The Dave Matthews Band brings the hits along with some new songs to the Star Lake Show – TribLIVE

The Dave Matthews Band returned to the Pavilion at Star Lake on Friday night for their mostly annual trip.

The band is currently touring in support of their new album, Walk Around the Moon, which was released in May. It is the band’s first studio album since 2018.

“The band is in a really good mood right now,” singer-songwriter/guitarist Dave Matthews said in an interview in May. “Right now, at least, we all shine a positive light on each other, laugh a lot and enjoy making music together.”

Opening with the ever-popular 41, to the delight of nearly 14,000 fans, the band played the 21-song set with a mix of covers (Led Zepplin’s Fool In The Rain, The Beatles’ I Want You (She’s So Heavy)) and Brick House by The Commodores), fan favorites like Dancing Nancies, Gray Street, Granny and What would you say, plus four songs from their new album (Walk Around The Moon, Madman’s Eyes, After Everything and Monsters). The full setlist is below.

During the show, Matthews mentioned how much he loved Pittsburgh and how tough love was there.

The band last performed at Star Lake in August 2021. Dave Matthews performed at a rally for then US Senate nominee John Fetterman at Stage AE on the North Shore last October.

They ended the night with their rendition of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower,” complete with a “Stairway to Heaven” outro. This show was also broadcast live on the DMB channel on Radio Sirius XM as part of the Dave Matthews Band’s Friday Night Concert Series.

Assault charges against Raiders WR Davante Adams dropped after he shoved a Kansas City cameraman in October – Yahoo Sports

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams will not be charged with assault after his case was dropped on June 5, a Kansas City District Court spokeswoman said Friday.

The case stems from an incident in October when Adams pushed a cameraman immediately after the Raiders’ 30-29 loss to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Adams shoved the cameraman while the wideout headed to the locker room. He apologized shortly afterwards the incident.

Adams was not suspended by the league but was charged with assault by the state of Missouri and had to appear in court on June 26.

Although criminal proceedings against Adams have been dropped, the victim, identified as Park Zebley, filed a civil assault allegation against Adams in May. This case is still pending. He also named the Chiefs, the Raiders and two other companies in the lawsuit.

Zebley, who worked for a local business contracted by ESPN, said in the lawsuit that he feared for his life after the incident, was diagnosed with symptoms of a concussion and was harassed online.

JR Hobbs, Adams’ attorney, declined to comment Friday.

Adams and the Raiders return to Arrowhead on Christmas Day.

Wagner’s uprising: the uprising of Prigoyine, a personal challenge for Putin and a break with no return

Russia

Article reserved for subscribers

War between Ukraine and RussiaAkteWith his coup on Russian soil, Wagner’s boss has crossed the red line: the lord of the Kremlin is now making him a “traitor” who needs to be eliminated. The pro-power elites will certainly maintain their loyalty to Putin even if his image is now tarnished.

It is often forgotten in the story of Frankenstein that Frankenstein is referring to the scientist, the ruthless inventor of the monster, rather than the creature itself, which has no name in the original Mary Shelley novel. In today’s Russia at War, Vladimir Putin is Victor Frankenstein. But his creature has a name: Evgueni Prigoyine, the leader of the Wagner paramilitary group, who has just escaped from his creator by capturing the Rostov-on-Don headquarters of military operations carried out in Ukraine, and then firing his troops towards Moscow.

The brutal warlord, known for his provocative videos shot on the battlefield, had stopped pushing the boundaries of “acceptable” in Putin’s Russia in recent months, to the astonishment of observers. His denunciation of the army’s lack of support for Wagner’s front-line units, his frontal criticism of Russian military strategy in Ukraine, of the high command and then of the defense minister himself, Sergei Shoigu, had never been punished before

Anna Zafesova quotIts a real coup And whatever happens Putin

Anna Zafesova: "It’s a real coup. And whatever happens, Putin will look very bad" The HuffPost

“The Italian media struggles to call things by their proper name. What’s going on is a coup.” Journalist Anna Zafesova gets straight to the point in an interview with Huffpost. At a time when 25,000 heavily armed men occupy a city of one million people, a key hub for operations in Ukraine and for control of southern Russia, to call it anything else would be an understatement. Whatever the outcome, Vladimir Putin will emerge with broken bones. With each outcome, the image of the tsar is significantly weakened, because believe it or not, the attempted coup is real. So out of his control. The variables for success are numerous and therefore potentially difficult to achieve. One thing is certain: what happens on Russian territory will inevitably have repercussions on Ukrainian ones.

Anna Zafesova, this raises the question of how the army will position itself, whether with or against Putin. Could it be the top of the scale?

I think the secret services and Putin’s magic circle are the real key. We have already seen that the army is not very keen on fighting. It is one thing to do it for Russia in Ukraine, where they are already doing it involuntarily, it is one thing to prevent an apparent feud between Prigozhin and Shoigu. Moreover, on their territory. I think it will be more interesting to see where the powerful forces line up, to use an Italian term. And what army then? Although there have also been coups by smaller military groups in Russian history, Putin was supposed to call back soldiers from Ukraine to stop Wagner and thus guard the front. Unless he wants to bomb his own cities: a scenario that is not only unsettling but I don’t know where it will take him.

What does the taking of Rostov mean?

This is an army that has invaded a key city to control southern Russia and the Caucasus and wage war. Initially, some confused it with Rostov to the north – they are about 1,500 km apart, ed. Red. – but it’s not the same. While this is comparable to the Italian city of Orvieto, in this respect it is similar to taking Turin. Here you control the south of Russia.

There are those who believe that everything is organized.

The Italian media finds it difficult to call things what they are: it is a coup. There may be similarities to the one invented by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but the difference is that the Turkish president had and has an organized opposition, while Putin does not. He doesn’t need a casus belli to declare martial law or dismiss Shoigu, for example. All of this could have been organized cold-heartedly, or with a high-profile murder, as has happened in the past. There was no need to launch an armed insurrection that would destroy his image, even if he managed to tame it.

Some reports speak of Putin’s escape. Is that a realistic scenario just a few hours after the start of the coup?

Everything is possible, from the movement of private planes we can deduce what the result will be. During the night we saw Lukashenko’s plane take off, but we don’t know if he was on board. Nexta – the news agency for Eastern Europe, note d. Red. – reported that Putin had left for St. Petersburg. Perhaps this flight was not carrying him, but special forces. Anyway, I don’t know how good this is since it’s both Putin’s and Prigozhin’s hometown. It would be better to seek refuge elsewhere.

How will it come out?

In any case, Putin does very poorly. Let’s say Prigozhin arrives in Moscow, Putin is at least politically dead. If instead he managed to stop him, he still had a coup at home. Also because Prigozhin is the fruit of Putin’s system, i.e. the replacement of the state by a court. He’s a former criminal who got rich off the contracts he got and built his own army of convicts because Putin had the brilliant idea that a private army could help him.

He says that in the end, trusting him and giving him too much power wasn’t a smart move.

He let the genie out of the lamp and then asked him to come back inside. It is impossible. He couldn’t imagine that everything would remain under his control. If he succeeds in eliminating Prigozhin and thus triggering a civil war, he will come out of it enormously weakened.

What if it was Prigozhin who stopped?

Even if Wagner boss realizes he doesn’t have the strength and wants to keep Rostov to turn it into a pirate republic, a scenario that remains plausible, Putin would have no moral qualms about bombing one of his cities. However, I don’t know how badly the army wants that.

I provoke. What if there was a Western hand behind all of this, fanning the flames of internal divisions to overthrow the Putin regime?

I doubt it. Perhaps Prighosin also sought contact, but I think it is more likely that he spoke to Kiev. That’s more likely. If he wants to go to Moscow, he will inevitably have to hear from Russia’s enemies. His words yesterday about the wartime untruths being spread by the Defense Ministry, but especially about the false reason why Moscow launched the invasion, suggest that before saying such things, he confronted the Ukrainians. Their official position is that the weaker Russia gets, the better off they are. Now they can’t take advantage of it anymore. And then there is another element that leads me to believe that there were contacts between Prighosin and Kiev.

Which?

A few days ago there was a drone strike on the outskirts of Moscow that was little talked about because it’s now routine until it hits a target. But these seemed particularly aimed at the base of the Russian Army’s armored division, which normally intervenes in Moscow in the event of a coup. I wonder: is this a coincidence within the logic of war, or an attempt to eliminate the most likely line of defense in the event of a coup? Of course it’s a chance for Kiev. The question is are they watching this with popcorn in hand or is there more to their involvement.

asks Lula "common sense" Negotiates EU Mercosur Trade Pact by Portal UK

June 24 (Portal) – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Saturday urged the European Union and Mercosur to put aside their arrogance and use common sense to negotiate the long-awaited trade deal between the blocs.

“It is important to remember that we need the EU and it needs us very much. That’s why it’s important that we put arrogance aside for a bit and try to use common sense when negotiating. And that goes for us and it goes for.” “You,” Lula told reporters in Paris.

The Brazilian left-wing leader said he had discussed the parties’ differing positions on the deal with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

“I think it’s normal that France is trying to defend its agriculture,” added Lula.

“It may be a more difficult turning point, but it’s normal that they also understand that Brazil cannot do without state purchases,” he said, citing an unwanted purchase clause in the agreement that allows European companies to sell to the Brazilian public sector for sale . .

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro agreed to the clause to speed up the deal. However, since taking office in January, Lula has insisted on removing her.

However, he explained: “No matter how big the disagreements are, it is possible that we will eventually come to an agreement. It is a law of nature and this is how we will achieve it.”

His comments came a day after he described an amendment to the EU deal that sets out commitments on climate change and introduces sanctions for countries that fail to meet climate targets as a “threat” to Brazil.

The deal was reached in 2019 after lengthy negotiations but was shelved due to European concerns over deforestation in the Amazon.

Berlin During the confrontation between the Russian military and the Wagner mercenary group, the focus is on the National Guard. President Vladimir Putin established the force in 2016 specifically to fight uprisings inside the country. Purely in terms of numbers, the National Guard is far superior to the units of Wagner’s founder, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

When it was founded almost exactly seven years ago, Putin had set a target of 350,000 to 400,000 guards. From the point of view of military observers, the actual strength must be about half of the advertised personnel. But that would still be significantly more than the estimated 25,000 Wagner mercenaries that Prigozhin led from Ukraine to Russia.

British intelligence released a balance of the situation on Saturday morning, showing that the loyalty of Russian security services, and especially the National Guard, will be crucial in the coming hours to determine the course of the crisis. This represents “the most significant challenge for the Russian state in recent times”.

Experts have no doubts about the loyalty of the National Guard. Putin entrusted General Viktor Zolotov with the leadership of the unit reporting directly to him. Margarete Klein wrote in an analysis by the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) that he was one of his closest confidants. “In case of a conflict with elite sectors, Putin has direct access to a paramilitary organization loyal to him.”

Officially, the Guard was created to repress illegal demonstrations and fight terrorism and insurgency. In addition to special police units and border guards, tens of thousands of soldiers equipped with helicopters, tanks and rocket launchers serve in it.

From the point of view of Western observers, the military equipment is probably also due to Putin wanting to create a counterweight to the regular army. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was unhappy with the establishment of the National Guard, said an observer familiar with the power structure in the Russian military apparatus. He had to take it as distrust of himself. “With reason.”

Also read this thread:

Even if the defense minister was loyal, he still holds a strong position in the government, which Western observers may see as a risk for Putin. In the now growing conflict, Shoigu is likely to be one of the losers, as Wagner’s boss Prigozhin attacks the minister personally.

He blames him for allegedly denying the mercenaries ammunition and military equipment. Furthermore, according to the most recent decree of the Russian government, irregular units like Wagner should have been integrated into the army and thus placed under the command of Shoigu.

If the National Guard now stops Wagner’s revolutionary mercenaries, Putin’s position must be strengthened. After all, the force under his command would stop Prigozhin-and not Shoigu’s regular army. Putin would demonstrate that he holds power in Russia in his hands.

According to Western experts, the National Guard was only initially involved in the war in Ukraine. She was assigned to keep calm in Kiev and help arrest members of the government. After Russia had to give up plans to capture the Ukrainian capital, the National Guard withdrew. Since then, they have not been involved in combat operations.

Microsoft has just announced a big change for Xbox France in its tough battle with the FTC to acquire Activision-Blizzard.

The soap opera continues

It’s now getting difficult to count all the twists and turns of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard. The Redmond-based company wants to acquire the studio at any price, but the various economic authorities around the world are making it difficult for it. The Federal Trade Commission, the regulator of the American market, recently decided to suspend the transaction. With good reason: Microsoft would have tried to force the takeover, while the British regulator CMA had rejected the takeover.

For its part, Microsoft has therefore embarked on a difficult showdown against the FTC and is trying everything for everything. As a reminder, if the transaction fails, the Redmond-based company will have to pay Activision-Blizzard $3 billion in compensation. While Microsoft awaits the outcome of this soap opera, it announces a change for Xbox France.

Xbox France is changing direction

The announcement was made in an official statement on the website yesterday XboxWire. Ina Gelbert, head of Xbox France since September 2019, is preparing to leave her post after 12 years at Microsoft to “embark on an entrepreneurial adventure outside of the video game industry”. She will be replaced by Cédric Mimouni, Gaming Category Lead Western Europe since 2021, who joined Xbox in August 2013.

First of all, I would like to thank Ina for the quality of her work on the Xbox brand and the effort to make it shine in France in many ways. Ina is my friend and we will miss her. It is with honor and humility that I continue my journey at Xbox, where I have spent the last ten years of my professional life in different roles and in different countries. I will put all my energies into continuing to make Xbox a great place for everyone in France. – Cedric Mimouni.

Ina Gelbert thanked her entire team and said she was ready “to implement a project that she had been thinking about for a long time.”

After four exciting years at the helm of Xbox in France, it’s time for me to take a career turn and pursue a project I’ve been thinking about for a long time. The last four years have been downright incredible and I can’t imagine how lucky I have been to be able to work on so many exciting projects, with such a great team, in an ecosystem full of creativity and innovation, most importantly promising and connecting. As a woman in the video game industry, I was passionate about promoting diversity and giving more visibility to talented women contributing to the industry, while also encouraging younger people to join us. I am convinced that diversity, and not just gender diversity, is a key driver of innovation and team success, and I hope that the various initiatives of Xbox in France have made it possible to highlight this issue in our beautiful sector (. ..).- Ina Gelbert
