Witnesses said Yang got out of the car bleeding and shouting: “Where is the CCP?” – an acronym for the Chinese Communist Party.

Police arrived after several 911 calls in which callers reported a man with a gun.

In the audio recording of one of the calls, a member of the public can be heard begging for a SWAT team to be dispatched.

Officers then arrive on scene and recently released footage shows her encounter with Yang. As Carrasco approaches, he shouts, “Get on the ground,” before asking if Yang has a gun.

He then tries to push Yang against the wall with the help of other officers and a fight ensues.

Suddenly, Yang breaks free and it becomes clear that he is armed with a blade. Police later discovered he also had a crossbow in the back seat of his car.

“If he became radicalized, it was only recently,” she said.
