all that night and that by the time William arrived, he had already been taken to Charles’ house on the Birkhall estate.

So the two brothers had dinner separately, and the first time they saw each other was when they reunited briefly at Windsor Castle on Saturday in a carefully staged show of unity.

Kay reports: “Two dinners were held at the royal estate that evening and there was a clear division: one was for the new king and his heir, the other for the rest of the family.”

Kay also dismisses the suggestion that it was Charles who arranged for William and Harry and their wives to get together to see flower tributes at Windsor Castle.

He says that as reported by The Daily Beast, the initiative was William’s. However, Kay adds the compelling detail that the older brother reached out to the younger via text.

Harry confirmed the text and the rest is history.

A source told Kay: “It happened very quickly – quite remarkable considering they didn’t see each other in Scotland.”

A source previously told The Daily Beast that the decision was made to project a united front, a notion backed by an insider who told the Chron: “These coming days are going to be extremely intense and it’s only possible to see them getting through without distraction is a good thing.”

Kay is skeptical that the truce will hold, comparing the situation to football games said to have been played on the Western Front during World War I on Christmas Day, before hostilities resumed on December 26.

A lingering theme for William is Harry’s forthcoming memoir, in which a source says, “William loves his brother, but there’s this trust thing.”

When asked about the chances of a real reconciliation, a source who described Kay as an “informed person” said: “The problem is that they have hardly spoken to each other in two years and there is both anger and sadness about it on both sides. ”

129 Eternal Life Wanted

129. Eternal Life Wanted

“God promises eternal life. We deliver it to your home ». So reads the promotional brochure for a drug, the Chew-Z, that hits the interplanetary market in one of Philip K. Dick’s most baffling novels, The Three Stigmata by Palmer Eldritch (1964), and according to writer Emanuele Carrère, has secretly veered from Take inspiration from movies like The Truman Show and The Matrix. In Dick’s novel, men populate the entire solar system, the earth has become almost uninhabitable from the heat, but to withstand the terrible life on other planets like Mars, the terrestrial settlers procure models with the miniatures of a man and a beautiful woman. If you take Can-D, an ancient hallucinogenic drug, step into the perfect life of these Barbie and Ken characters. That’s why men use all their savings to buy more and more scenarios and accessories of the model and escape from the unbearable everyday life, even if they come back to reality and everything stays the same, they can’t wait to take another dose . . But Palmer Eldritch, magnate of the solar system, discovers a new amazing drug, Chew-Z, which, unlike Can-D, allows you to enter not a model but a closed-to-conscious reality plane of which Dick was the investigator: behind the world there is another world that we do not see, that is content with a staging in which we play along. But what is behind the scenography? An eternal life? And what is it made of?

From the obsession with this unseen layer of reality come the stories that have inspired films and series such as Blade Runner, Minority Report, The Man in the High Castle, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams… For Dick, what we call reality is Paper-mâché that it hides the real. Chew-Z, the new drug that gives access to this level of reality in the novel, doesn’t just allow you to escape to another world like traditional drugs do, but rather to recreate the experience (at least in an imaginary way) to suit your desires formulate. Change of past and present, like in a daydream. With this absolute freedom (even if only imaginary), eternal life at home is possible. But what is the eternal life that we humans, believers or not, need as beings who know we must die? Contrary to what one might assume, “eternal”, also in the biblical language, does not primarily refer to life after death, but that which overcomes death already now, it is life “as it should be” and that we intuitively sense in our desires: a life in which love is forever, working conditions are fair, politics fights for the common good, a child does not suffer…

Eternal life is the life of meaning that we experience in some unforgettable moments that we actually call salvation, like falling in love. Eternal life is not the projection of desires into an unattainable heaven, a religious opium necessary to enjoy existence, but it is desire grafted into the heart that mysteriously knows how things are should and feels called upon to fulfill them. Palmer Eldritch, the evil genius, promises that very eternal life by taking a drug, but there is a very high price to pay for his synthetic eternal life: you fall under his rule. On the one hand we have the escape into lives that are not ours as allowed by Can-D, the ancient drug that projects into plastic lives, the kind of escape suggested by advertising that manipulates our desire for infinity , exchanging it with the endless sum of small purchasable finished products. On the other hand we have Chew-Z, Eldricht’s new powerful drug that allows you to change your past and present by staying in the shape of our desires in an imaginary life and without falls, failures or injuries. It’s similar to what’s happening to us with the internet, where we daydream in an endless cognitive and emotional bubble of space and time. But in this way, to have at least a hypothesis of eternity, we pass our data to the great managers who, by profiling us, guide our future choices: we prefer to become resources that can be exhausted, instead of struggling to be protagonists a real and non-digital eternal life. The loss of our freedom is a price we willingly pay, for freedom compels us to make choices and bear the burden: the masses, therefore, allow small and large dictatorships. But while advertising offers products related to reality (to be happy I must own them), the network that will soon take the form of the metaverse (our profiles will be alive, but in that of God Algorithm shaped world, with consequences well described by Eric Sadin in Critique of Artificial Reason, particularly in terms of the loss of freedom and therefore of creativity and joie de vivre) will offer us happiness without the need for reality or even against reality, like the protagonist of Dick’s novel confesses: taken the drug of eternal life «one cannot escape from it. Even if you think you got rid of it, you’re still trapped in it. It’s a one-way approach and I’m still in it.”

Who of us knows and could do without the network and social media today? Our lives, we beings in search of meaning (we think of ourselves as stories with a purpose), are always built around the idea we have of eternal life: Dick not only saw that eternal life was created by his contemporaries by the Man was manipulated by advertising, but he also foresaw that in the future eternal life would lie in the hands of the inventors of a sweeter and more ubiquitous form of control, a substitute for reality. Surveillance capitalism, as Shoshana Zuboff defined it in her book of the same name, transforms us into a resource from which to draw data, skillfully manipulating our desire for eternal life: the metaverse will be its ultimate realization. As far as I can see, the new promises of eternal life concern the final elimination of the body (avatar in the metaverse and cyborg in the universe) to gain victory over nature and time, the two things that stand still, forcing them to die. In fact, in Dick’s novel, the three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch mentioned in the title are the signs that appear on the body of those who enter his parallel world: one’s own hand, one’s eyes, and one’s mouth become robots, that is, the plot , the looks and the word are no longer human, one becomes happy, yes, but inhuman. We cannot live without eternal life, but we often build it on power, the shorthand of those who believe that it is control, not love, that gives us an identity and a hold on life so strong that even death is conquered: we are like moths burning their wings in the light that attracts them, or birds bumping into glass that is not the sky but reflects it. Whoever has the technique to sell the eternal will always be the lord of the world and offer his opium to the peoples, but we will only be free and happy if we build eternal life on love. A friend who is expecting a child said to me calmly in the face of my fears about having a child in this world: “The nature of this child will only ever be expressed in one thing, how much he is loved and how much he will love , the rest is superficial » He is right: I become eternal, today, Monday, only so much and when I love and am loved it is “the real of reality” that does not require imaginary addictions and escapes, but only a lot Courage and a lot of body For example, I wouldn’t know what to do with an eternal life that didn’t include the tenderness of the hug of the woman I love, the faces of the students I’ve followed for years, the conversation with a friend , the beauty of a mountain panorama or a starry sky in the middle of the sea like I enjoyed this summer, my niece’s happiness when I blow her up, Beethoven’s music or a page of Homer… Eternal life at home is not history not a drug of control, but places where the meaning of life overflows because they are full of love to be received and given. It is up to us to choose where and what these places are and to help build them: our (eternal) lives are at stake.

Anne Hathaway, Christie Brinkley and Karlie Kloss lead the celebs at the US Open Men’s Singles final

The US Open Finals has long been a magnet for celebrities and high-profile people from around the world who want to see the very best in championship tennis in person.

And on Sunday, the men’s singles final continued that tradition as the tournament set new attendance records.

Spectators who witnessed the race of Number 3’s Casper Ruud, 23, of Norway, against Carlos Alcaraz, 19, of Spain, included stars such as actress Anne Hathaway, supermodel legend Christie Brinkley and supermodel Karlie Kloss many other.

Before the action at Arthur Ashe Stadium at the USTA Billy Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, many of the stars stopped to pose on the red carpet, which in this case was blue.

Hathaway, 39, opted for color in the fashion department in a bright yellow skirt that hit just above her ankles and a white cropped top that was unbuttoned at the top and tied in a bow at the bottom.

The Oscar-winner also wore yellow open-toed pumps and carried a gorgeous black handbag, while styling her dark locks long and flowing well down her shoulders, with a parting on the right side.

The Les Misérables star attended the event with her husband of almost 10 years, Adam Shulman, who sat casually in a blue sweater to her left.

It turns out Hathaway was actually sitting amidst a group of very vocal stars including Andy Cohen, James Marsden, Zach Braff and Angus Cloud, all taking turns cheering for their Rudd and Alcaraz.

The always boisterous Cohen, 54, arrived dressed to impress in a green suit with a lavender button-down shirt.

Sitting in front of Cohen was Euphoria Breakout star Angus Cloud, 24, who showed off his unique fashion sense by wearing retro white-framed sunglasses, a black bucket hat that matched his green Ralph Lauren polo shirt and brown trousers .

Marsden, 48, appeared to be equally vocal as the action heated up on the court in a blue suit with a blue and white striped shirt.

But by the time the match rolled into a fourth set, the Superman Returns star had already shed his blazer and donned a baseball cap.

Sitting next to Hathaway and her husband, 47-year-old Braff was animated a few times as he soaked up the incredible stamina and skill of both players in blue denim shirts that he tucked into white pants.

The newly single actor, who split from Florence Pugh last month after a three-year relationship, appeared to have been drawn into the drama of the high stakes match.

Brinkley, 68, showed off her timeless style in a white and black polka dot dress and her blonde locks flowing down her chest and shoulders while sitting next to her son, Jack Brinkley Cook, 27.

Simone Antolini, partner of Cecchi Paone: «They called me an opportunist. But I only seek happiness from him »

by Candida Morvillo

Simone, 23 years old, partner of the journalist and TV presenter. They were painted in a way I don’t deserve. You wrote terrible things that hurt me

Simone Antolini, 23 years old, blond mop, young Jew Law face, an infectious smile, until a few days ago he was the darling of the town in Le Marche, where he lives, studies law and where he has been with his family since he was sixteen behind the back counter of a 0 km grocery store helped. Then he was paparazzi kissing with Alessandro Cecchi Paone and the homophobic insults were so numerous and so violent that he had to close his Facebook page. For me it was the end of the world, he says today.

Why the hell?

I am young and very sensitive. Neighbors, people I see every day wrote terrible things that hurt me. They are the same ones I have served at the counter for years. Today, while waiting to graduate, I take care of the accounts and administration of my father’s farm, I know everyone and everyone knows me: I didn’t expect a similar reaction in my own community. Among other things, it was written that I’m 26, but I’m 23, and there was absurd speculation about it.

Like an extracurricular student taking advantage of Cecchi Paone to get famous?

S. I was painted in a way I don’t deserve. My studies are good, I have good grades, I can’t wait to finish my studies and take part in public administration competitions. The comments of strangers didn’t bother me, those of people who could be my friends’ parents, my schoolmates, who I could be the son of, hurt me. Up until a few days ago I was loved by everyone, I think appreciated as a nice and kind boy, suddenly I was dealing with people who transformed me from appreciation to disgust. One asked me: Does it at least pay you well?

how do you explain so much hate

I had not disclosed my condition yet. I wanted to do it with my parents first: they knew I was with Alessandro, maybe they were imagining it, but I hadn’t had the opportunity to dialogue with them. So everyone thought I was straight and now they think he went gay to be famous.

And you don’t want to be famous?

i love cinema But the only audition I attended was a demonstration that it’s better to think about your studies first.

stumbled across a MeToo case?

A fake audition. With a director who either asked me for money for a course or an alternative, let’s say for free. I went and began studying with a calm heart.

How did you meet Alessandro?

I wrote to him on Instagram. I got out of my first gay relationship. Before that, I had a girlfriend for four years and had many doubts. Watching TV during the pandemic, I discovered that Alessandro had a wife. The similarity of experiences made me follow him on social networks. We wrote to each other. I met him in Rimini. We started talking a lot. It was April. In him I found someone who understands me and protects me.

Alessandro is 38 years older than her. Isn’t it too many?

It makes me feel good and what matters. I’m totally lost by him. Ever since I came into my life I feel secure about who I am, it sparked an interest in art, science, history in me. I can listen to it for hours and it has made me double focus on my studies. It added a desire to get better to my life.

And what do you think you added to Alexander’s life?

freshness. He says he’s rejuvenating with me.

His generation is said to be gender specific and want no labels or barriers. because?

I also agree with the definition and can say the same about my peers, but the attacks come from the over 40s and many children do not live freely for fear of the toxic judgments of the older generations.

How open and understanding are your parents?

They weren’t happy to hear about a magazine but now they just want me to be happy and find my peace of mind. And I, bad comments aside, found it and want to keep it around.
