Demonstrators call for peace outside Russian embassies worldwide amid Ukraine invasion threat

Thousands of demonstrators in cities across the world took to the streets tonight to call on Vladimir Putin not to invade Ukraine after the U.S. warned the country’s government that Russian troops are ‘ready to go’.

Images showed protesters outside Russian embassies and elsewhere in cities including London, Berlin, Paris, Copenhagen and Tokyo making their voices heard.

Many held placards that mocked and criticised Russia‘s president for his aggressive posturing, while many others pleaded for war to be avoided – despite the worrying signs that a conflict could be on the way.

One image, taken outside the Russian embassy in London’s Kensington Palace Gardens, showed scores of demonstrators waving Ukrainian flags in the air as they lined the pavement while holding placards.

Another photo taken outside Russia’s diplomatic HQ in Britain showed demonstrators with placards that took aim aim at Putin, including one which depicted him with a Hitler-like moustache.

In Berlin, demonstrators waved Ukrainian flags in front of the Brandenburg Gate, which was lit up in the country’s colours.

In Copenhagen, scores held an enormous Ukrainian flag aloft as others massed with banners in front of the Russian embassy.

In Paris, the city hall was lit up with the yellow and blue of the Ukrainian flag as the city’s mayor Anne Hidalgo stood outside it flanked by the Ukrainian ambassador to France Vadym Omelchenko.

In Tokyo, children were pictured holding banners that read ‘Stand with Ukraine’ as others called for the world to ‘Stop Putin’.

Images also showed similar demonstrations in other cities, including Stockholm in Sweden, Kathmandu in Nepal and Warsaw in Poland.

The global show of support for Ukraine was taking place as U.S. President Joe Biden warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of an ‘imminent’ attack by Putin’s troops in the next 48 hours, just hours after Ukraine was hit by a ‘massive’ cyberattack targeting its government and banks.

There were reportedly more than 1,000 protesters at tonight’s demonstration in London. Some were heard shouting ‘Old man take your meds!’ and ‘Putin hands off Ukraine’.

They also held other signs aloft, including one that read ‘Love Ukraine’ and another saying ‘Ukrainians will resist’.

One woman held a placard that read ‘Putin kills’ alongside a mocked up radioactive warning sign – an apparent reference to Russia’s huge stockpile of nuclear weapons.

In Berlin, the German government said it chose to light up the Brandenburg Gate to show ‘solidarity’ with Ukraine.

‘We are showing our solidarity with the people of Ukraine, the many Berliners with Ukrainian roots but also with the many Russians who want peace in Russia and Ukraine,’ Berlin Mayor Franziska Giffey said in a statement.

‘They all want nothing more than an end to the escalation and a peaceful settlement to this threatening conflict,’ she added.

However, despite the show of support, tensions continued to ratchet up tonight.

The websites of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service, and Cabinet of Ministers were all out of action Wednesday afternoon after a cyberattack.

Bomb threats were also phoned in to several government buildings, thought to be part of a psychological pressure campaign by Moscow.

Deputy prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov said banks were also targeted in a ‘massive’ distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack – which uses computer networks to bombard websites with information until they crash – in what analysts have warned would likely be the first stage of a Russian attack.

It came just hours after the whole country was placed on a war footing: A state of emergency was declared and approved by parliament, 200,000 military reservists called up, border zones were restricted and three million Ukrainians told to leave Russia, with Kiev acknowledging for the first time that an attack could now take place anywhere, at any time.

As the noose tightened, Prime Minister Boris Johnson pledged to send more weapons to help Ukraine defend itself against what the US has warned will be an all-out Russian assault.

Johnson also promised more and tougher sanctions against Russia if Putin escalates further.

Earlier in the day, Putin had given a sabre-rattling address to his troops to mark Defender of the Fatherland Day, praising their ‘battle readiness’ while saying he is assured that they will fight to defend Russian security interests – which he called ‘non-negotiable’.

Russia also evacuated staff from its Kiev embassy.

Ukraine’s security agency claimed 45,000 plastic body bags have now been ordered to the Russian frontlines, giving the first hint of the amount lives Putin is willing to sacrifice to get what he wants – after Joe Biden said supplies of blood for transfusions have also been brought in.

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss warned that Putin is ‘hell-bent’ on a full-scale invasion of Ukraine with a direct attack on the capital of Kiev ‘highly likely’ to be in his plans.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison predicted the attack is ‘likely to occur within the next 24 hours’.

Meanwhile the EU imposed wide-ranging sanctions on Russia targeting the defence minister, heads of the armed forces, all 351 members of its parliament, and prominent propagandists.

A senior U.S. official warned Putin’s military is as ready as it can be to launch a full scale invasion of Ukraine, with 80 per cent of Russian troops assembled around Ukraine in attack positions within three to 30 miles of the border.

‘They are literally ready to go now,’ the official told NBC News, adding that Russia has brought in ‘nearly 100 percent of all the forces we anticipated [Putin] would need’ for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

‘He is as ready as he can be. We’ve been saying any day now and it’s certainly possible that today is that day,’ the U.S. defence official said.

And amid an ‘imminent’ Russian invasion, two separate convoys with no identifiable insignia were moving towards the city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine along different roads from the direction of the Russian border, a Reuters witness said on Wednesday.

One convoy included nine tanks and an infantry fighting vehicle, while the other was made up of trucks and fuel tankers, said the reporter, who was in the territory of two Russia-backed rebel regions recognised as independent by Moscow on Monday.

And on Wednesday night, the crack troops of Russia’s advanced units were banned from using all mobile phones in what was believed to be a key sign that they would invade Kyiv-controlled Ukraine.

The 1st and 2nd Army Corps in Donbas received an order to turn off mobile phones, according to the volunteer project Informnapalm on its Facebook page.

‘Attention! ….(we) received information from insiders from ORDLO that at 20:40 (Moscow time) all advanced units of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps were ordered to completely turn off phones and walkie-talkies.

‘They were strictly forbidden to go on the air for this time, they were even ordered to remove the batteries from their phones. As an option, the Russians will probably scan the space and all available phones on the line of contact in order to make target designations by coordinates,’ the statement said.

Meanwhile, Ms Truss sought to defend the UK’s own sanctions – criticised yesterday for not being harsh enough – by insisting that ‘nothing’ is off the table should Putin decide to escalate.

‘We’ve been very clear that we’re going to limit Russian access to British markets,’ Truss told Sky. ‘We’re going to stop the Russian government with raising sovereign debt in the United Kingdom.’

‘There will be even more tough sanctions on key oligarchs, on key organisations in Russia, limiting Russia’s access to the financial markets, if there is a full scale invasion of Ukraine,’ Truss said.

Separately, US Secretary of State Antony Bliken announced that he has called off a high-level summit with Russian Foreign Secretary Sergei Lavrov scheduled for Thursday, saying it ‘does not make sense’ to go ahead with peace negotiations when an invasion is already underway.

Russia today began evacuating diplomatic staff from Ukraine, with the flag lowered over the embassy in Kiev.

Moscow’s foreign ministry announced on Tuesday that it would evacuate diplomats from the country soon, saying this was in order to ‘protect their lives’.

Asked if the evacuation had begun, the embassy’s spokesperson Denis Golenko told AFP by phone today: ‘Yes.’

Golenko said the evacuation was ‘linked to the fact that Western embassies announced evacuations of some of their staff, and that our ministry also took this decision.’

Some Western embassies, including the United States and Britain, moved their staff to the city of Lviv near the Polish border.

They did so fearing a Russian invasion of Ukraine, saying the capital could come under attack.

Fighting also escalated along the frontlines between separatist forces and Ukraine’s men overnight, with one Ukrainian soldier killed and six injured in shelling. A house was also hit in the village of Muratovo.

MAGHAN MACCANE: My father, John McCain, warned us about Putin. We had to listen

American presidents in the last few decades, after the end of Ronald Reagan’s presidency, have had a terrible experience when it comes to US geopolitical relations with Russia and Vladimir Putin.

Of course, some presidents are worse than others, but no one seems to really understand or want to understand the great existential threat from Putin and his thirst for blood for the glorious days of the USSR.

President George W. Bush has said disgracefully that he has looked into Putin’s eyes and seen his soul.

When my father was campaigning for 2008 republican The party’s primary primary, he responded to Bush’s comment.

My father said he looked into Putin’s eyes and saw “three letters: K, G and B.”

No one looks back on the Bush years in terms of his foreign policy instincts or his intellectual strength as president, but it was still a silly thing for the former president to say.

And he stands out for his incompetence in light of what is happening today amid Putin’s ongoing quest to strengthen his murderous regime.

President Obama was caught on a live microphone in 2012 when he told Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he would “have more flexibility” to negotiate missile defense after the November election.

My father said he looked into Putin's eyes and saw

My father said he looked into Putin’s eyes and saw “three letters: K, G and B.” (Above) US Senator John McCain arrives to attend a pro-European Union rally in Independence Square in Kiev, Ukraine, on Sunday, December 15, 2013.

In another scandalous video from the 2012 presidential debate against Senator Mitt Romney, Obama mocked the governor for highlighting the looming existential threat from Russia and Vladimir Putin.

Obama said that “the 1980s have called and they want their foreign policy back.”

At the time, lapdog journalists, including CNN’s Chris Cillizza, welcomed the moment instead of taking Romney’s warnings seriously.

They applauded like seals over Obama’s cheap line – calling it the best moment of the debate.

Unfortunately for these journalists, these tweets are reappearing.

Cillizza has since written an article saying he was wrong. Too little, too late in my opinion. But he was far from alone in mocking the threat from Russia.

In 2013, my father took part in freedom protests in Kiev with Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy and spoke to thousands of protesters.

He told them: “We support your just cause, Ukraine’s sovereign right to determine its own destiny freely and independently. And the destiny you are looking for is in Europe.

In 2014, after the invasion and annexation of Crimea by Russia, my father urged the United States to arm the Ukrainians.

What did Obama do? Almost nothing.

The Obama White House will provide only non-lethal aid, fearing that the provision of weapons will provoke Putin.

Obama has adhered to his bold approach to foreign policy in the Ivy League classroom and made the world a safer place.

If he had followed my father’s advice, we might have avoided all this.

My father became so beloved to the figure because of his devotion to Ukraine that in 2019 the Kyiv City Council voted to rename a street after him.

In 2013, my father took part in freedom protests in Kiev with Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy and spoke to thousands of protesters. (Above) McCain joined about 200,000 anti-government protesters in the Ukrainian capital on Sunday, December 15, 2013.

On Tuesday, Obama’s director of national intelligence, James Clapper, acknowledged that they should have been tougher on Putin.

“I wish we as an administration were more aggressive in 2014,” he told CNN.

And then there’s President Trump.

President Trump with his strange, unforgiving and insidious relationship with Vladimir Putin.

There are too many examples of his extremely dangerous admiration for assassin dictators, so I will instead focus on what he said yesterday in a radio interview after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

President Trump has said that Putin’s military invasion of Ukraine is “genius” and that he will be a “peacemaker.”

Trump went on to say that this is something America must do on the southern border of the United States and praised Putin as “very reasonable.”

I’m not quite sure what to do about it. I just hope Republicans don’t accept Putin’s model and invade Mexico.

President Trump has become even more insane and detached from any form of reality in his post-presidential life.

And now we have Biden.

If the president’s recent actions in Afghanistan are an example, we can expect little or no consequences for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Biden has shown that he shares the isolationist foreign policy view of the progressive left, not the moderate. The foreign policy point of view he chooses.

Biden is a man who had no problem abandoning our allies in Afghanistan and watching the massacre of innocent people.

That was the moment when I and millions of other Americans saw him and his administration as it really is and really is.

It was also a time when many of us panicked at how weak America looked on the world stage, expecting it to get much worse.

In another scandalous video from the 2012 presidential debate against Senator Mitt Romney, Obama mocked the governor for highlighting the looming existential threat from Russia and Vladimir Putin. (Above) President Obama and Republican presidential candidate Romney at the Second Presidential Debate in Hempstead, New York, October 16, 2012.

(Above) President Obama and Republican presidential candidate Romney at the Second Presidential Debate in Hempstead, New York, October 16, 2012.

A serious debate and debate on foreign policy is welcome.

I think it is quite clear where I stand, but I welcome respectful arguments to the contrary.

What I do not accept is the disgusting KGB, pro-Kremlin propaganda coming out of so many far-right conservative mouths.

Some have gone so far as to say that it is America’s fault (blaming America is something that is usually reserved for the progressive left).

What I look at makes me sick to my stomach.

America’s moral equating with Russia is nothing but national disgrace.

Vladimir Putin is a murderous dictator who poisons and kills his critics or imprisons them under false pretenses, as he did with Free Russia activist Alexy Navalny.

There is no moral equivalence between America and Russia.

Anyone who says this suffers from forms of delusion.

How did so many people I know become this? Putin fraudsters and KGB propaganda.

I have no idea, but it is shocking and extremely dangerous.

There is a difference between concerns about putting American boots on the ground in Ukraine against actively defending Putin’s success and undermining the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine and Ukrainians.

This is against freedom and is not American by nature.

In the first place, I believe, as President Ronald Reagan believed, that America is a brilliant city on a hill.

I believe that we, as Americans, lead the rest of the world, and that the threat to democracy everywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.

I believe that we have a moral obligation to fight for freedom on a global scale.

We have disappointed the people of Ukraine, and we must send a strong and clear message to which country the United States is.

I would start by expelling Russia from the world community and freezing the assets of Putin and his oligarchs.

My friend Bill Browder is boldly lobbying and advocating for the Magnetic Act worldwide.

Hit them where it hurts the most, with their money.

If we do not show strength in the face of this invasion, Putin will not stop in eastern Ukraine and America will cease to be a superpower that is feared.

There may also be more expectations of expansion and invasion from other tyrannical countries, such as China in Taiwan.

I have a broken heart. I’m disgusted. I am afraid of the future. The time for action is now.

We call on President Biden and Congress to take swift and aggressive action, or I fear that the severe consequences will be felt for generations to come.

Euphoria actress shares ‘miserable’ experience on set, claims they were forced to work 16-hour days

A Euphoria background actor has opened up about the ‘miserable’ experience she had on set, claiming several extras refused to return after working 16-hour days which them ‘numb.’

Ranielle Marie, from Los Angeles, California, got to work as a background actress during a few episodes of season two of the HBO Max series, which stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, and Angus Cloud.

But according to the actress, she decided not to return to the show after she was forced to work 16-hour days without warning, was fed ice-cold food, and had to film scenes in a ‘dusty room.’

She shared some behind-the-scenes details on the wildly popular show in a recent TikTok video, which quickly went viral and shocked many of its avid fans.

In the TikTok, which has been viewed more than 89,000 times, Ranielle pointed out that if you look closely at episode seven of season two, entitled The Theater and It’s Double, you’ll notice that many of the background actors are different throughout one particular scene.

The episode, which aired on February 20, followed Lexi Howard (played by Maude Apatow) as she put on a school play about the rest of the characters.

Ranielle (pictured in the show) slammed the series in her video, calling the whole thing a 'horrible f**king experience'

The scene in question showed many of the characters sitting in the audience while watching the play, and according to Ranielle, who is spotted in the third row, it took ‘weeks’ to film it.

She claimed that the reason the background actors change during the scene is because many of them decided they didn’t want to return mid-way through the taping.

‘The play and the audience scenes actually took forever for them to film, like it took weeks for them to film just this episode, which is honestly crazy to me,’ she said.

‘But there’s a lot of inconsistencies of background because of it. Obviously people don’t want to return, like, I didn’t because I was miserable.’

Ranielle, who has since made her TikTok account private, pointed out that actor Dominic Fike (who plays Elliot) had to be replaced halfway through the scene by a ‘bootleg.’

She showed off the lookalike actor, but didn’t specify why Dominic couldn’t finish taping the scene himself.

‘I find it really funny that they tried to have the continuity by having a bootleg Dominic Fike right there,’ she said, while pointing to the double.

In the comment section, Ranielle spoke further about her time on the show, writing that she was ‘miserable’ but not ‘ungrateful’ for the experience.

‘I did my job, got my check, and didn’t come back. That’s all,’ she explained.

When one fan asked her why many of the extras didn’t return to the set, she added, ‘It’s mostly the weather and boredom (16-hour long days of work).’

A fellow background actor also spoke out, calling the job ‘draining.’

‘OMG no [for real],’ agreed Ranielle.

She also explained that they did pay her for the extra hours that she worked, but claimed they didn’t warn her before-hand about the immense amount of hours.

When someone asked her what it was like to see the stars in person, Ranielle called it ‘surreal’ and said most of them were ‘nice,’ but added that after such a long day, she usually ‘just wanted to go home.’

‘It was surreal to see them act in real life (I’m a fan of the show) but after a while of filming, I’d get numb and just want to go home,’ she admitted. ‘Most of the actors were nice.’

In the comment section of that video, she told a viewer, ‘It’s [because] it was so cold, dusty, they took our phones (to prevent spoilers), and we weren’t fed all too well (food was very late and was cold).’

Some of the show’s stars have spoken out about the grueling filming process, with Jacob (who plays Noah Flynn in the show) confirming to Esquire Middle East earlier this month that they did often work for 16-hours straight.

‘We shoot for so long, and it takes so many hours. And you know it’s worthwhile while you’re doing it, but a 16-hour day is a 16-hour day,’ he said.

It was previously revealed that creator Sam Levinson rewrote almost the entire script of the eight-episode season after it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘The majority of the originally planned season was scrapped,’ Zendaya told The Cut in an interview published on February 14. ‘There are very few things that remain in the version that you are now seeing.’

Jacob also spoke to Insider about the continuously-changing script.

‘Honestly, these scripts were chopping and changing pretty regularly for the longest time,’ he explained.

‘I had a general idea of what was happening, but it was also pretty touch and go a lot of the time.’

‘New season of Euphoria is going to be real DARK,’ an insider told the pop culture Instagram account last year.

‘So much so that some actors, especially Barbie Ferreira, were not vibing with the director’s vision.

‘Barbie got into it with him on set and left one day. He then cut a lot of her lines.’

Many viewers also slammed this season for the large amount of ‘unnecessary’ nude scenes.

‘Euphoria be having so many unnecessary nude scenes,’ wrote on fan on Twitter back in January.

‘Euphoria’s 40-year-old writer could’ve created the show in a college setting, rather than putting unnecessary nude and sex scenes involving 17-year-olds which sexualizes and makes  it seem normal to perceive minors that way,’ added another disgruntled viewer.

Las Vegas man accused of killing girlfriend’s son, 4 found dead in FREEZER garage

IN Las Vegas a man accused of killing his girlfriend’s four-year-old son and keeping his body in a freezer in a garage for six weeks has appeared in court for the first time.

On Wednesday, 35-year-old Brandon Tozland appeared in court in Las Vegas, where he faces two charges of kidnapping and an additional charge of open murder in the death of a four-year-old boy, identified as Mason Dominguez by family members.

Mason’s body was found in the freezer at his mother’s northeast home in Las Vegas, located at 4300 on Saddle Brook Park Drive.

She sent a note to school with her eldest daughter saying that Tozeland had become abusive weeks ago and that she was being held against her will at home.

Prosecutors revealed in court that the letter, written by the mother, also stated that she had not seen her son since December 11 and that “the young child may have died.”

Toseland is scheduled to appear in court next Monday, February 28. He was enrolled at the Clark County Detention Center.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, a Toseland neighbor said his family looked normal and he was shocked to learn the sad news.

– Only I have seen [Toseland] in passing letting and picking up children from school. [He] I looked like a normal person from what I saw … I’ve never seen my mother in person except my wife, “said Brian Izley.

Husband of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins felt ‘so angry’ seeing Alec Baldwin interview

The husband of the cinematographer shot and killed by Alec Baldwin on the set of his Western has told of his shock and anger at Baldwin’s failure to take responsibility for her death.

Halyna Hutchins 42, died on October 21 when a prop gun used in the film Rust fired, shooting Hutchins in the chest.

Baldwin, 63, was told the gun he brandished was ‘cold’ – not loaded – and on December 3 he told ABC News that he did not feel guilty for her death, because he did not believe he was responsible.

‘Watching him I just felt so angry,’ said Matt Hutchins, Halyna’s husband of 16 years.

‘I was just so angry to see him talk about her death so publicly in such a detailed way and then to not accept any responsibility after having just described killing her.’

Matt Hutchins, husband of Halyna Hutchins and father of their nine-year-old son Aldous, spoke to Hoda Kotb for an interview to be aired on Thursday

Hutchins, a Harvard-educated lawyer, told Today in an interview to be broadcast in full on Thursday that he felt the majority of the blame lay with Baldwin.

Baldwin, in the December interview, said: ‘Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but it’s not me.’

Hutchins said: ‘The idea that the person holding the gun and causing it to discharge is not responsible is absurd to me.

‘But gun safety was not the only problem on that set. There were a number of industry standards that were not practiced and there’s multiple responsible parties,’ he added.

Hutchins met Baldwin in New Mexico, shortly after the fatal shooting.

‘Her husband comes to town, her husband Matthew,’ Baldwin said in the December interview.

‘And I met with him and their son. He was as kind as you could be. ‘

Asked what he said, Baldwin replied: ‘I didn’t know what to say. He hugged me and he goes, ‘I suppose you and I are going to go through this together.’ And I thought, ‘Well, not as much as you are.’

Hutchins, who has a nine-year-old son named Andros with his late wife, filed a wrongful death suit against Baldwin on February 15.

Brian Panish, representing Hutchins, said the Oscar-nominated actor and others are named defendants ‘responsible for the safety on the set and whose reckless behavior in cost cutting led to the senseless and tragic death of Halyna Hutchins.’

The suit also names the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 24, who has said that she loaded the antique Colt .45 revolver with what she believed were dummy rounds.

Gutierrez-Reed named crew member Seth Kenney, who supplied ammunition to the set, in her own suit, filed in January.

Gutierrez-Reed gave the gun to Dave Halls, an assistant director on the movie, who is also named in the Hutchins family’s lawsuit.

Halls told Baldwin the gun was ‘cold’.

Gutierrez-Reed, in her suit, described the set of Rust as a ‘rushed and chaotic atmosphere, (that) created a perfect storm for a safety incident.’

NBC News reported that ‘multiple previous misfires’ by the same prop gun that killed Hutchins caused multiple crew members to walk off the movie’s set hours before the incident.

Lane Luper, who served as the film’s A-camera first assistant, said he quit one day before the fatal shooting because employees were being overworked, COVID-safety was not being enforced properly, and gun safety was poor.

‘I think with Rust, it was the perfect storm of the armorer, the assistant director, the culture that was on set, the rushing. It was everything,’ he told Good Morning America about the events that led up to the fatal shooting.

‘It wasn’t just one individual. Everything had to fall into place for this one-in-a-trillion thing to happen.’

In his letter of resignation, Luper said there had been two accidental weapon discharges on set and one accidental sound-effects explosion that went off around the crew.

‘There have been NO explanations as to what to expect for these shots. When anyone from production is asked we are usually met with the same answers about not having enough time to complete the day if we rehearse or that ‘this is a 21 day shoot,” Luper wrote in the letter.

He added that the crew grew exhausted of the long commutes from the set to their lodging, which for some more than two hours away.

‘In my 10 years as a camera assistant I’ve never worked on a show that cares so little for the safety of its crew,’ Luper said.

In a statement to Sky News, a spokesperson for the producers hit back at his claims, saying: ‘Mr Luper’s allegations around budget and safety are patently false, which is not surprising considering his job was to be a camera operator, and he had absolutely nothing to do with it or knowledge of safety protocols or budgets.

‘As we continue to cooperate with all investigations, we are limited in what we can say,’ the spokesperson continued.

‘However, safety is always the number one priority.’

Baldwin insisted that he was unaware of any problems on set.

He was rehearsing a scene in which he pulls out his gun and, in an interview with ABC on December 2, said that he never pulled the trigger, but the gun went off anyway.

Hutchins, a 42-year-old cinematographer, was shot and killed. The director of the film, Joel Souza, was shot in the shoulder and survived.

It is unclear why it has taken so long for New Mexico police to seize Baldwin’s phone.

The actor has insisted that he has fully cooperated with the investigation.

Baldwin on December 2 gave an emotional interview to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, in which he said he did not pull the trigger, and felt no guilt because he believed he had done nothing wrong.

‘I let go of the hammer, bang. The gun goes off. Everyone is horrified. They’re shocked. It’s loud,’ he said.

He told Stephanopoulos that he didn’t know she’d died until hours later, at the end of his police interview when he was photographed in the sheriff’s parking lot in Santa Fe.

He said that he has been told by people ‘in the know’ that it is ‘highly unlikely’ he’ll face criminal charges.

‘Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who it is, but it’s not me,’ Baldwin told Stephanopoulos.

‘Honest to God, if I thought I was responsible I might have killed myself. And I don’t say that lightly.’

He also took a swipe at former President Donald Trump, his media foe who he impersonated on Saturday Night Live, for suggesting that he ‘loaded the gun himself.’

‘He said that I did it deliberately. Just when you think things can’t get any more surreal, here’s the president of the United States making a comment on this tragic situation.’

Baldwin described in detail for the first time the immediate aftermath of the accident on October 21.

He was filming a scene inside a church on the set of the movie when the gun was handed to him.

‘She’s getting me to position the gun – everything is at her direction. I draw the gun, to her marker. I’m not shooting to the camera lens, I’m shooting just off. In her direction. This was a completely incidental shot, that may not have ended up in the film.’

Baldwin says he cocked the gun, and was discussing with Hutchins how it looked on camera.

‘I’m just showing. I go, ‘How ’bout that? Does that work? You see that? Do you see that?’  And then she goes, ‘Yeah, that’s good.’

‘I let go of the hammer, bang. The gun goes off. Everyone is horrified. They’re shocked. It’s loud. They don’t have their earplugs in.

He added: ‘Well, she’s laying there and I go, ‘Did she hit by wadding? Was there a blank?’ Sometimes those blank rounds have a wadding inside that packs, it’s like a cloth that packs the gunpowder in. Sometimes wadding comes out, it can hit people, and it could feel like a little bit of a poke.

‘But no one could understand. Did she have a heart attack? Because remember the idea that someone put a live bullet in the gun was not even in reality.’

‘I never pulled the trigger. No, no, no. You would never do that.’

Halls, the assistant director who was watching, confirmed Baldwin’s account, through his lawyer.

He said he stood over her for ‘about 60 seconds’ and was then ushered out.

‘Was she conscious?’ Stephanopoulos asked.

‘My recollection is yes,’ said Baldwin.

He said ‘no one had any idea’ there was live ammunition used until a police officer showed a photo of the shrapnel removed from Souza’s arm.

He said then began ‘the agony, insanity, that someone put a live bullet in the gun.

‘She was laying there and she was there for a while.

‘I was amazed at how long they didn’t get her in a car or get her out, but they waited until a helicopter came,’ he said.

‘And by the time the helicopter took off with her we were literally all glued to that process outside.

‘When she finally left, I don’t know how long she was there for.

‘She kept saying, she’s stable, just as you disbelieve there was a live round in the gun, you disbelieve its going to be a fatal accident.

‘At the end of my interview with the sheriff’s department, they told me ‘we regret to inform you she didn’t make it,’ they told me then and there.’

He added: ‘That’s when I went outside and called my wife.’

The Queen may deprive Prince Harry of a key role because he does not live in Britain

Prince Harry must not qualify for substitution the queen as a state adviser because he no longer resides in the country, reveals a new briefing in parliament.

But Prince Andrew he could still replace his mother if she became incapacitated, although he had to resign from public office and relinquish his HRH title due to the Epstein scandal.

This week, the Library of the House of Commons quietly published for the first time guidelines on what measures could be introduced if the monarch is unable to perform his royal functions.

An intense public debate ensued over the roles of the Dukes of Sussex and York as “substitutes” for the sovereign, and both have now left as working royalty, especially in light of the 95-year-old queen’s recent ill health.

She tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, but was well enough to maintain her weekly phone audience with Boris Johnson last night.

The parliamentary briefing will increase the pressure on Buckingham Palace to take legal steps to resolve the issue once and for all.

There were calls for the appointment of the next two high-ranking royals, Prince Edward and Princess Anne, in their place.

A government source said: “There was a lot of noise about Harry and Andrew and their roles as state advisers, and it was thought that important MPs had all the facts. It has nothing to do with Her Majesty being ill.

The regency laws of 1937 and 1953 are designed to deal with four potential scenarios: a monarch succeeding the throne before the age of 18, a monarch becoming permanently or temporarily incapacitated, and the absence of the monarch from the United Kingdom.

In the event of temporary incapacity for work or absence from the United Kingdom, the Queen may appoint State Councilors to ensure the continuation of “public service”.

Duties include giving royal assent to acts of parliament, approving public appointments and ministers to the crown, and fixing the Great Seal of the Kingdom – a symbol of royal power – to royal proclamations or written patents.

According to 1937 law, all advisers must be members of the royal family.

There were calls for the appointment of the next two dignitaries to the throne – Prince Edward and Princess Anne (both standing behind the Queen) – in place of Harry and Andrew.

They consist of the husband or wife of the monarch and the next four in succession.

Following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh last May, the current advisers are the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of York.

Most importantly, however, the newly published guidelines state: “According to the 1937 Act, a public adviser must be domiciled in ‘some part’ of the United Kingdom.”

He added: “The Regency Act of 1943 adds the discretionary provision that if he ‘appears before the sovereign’, that any eligible adviser will be ‘absent from the United Kingdom or intends to be absent for the whole or part of the period of such a delegation ”, Then Letters Patent [a legal tool available to the monarch] “May foresee” the release of that person.

Harry remains sixth in line to the throne, but has not lived in the UK since late 2019.

However, the law does not provide for the exclusion of a family member who is no longer a working king, as long as he remains in the line of succession, so Andrew, who is ninth, can be called to stand.

Both the Queen and the Prince of Wales tested positive for Covid earlier this month. If they were both unable to fulfill their constitutional obligations, they would fall to William and Harry.

State councilors often performed royal functions during the queen’s reign. In 1974, Queen Mother and Princess Margaret declared a state of emergency and dissolved parliament when the Queen was on an official visit to the Pacific with her husband.

Buckingham Palace said last night that there is no “change” in the current councilors. An aide said there were “no plans” to change them.

Sources speculate that the royal family may be concerned about the “beyond the lake” response if changes are made. “They may just not be willing to sting the bear,” they said.
