A Safeway in Vallejo has also locked one of its entrances, according to KPIX reporter Betty Yu, who tweeted a picture of the security guard sounding an alarm if a shoplifter tries to exit the store.

The supermarket chain location, owned by Albertsons Companies, joins other San Francisco-area locations that have taken similar action in recent years amid rising theft in the city.

The Bay Area, where property crime has increased 10.4% since last year, is also seeing a surge in robberies, in which shoplifters armed with bats and other weapons make off with thousands of items from luxury stores.

The gates are part of “long-planned safety improvements” for the store, a Safeway spokesman told FOX Business.

“Like other local businesses, we are working to curb escalating theft so we can ensure the well-being of our employees and create a welcoming environment for our customers. These long-planned security improvements have been implemented with these goals in mind,” the company said.

Jon Hamm ties the knot with Anna Osceola…Mad Men style!!!

06/25/2023 10:52 AM PT

Jon Hamm has finally tied the knot with a former Mad Men co-star, no less… with many other nods to the series that made him super famous.

The actor got married Anna Osceola Saturday after I got engaged last year… and after being together for 2 years. They’d actually met on the set of ‘Mad Men’ in 2015 … and apparently got back together after Jon split from his long-term partner. Jennifer Westfeldt.

As for the wedding itself…absolutely breathtaking. Jon and Anna got married in beautiful Anderson Canyon in Big Sur, so it was a seaside wedding of sorts.

The reason the Big Sur location is so important hasn’t gone unnoticed by “MM” fans – the series ended with Don Draper having a rediscovery of himself there… and the final shot shows Jon’s character discussing a Enlightenment for the iconic film stumbles. Hilltop Coke advert from 1970.

A nice little nod, of course—but the guest list was just the icing on the cake for a Mad Men flashback. John Slattery showed up to congratulate his old co-star, and there were even touches of Mad Men cocktails as a tribute. God knows these boys have been drinking!

REAR GRILLE

More A-listers present… Billy Crudup — just who recently married herself — Plus Paul Rudd, Tina Fey, and other. Her backing song was also connected to James Bond…with a band playing the theme of You Only Live Twice. In fact, everything here was 1960s style.

As for the bride and groom…they looked gorgeous. Jon was incredibly elegant in his tuxedo – and Anna wowed with her flowy dress. Everyone else was also well dressed.

Congratulations to the happy couple!!!

Portland Trail Blazers Hold Introductory Press Conference for NBA Draft

Portland Trail Blazers Hold Introductory Press Conference for NBA Draft Picks Scoot Henderson, Kris Murray, R… – Blazer’s Edge

Post-NBA draft, the Portland Trail Blazers will start most of the offseason with three new picks: G League Ignite #3 pick Scoot Henderson, #23 pick Kris Murray of Iowa, and #43 pick Rayan Rupert, a French winger , who played in Australia’s NBL last season.

Yesterday, the franchise welcomed the trio with an introductory press conference in Portland. Along with general manager Joe Cronin and head coach Chauncey Billups, the rookies answered questions about their respective games and encounters with Portland.

Below are some of the most notable quotes from the 20+ minute session.

opening speech

Cronin opened the event with excitement about the players ending up in Portland’s draft picks, especially since Murray and Rupert were rated far higher on the franchise’s grand ladder.

“For us, it was one of those unique draft nights where we had all three of these players placed in the lottery, and we were fortunate to win three of them at very different points in the draft. … It was a unique way the design came about for us that meshed really well with the way we had graded it.”

Billups echoed Cronin’s comment, saying the players fit his preferred archetype of versatile competitors.

“[It’s] not often [picks] 3, 23, and 43, and you come out with three guys who have been invited to the Green Room. … Many of you know what I think about the game of basketball. I love guys who are very competitive. I love guys who play with fire, who play on both sides of basketball, and all three of these guys do. They’re all very dynamic, so I’m looking forward to getting involved with them and teaching them the best I can can.”

Scott Henderson

Henderson comes to Portland as one of the most hyped candidates the Blazers have won in a long time. Henderson is considered a likely No. 1 pick in almost every other draft that doesn’t feature French phenomenon Victor Wembanyama or Alabama forward Brandon Miller. He comes to Portland after the Charlotte Hornets went 2nd with Miller. The 6-foot-2, athletic point guard possesses great confidence and swagger, which shows in (and in) the presser Draft night outfit) and after two years in the NBA G League, it’s believed that he’s better prepared than most 19-year-olds to turn pro.

When asked about the hype, Henderson said he tries not to think too much about it.

“Honestly, I don’t really pay attention to it. It’s hard not to see it, of course I have social media but I only ever rely on the gym. I wouldn’t have any of it if it wasn’t for me and my work ethic. … So if there are words like “transgenerational,” “special,” then I know who I am as a person, and that’s all that matters.”

Entering the NBA as a top lottery win brings with it expectations of leadership and eventually being the face of a franchise. Henderson said his time in the G League helped him prepare for that responsibility and he’s not shy about speaking out.

“I’m blessed to have spent the two years at Ignite as a pro and had to tell men [like] phew [Jeter], who is 20 years older than me, where on the pitch. I will continue to feel comfortable with this and I will accept it. That’s what I could do, accept that and accept that I have a lot of responsibility, but it’s related to the work ethic. I always come back to that. I work on things like that – just talking and little things like that in my game.”

Chris Murray

After four years in Iowa, Murray, 22, is entering the league much older than his teenage rookie teammates and most rookies in the modern NBA. Cronin said he received many calls from other teams trying to secure 23rd place, particularly on draft night, but the franchise was thrilled to still have Murray on the board when the election finally came.

“A few weeks before the draft [we] I got a lot of calls about pick 23. I could see the league starting to really evaluate and figure out the depth here in this draft. So over the past two weeks, there have indeed been frequent calls regarding our election and what the teams want. …When we hit our teens, the number of phones exploded. Teams were trying to get into the draft, chasing not just Kris but other guys as well. Just a lot of activity, a lot of different phone calls and discussions. Mentally we had Kris on top of our board and when we say we’re on pick 18, 17 we’re like, man, he ain’t getting that far. You just hope and cheer, and at some point you guess we are happy that he has come to us.”

In addition to the added experience of age, Murray also benefits from learning from his older brother Keegan, who was drafted #4 by the Sacramento Kings last summer. The 1.80m tall forward spoke about how his brother helped him prepare for his NBA moment.

“It’s definitely a unique experience when the brother you’re very close with gets to be part of this whole process, and I saw in the background last year what it all entails, so just little things that I get from learned from him. …how to take care of yourself on and off the court. The biggest thing I learned from him is to do the same thing every day. Don’t change who you are.”

Rayan Rupert

Rupert, 19, joins the NBA after a year in Australia’s NBL with the New Zealand Breakers. The 1.8m tall forward briefly explained to reporters his journey from an elite basketball academy in France to the NBA and how he enjoys playing.

“I grew up in France and played at the INSEP Academy for four years. Tony Parker and Evan Fournier played there, so I spent four years there. Last year I made the decision to play for the New Zealand Breakers in the NBL. It was a great opportunity to grow up far away from my country as a player and as a person. So it’s been an amazing journey and now I’m happy to be here.

I think I’m a two-way player, my first quality is defensive, I just love being defensive disruptive and playing with maximum energy.”

A big fan of the Rupert pick included former Blazer Nicolas Batum, who tweeted his support for the pick. At the press conference, Rupert discussed his relationship with his French compatriot, which dates back years.

“Nic Batum is like a big brother to me. He called me [Friday]I’ve known him for 10 years, I went to a camp and got the MVP degree there, so I spent 10 days with him when he was in Charlotte. When he called me yesterday [he] I just said a lot of good things about this organization and the people here. i like his game I’m trying to learn more about him on and off the pitch.”

Direct Contributions

While Portland’s pick received generally positive reviews from the media, criticism was leveled at the franchise’s inability to build a combat-ready team around Damian Lillard, a reality compounded by Portland’s decision to use all three picks. In that regard, Billups said the Blazers’ front office still has a lot of team-building work to do this summer, but also said these rookies are more ready than most.

“The way I see these guys, it’s obvious their age is quite young, but they don’t play like that. Her IQ is different than that of a normal man her age. That’s one reason they’re here. For these reasons we have carefully selected them all. Those young moments and those young things are minimized with these guys. Scoot just said it: He’s been leading men for two years. … Kris, you can tell there’s a certain maturity about him. He won’t play like a rookie, if he’s out there he’ll be able to contribute. Rayan played pro in a very, very physical and tough league. I don’t think these guys are young, I feel like they can contribute immediately. … Obviously we have a big couple of weeks ahead of us to build up the rest of our team.”

Players were asked how they could contribute in their rookie season and said the following:

Rupert: “I’ll try to earn my minutes with maximum energy and defense early on and do whatever the coach asks of me to help the team.”

Henderson: “I think I can pressure the defense in all sorts of ways. Be a voice, lead by example, and gain the trust of my teammates. Then just develop defensively…and become one of the best defenders in the league.”

Murray: I think for me it’s just my versatility, offensively and defensively. I feel like I can guard and play multiple positions, but definitely my basketball IQ. I think I’m a guy who doesn’t make mistakes.”

The Lillard situation

The tale of Lillard and the question of whether he will remain a blazer next season becomes the plot of the summer. Towards the end of the press conference, Cronin discussed his communications with the franchise face related to the draft results.

“The last time we spoke directly was when he was in Europe on Tuesday and I spoke to his agent multiple times each day and have stayed in close contact. Dame will be back in town pretty soon so we’ll meet up.”

Weeks of speculation and uncertainty surrounding the draft are now firmly in the rearview mirror as the Blazers bring Henderson, Murray and Rupert to town. Now all eyes are on free agency and the summer trading season.

Wagners uprising the questions raised after Yevgeny Prigoyines failed attempt

Wagner’s uprising: the questions raised after Yevgeny Prigoyine’s failed attempt

The mutiny initiated by the Wagner group on Saturday raises many questions about the stability of the Russian regime and the continuation of the war in Ukraine.

The Wagner group eventually backed down. For 24 hours, Yevgeny Prigoyine’s epic frontally challenged Vladimir Putin’s authority by sending his troops towards Moscow and promising to “liberate the Russian people.” But at the end of the day, on Saturday, June 23, the head of the paramilitary group turned around and ordered his troops to evacuate their positions in several Russian cities. This short and spectacular uprising, which could be interpreted as pressure on the Kremlin and the military leadership, threatens to leave deep scars in Russia.

What was Prigozhin’s goal?

One of the most widely shared hypotheses remains that Vladimir Putin’s former “cook” attempted to overthrow key leaders of the Russian army, most notably Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of Staff Valeri Gerassimov. For months, Yevgeny Prigoyine has been attacking the high command of the Russian army via videos, often to demand more ammunition, and accuses the general staff of being incompetent in the conduct of the war. The dispute has also been exacerbated lately because the army has asked the Wagner Group battalions to sign a “contract” with the Defense Ministry by July 1.

This situation could be another explanation for Prigozhin’s initiative. “Like any mercenary, when he is no longer paid (…) he demands to be paid and deserts when he is not paid,” analyzes geopolitical adviser François Chauvancy on franceinfo. The leader of the paramilitary group made “his communication campaign” by exerting “media pressure” on Vladimir Putin.

The aim of Prigojine was not to trigger a civil war, Peer de Jong, another geopolitical specialist, confirms to franceinfo. “The goal is that things go well, that the doors open and that he goes straight where he needs to go,” analyzed this specialist on Saturday before the rebel’s about-face.

Yevgeny Prigoyine’s epic could also have come about as a reaction to the Russian army’s alleged attacks on his troops’ positions, according to Wagner’s boss. If these attacks are proven, it means that “Moscow wanted to get Prigoyine out of harm’s way,” explains François Chauvancy in Le Figaro. On the contrary, if these strikes had never happened, it could be an excuse for Wagner’s boss to “start a riot aimed at thwarting an upcoming ‘Night of the Long Knives,’ in which he would have been eliminated,” suggests General Chauvancy.

Why did Prigozhin finally turn around?

“Prigojine was given guarantees” that he would turn around, estimates François Chauvancy on franceinfo. “We had to make significant financial commitments to Prigojine and tell him that he will find a good job, maybe even better thought out,” the specialist continues. Even the leader Wagner “can’t afford a bloodbath because he presents himself as a patriot,” agrees Peer de Jong, a former naval colonel. It “was in the best interest.” [de la Russie] “To avoid a bloodbath,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Saturday evening.

None of the fighters of the Wagner Group, which plays an important role alongside the Russian army in Ukraine, will be prosecuted for the coup, according to the Kremlin. “No one will follow [les combattants]considering their merits at the front, “Ukrainians,” assured Dmitry Peskov. The case against Yevgeny Prigoyine, who took the direction of Belarus, will also be dropped.

“We do not know the content” of this agreement, nuance on franceinfo Françoise Daucé, director of the Center for Russian World Studies. “The decision-making process is extremely opaque, we don’t know what will happen behind it,” she believes, despite the will to appease that Moscow has been showing since Saturday evening.

If the terms of the agreement with Wagner remain a subject of speculation, it appears that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a close ally of Vladimir Putin, played a key role. According to him, it was he who suggested to Wagner’s boss to stop his advance towards the Russian capital. “We are grateful to the President of Belarus for these efforts,” said the Kremlin spokesman. “I have doubts about his real role and maybe he was used by Putin instead,” said franceinfo Olga Prokopieva, spokeswoman for Russia-Freedoms, a human rights NGO. “If Putin had negotiated directly with Prigozhin, he would have lost face a bit. He had to pretend to ‘mediate’.”

What will become of Wagner after this coup d’etat?

“It is a facade result for the immediate future to calm the situation, but we can assume that we will not stop it because there has been a form of humiliation of Vladimir Putin and the army high command,” commented Francoise Dauce.

The researcher cannot really imagine that mutineers can be reintegrated into “the regular ranks of the Russian army”. “Putin and the security services will probably try to weaken Wagner or remove PrigozhinIn turn, tweeted Rob Lee, a researcher at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in the United States. According to him, “the greatest impact will be felt in the Middle East and Africa, where Wagner is very present.” For François Chauvancy He, on the contrary, is not sure that Prigojine will be punished for this uprising: “Maybe he will even take his seat in Saint Petersburg to continue campaigning for influence, especially against France,” he believes.

What consequences for Vladimir Putin and Russian power?

“The only safe conclusion is that the Putin regime is weak and the criminals are devouring each other,” said Olga Prokopieva, spokeswoman for Russia-Freedoms. “There are only losers” in this aborted rebellion, notes Sylvie Bermann, former French ambassador to Russia between 2017 and 2019, on franceinfo. For her, not only is “Evguéni Prigojine the loser of fate”, but also Russia, in that she offers “the picture” of a country that is not doing well. In this affair, too, “Vladimir Putin is the loser,” says the former ambassador. The diplomat recalls that “stability was the watchword and the most important asset” of the Russian president, who “on the eve of the intervention in Ukraine wielded full power in Russia and was respected around the world as a powerful man”.

“We feel weakened, even if Putin’s power has never really been questioned.”

Sylvie Bermann, former French Ambassador to Russia

on franceinfo

“Wagner’s rebellion destroyed the myth of the unity of all Russia behind its president,” adds Françoise Daucé. She believes that this rebellion “stole the idea of a sacred union from behind the president by exposing the divisions within power itself.”

“The Kremlin is now faced with a deeply unstable balance (…) The Prigoyine uprising has revealed serious weaknesses,” emphasizes an analysis by the American think tank Institute for the Study of War. On the Kiev side, we also emphasize the shortcomings revealed by this mutiny. That’s what Mykhaïlo Podoliak, adviser to the Ukrainian presidency, says “Prigozhin humiliated Putin and shown that there is no longer a monopoly on the use of force.”

The Russian authorities must therefore react and let Prigoyine face the consequences of their actions, believes analyst Samuel Bendett. “Otherwise, the message is that a military power can openly challenge the state and others need to understand that The Russian state has a de facto monopoly on the use of force in the country‘ this researcher at the Center for Naval Analyzes tweeted.

Can this episode affect the conflict in Ukraine?

Wagner’s failed uprising will “in no way” affect Russian forces in Ukraine, the Kremlin was quick to announce on Saturday night. However, the impact on frontline troop morale is more questionable than ever. Former ambassador Sylvie Bermann reiterates that the war in Ukraine “is out of the question”, the uprising of the Wagner militias, albeit temporary, can nonetheless represent a kind of “victory for the Ukrainians who have stepped up their offensive”. During his televised address on Saturday, Vladimir Putin assured that this would not change his determination to fight a war, but that he emerged from it “mentally weakened”.

According to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, the Ukrainian army also launched offensives against Russian forces on the Eastern Front on Saturday night, calling for “advances in all directions.” However, it is difficult to say whether Wagner’s uprising can have a direct impact on Russian forces stationed at the front. “Wagner is designed for attack, not for defense‘ researcher Rob Lee recalled on Twitter. “Their role during Ukraine’s counteroffensive was never clear.”

He finds it in his garden, nobody had ever seen a similar species: absurd NanoPress Travel

A truly curious story, told of a species that has never been seen before. You find it in the garden of the house, what is it about? Let’s discover this story together.

Find species in the home gardenFind species in your home garden – travel.nanopress.it

Nature really surprises us again and again. In addition to the species already known, there are just as many that are discovered each year. Others have already been studied, but are very rarely found. And even less often it happens that ordinary citizens come across them. Today’s story is incredible for that too. Let’s see where it happened.

He finds it in the backyard, that’s it

You’ve probably heard of it moths. Well, that’s not an animal you can’t see, you might think. Absolutely not. These are insects that belong to the Lepidoptera family. They are unlike butterflies, which belong to the same class, of nocturnal animalsmaking them easier to spot at sunset.

Although they are creatures of the night, they are subject to the phenomenon of phototaxis, which makes them strongly attracted to light sources. Perhaps because, as some scientists believe, they can orientate themselves better.

Contrary to what you might think, these are not poisonous insects, but they are annoying. In fact, they feed mainly on organic waste, bark and nectar. But also from wool and keratin, which is known to be found primarily in wool, but also in human skin and hair. Because of this, they are also found in closets and drawers in homes.

Find it in the gardenHe finds it in the garden – Viaggi.nanopress.it

Aside from the nuisances, moths also play an important role in folklore. In many cultures they are associated with bringers of bad luck, in the past they were even thought to be witches who died in search of their bodies. Native Americans, on the other hand, consider them almost sacred. This order includes a very special and very difficult to find variant. It also moves at night and due to a peculiarity, it can be difficult to spot it.

You will understand, therefore, a man’s surprise when he finds it in the garden of his house and at first is not quite sure what he is seeing. Is called Dryocampa Rubicunda.

The Dryocampa Rubicunda, a very colorful insect

The sighting actually took place in a garden of a home in North America. The family who came across the strange specimen is was absolutely amazed.

There Dryocampa Rubiconda belongs to the moth genusbut to the family of the Saturnids, i.e. gods butterflies. This one in particular doesn’t even look like a human being, but maybe like a drawing for a cartoon, maybe a manga.

The reason? the very special colour: yellow and pink! Truly extraordinary as it seems that everything about her, from her antennae to her legs, is painted in a delicate pink in all its shades. Very difficult to spot and in fact none of the family members who sighted it had ever seen a similar species before.

Dryocampa has an essentially downy body and colors can vary from creamy to bright. He prefers to live in maple trees. It is no coincidence that its ideal habitat is North America. Here it is often referred to as “the pink maple moth”.

dryocampa rubicundaDryocampa Rubicunda – travel.nanopress.it

It’s an interesting way to see them in the wild. It has always fascinated entomologists and experts for its beauty and unique properties of insects from all over the world. It has stinging hairs, but its larvae do not pose a significant threat to humans or the ecosystem. The specimens reach a size of up to 4.4 centimeters.

However, unlike moths, Dryocampa doesn’t risk infesting closets, so the North American family welcomed their discovery in the garden with aplomb. Its diet consists mainly of maple leaves. If you are in one of the most comfortable areas for you, that is Canada, Nova Scotia, Ontario, you should not miss the opportunity to take some beautiful photos in macro mode.

Lula assures that Brazil is making progress by resuming dialogue with the world

“Brazil has returned to dialogue with the world, working for peace, fighting inequality and caring for the environment,” Lula wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Listing uneven progress since taking office on January 1, he stressed that “we started paying the Bolsa Família in June, with the highest average in history.”

This program reaffirms the administration’s commitment to reducing social inequality and securing the livelihood of the neediest families.

He pointed out that guidelines have been published for the plan for a dignified menstruation and the distribution of absorbents, an initiative aimed at supporting women in vulnerable situations and providing them with adequate conditions of hygiene and well-being.

10,000 new jobs have been announced for More Doctors, a program aimed at strengthening the South American giant’s healthcare fabric to ensure quality care for the population, especially in the most vulnerable areas.

In the same vein, Lula strummed that “we have raised the subsistence level to 600 reais ($125),” a set of fundamental fundamental rights that guarantee every human being a dignified life, specifically ensuring a decent minimum wage and in line with fundamental needs.

In his Sunday statement, the Labor Party founder pointed out that he met Pope Francis and heads of state at the Vatican this week “for the development of the world and the fight against inequality”.

The appointment as Pope was an opportunity to examine the convergence of expressions that characterize the bilateral and multilateral pattern of relations between the parties.

“The positions of Brazil and the Holy See are consistent on issues of peace and international security, disarmament and non-proliferation, human rights, refugees, globalization, fight against hunger and poverty, trade negotiations for development and environment,” said an official note. .

In meetings with foreign leaders, the former trade unionist increased dialogue and international cooperation for a fairer world.

In the publication, Lula reiterates that the country is making progress and that its government is determined to reclaim the rights of the Brazilian people.

Return or flop With this film Amber Heard wants to

Return or flop? With this film, Amber Heard wants to establish herself again in Hollywood

After the legendary verdict at the trial of ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has been quiet. The actress actually turned her back on Hollywood and disappeared from the scene for a few months. A few weeks ago, the 37-year-old woman was spotted with her daughter by photographers in Spain. In the course of reporting, it emerged that Heard had moved to Madrid to start a new life with daughter Oonagh.

New project

In fact, the actress did not want to return to her old job, but now she presents her new film in Italy. On Saturday, she’s perfectly styled and in good spirits on the red carpet at the film’s premiere.

As part of her new project “In the Fire”, Heard wants to show her best side again and re-establish herself as an actress in the industry. “It’s a beautiful film about the almost supernatural effect and power of love. It’s about the limits that love can transcend, about its creation and really about the overwhelming power that love has”, says Heard in an interview with “Revista People” .

In the thriller, Heard plays a psychiatrist seeking treatment for a distressed child at a time when psychiatry was not yet an accepted science. “Set in 1899, the film follows a 38-year-old American psychiatrist who arrives on a wealthy plantation in Colombia after being called upon to solve the case of a troubled child believed to be possessed by the devil,” reads the press release. .

Hollywood comeback?

A few weeks ago, the former Johnny Depp also celebrated his big comeback as an actor. “Jeanne du Barry” opened the renowned Cannes Film Festival. Depp was once again welcomed with open arms by audiences and the film industry alike. After the premiere, the actor received numerous inquiries and landed major advertising deals.

Amber Heard also hopes for something similar. Because she wants to burnish her image and dare a new start. The actress is expected to reprise her role as Mera in Aquaman. A first trailer shown at CinemaCon 2023 aims to prove that. Whether this is really true remains to be seen.
