It is inevitable to think of you after days of paging, obvious and natural, for your good gesture of guaranteeing the historic Varazzina Chocolate Factory a solid future in the post-Covid crisis, for its collaborators in even greater numbers than in the past .
Only time decides the success of individual companies, but I have no doubt that together with your partners it will be another success.
However, when I hear you repeatedly speak of a gesture of love towards your grandparents, with a special devotion to the children of today’s Varazze, I have to confess an aspect that simply does not return to me, a proud villager.
I say this as a Ligurian reporter who has made his professional commitment the North Star by focusing on a journalistic struggle together with Primocanale to give equal dignity to Pentema and Alassio, Recco and Arenzano, Varazze and Portofino.
Here’s the point you already got.
But why does someone like you, presenting the world with such an ambitious project for your hometown, have to go straight to the Piazzetta and refrain from inviting the number one in international cuisine and pastry, with an attached media parade, to the factory’s headquarters in Varazze?
Why not take such an opportunity to show how this municipality has recovered from the terrible floods of 2010, what tourism future is on the horizon after an industrial past that has never been given up and, for example, what an extraordinary paradise it is for surfers from all over world has become Europe?
After all, Fabio Fazio doesn’t need a Portofino and, no offense, not even the opposite. But Varazze yes.
Furthermore, I don’t think that for someone like you, the simple justification of marketing and a brand “Portofino”, undisputed driving force for all Liguria, could be worthwhile.
