Air quality was considered poor in Saguenay on Friday morning, particularly in Chicoutimi and Arvida. In Lac-Saint-Jean, where the situation was more stable, it was considered acceptable by the instrument that measures particulate matter in the atmosphere on behalf of the government.

However, according to Environment Canada, the amount of smog in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean is expected to increase over the weekend. Air quality will be poor in Lac-Saint-Jean at least until Sunday.

On the Saguenay side, air quality remained acceptable on Friday evening but is expected to deteriorate from Saturday.

According to meteorologist Jean-Philippe Bégin, the smoke plume is expected to thicken over the region on Saturday and Sunday, which could pose an increased health risk due to fine particles.

As anachronistic as such a situation may seem, there are still many people who, for various reasons, feel more comfortable with the man footing the bill on a straight date.

A 2022 study published in the journal Psychological Reports showed that traditional norms are still entrenched among young people. The researchers used a sample of 552 heterosexual college students to answer questions about gender roles. When asked who should pay on dates, more than half said men should take care of everything on the first date and then pay “the bulk” on subsequent dates. A retired German physicist was reportedly nudged several times violently by an orca on his yacht off the Shetland Islands in Scotland on Monday. An incident of this type is the first to occur in the North Sea.

Wim Rutten, 72, fished for mackerel on his solo voyage across the sea from the Shetland Islands to Bergen, near Norway, reports Global News.

At the stern of his boat he saw a large black fin for the first time. Seconds later, the man faced the giant orca charging towards him.

The pensioner told Britain’s The Guardian newspaper that after the whale disappeared briefly after the initial attack, the animal returned to the boat, pursued it two or three more times and then circled the ship.

Despite the “little bumps” the orca made on the aluminum hull, Rutten confirmed the scariest moment was hearing the sound of the whale.

“The sound of the animal’s heavy breathing was terrifying,” he said.

According to researcher Jeroen Hoekendijk from the Royal Netherlands Institute, this meeting seemed “really special” as it marks the first event of its kind in the North Sea.

The Atlantic Orca Task Force, a research organization for killer whales, said these types of incidents have tripled over the past two years, with more than 200 episodes in 2022 compared to 52 in 2020.

A father and son who gave up both of their tickets for the doomed Titan submersible said OceanGate’s CEO flew on a “test plane” to persuade them to buy tickets.

Financier Jay Bloom had refused tickets for himself and his son Sean to board the sub, fearing they would not survive the trip.

Speaking to NewsNation, Bloom said concerns were raised after Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate, who coordinated the trip, flew to Las Vegas to convince him to board a “test plane.”

Blood told the news channel, “It was very concerning.” The biggest red flag for my son came when Stockton visited me in Las Vegas in March.

“I look at the picture of the father and son who replaced my son and I and think how easily our picture could have been in the news if it weren’t for the grace of God.”

“When Stockton first approached me with the idea, it sounded very sexy, very exciting, a real bucket list item.”

In a Facebook post, he said: “I raised safety concerns and Stockton told me, ‘While there’s obviously a risk, it’s a lot safer than flying a helicopter or even scuba diving.’

Less than two hours after diving to the shipwreck last Sunday, the submarine with five people on board lost communications with its operator OceanGate Expeditions.

A large-scale rescue operation involving planes and a fleet of ships had been moved to the area 400 miles southeast of Newfoundland, Canada, because the submarine was running low on oxygen supplies.

It was announced on Thursday that the five men on board were killed instantly after the submersible suffered a “catastrophic implosion”.

Aboard the ship was one of Pakistan’s wealthiest men, Shahzada Dawood, along with his son Suleman, British billionaire Hamish Harding, CEO Rush and French explorer Paul-Henry Nargeolet.

The search for the men of the 21-foot submarine ended disastrously when a remote-controlled submarine belonging to a Canadian ship found debris on the seabed.

“The implosion would have produced a distinct, broadband noise that the sonar buoys would have picked up,” US Coast Guard Rear Admiral John Mauger said at a news conference today.

It would have been instant death for the men, some of whom had paid $250,000 each to see the famous shipwreck.

It’s a heavy blow to their families, experts say, and there’s little prospect of their remains being recovered.
