Who will win the fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg after the billionaires agree to fight?

In the never-ending duel between two of the world’s richest tech titans, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have vowed to come out on top in a cage fight in Las Vegas.

While Musk is by far the wealthier of the two, being both heavier and taller than fellow meta Zuckerberg, the latter shows a great passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The Facebook founder posted to Musk on his Instagram account, urging him to “send me the location” after Musk tweeted Wednesday night boasting that he was “up for a cage fight if so.”

In response to an article by The Verge about the planned battle between the two tech giants, Musk responded to the location with a tweet: “Vegas Octagon.”

The social media taunts, appropriately echoed on the billionaires’ respective platforms, set the stage for an uproar in Silicon Valley that dwarfed the scale of the string of celebrity fights that have hit Las Vegas would.

Age, height and weight differences

Since Musk is 12 years his senior, Zuckerberg hopes to eclipse the Tesla CEO.

At 5’7″ and weighing around 150 pounds, Zuckerberg is the lighter and more nimble of the two and has fought and won in jiu-jitsu bouts.

Zuckerberg recently won two medals at a jiu-jitsu tournament and has said in the past that his diet is mostly vegetarian.

He shared, “This year I’ve basically become a vegetarian because the only meat I eat comes from animals I’ve killed myself.”

His favorite food reportedly is grilled chicken, although he has mentioned that he likes it for its high protein content.

In a previous episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Musk was candid about his fitness regime, saying, “The older I get, the tougher it gets.” [it is] stay slim, that’s for sure.’

After news of the fight spread on social media, Musk tweeted, “I hardly ever exercise other than picking my kids up and throwing them in the air.”

Musk has both size and weight on his side. Total Shape estimates that the billionaire weighs around 81 kg and is 1.75 meters tall.

Still, a spokesman for the fitness website said: “If Mark Zuckerberg locks both titans in a cage, he will have the agility and stamina needed to bring Musk down given Musk’s inability to catch him earlier in the game.” violently hitting film.”

With a fortune well over double that of Zuckerberg, Musk is proving to be the seemingly untouchable man in the world.

The CEO of Twitter reclaimed the crown as the world’s richest person, ousting luxury goods giant LVMH boss Bernard Arnault from the top spot earlier this month.

Because he derives most of his wealth from Tesla shares, a surge in the electric carmaker’s value earlier in the month puts him well ahead of Zuckerberg, who’s nine places behind Musk — making him the winner.

Meta vs Twitter

Musk took control of the social media giant last year and has so far had ups and downs operating the site, which has about 353 million annual users.

So far, he has been struggling with a staffing crisis after laying off 3,700 employees just days after being named CEO.

They found out when they couldn’t log into their email and work computers. Musk defended the layoffs, saying he had no choice as the company was losing $4 million a day.

With the job cuts, the first users of the website left in droves.

On the other hand, Meta, which includes sites like Facebook and Instagram, boasts over 3.7 billion monthly users worldwide — much more than Twitter.

While Meta, formerly known as Facebook, suffered a sharp drop in share price when it was first announced and went through a difficult transition, it has still remained a social media powerhouse.

On this front, Zuckerberg, who is largely responsible for the growth of social media through his Facebook page, is a clear winner.

companies

Zuckerberg’s meta is recognized as one of the most valuable companies in the world and ranks among the ten largest publicly traded companies in the United States.

With more than 77,000 employees (as of March this year) and total assets of 185 billion US dollars, the company is one of the Big Five American technology companies alongside Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft.

Last year, Musk carved his way into the social media world with his acquisition of Twitter.

He has also dabbled in space exploration with his company SpaceX and has a firm grip on the electric car market with widely popular automaker Tesla.

With companies growing across a broader range of topics such as space exploration, tunneling with The Boring Company and neurotechnology with Neuralink – gives the companies a tour of Musk.

Climate activist Nakate urges rich countries to forgive debt and provide climate finance at Paris summit – The Associated Press

PARIS (AP) – Before an audience full of suited world leaders and tax officials, Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate silenced the room and then shared some uncomfortable facts with everyone.

The UNICEF ambassador and activist was in a somber mood and requested a minute’s silence as he addressed a two-day summit aimed at finding better solutions to fighting poverty and climate change by transforming the global financial system.

Nakate wore a black T-shirt with the slogan “Divest Now” and said the silence was for “people around the world who are already suffering, starving, being displaced, dropping out of school, being forced into child marriage and losing their culture.” .” and history, those who are already helpless, hopeless and dying from the devastating effects of the climate crisis.”

Immediately after the summit, Nakate, host of French President Emmanuel Macron, urged delegates to put people first, not profit, hold polluters accountable, cancel debt and direct climate finance to the most vulnerable Judging countries that did not cause the climate crisis, while ensuring that the climate crisis is at risk. Fossil fuels are not part of their development.

“You need to think in trillions, not billions,” she said, underscoring her speech with depressing statistics about pollution and the growing global inequality between the rich and the have-not.

The summit brings together more than 50 heads of state, world finance officials and activists. They will discuss ways to reform the global financial system and tackle the debt, climate change and poverty crises.

In his speech, Macron called for massive investments for developing countries and said that no country should choose between “poverty reduction or protecting the planet”. He stressed the need for further investment from both the public and private sectors and the crucial role of international institutions.

Concrete steps taken by Senegal on Thursday included a deal with the European Union and western allies including France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada to support the country’s efforts to improve its access to energy and its To increase the share of renewable energy to 40% by 2030 The deal will mobilize 2.5 billion euros ($2.7 billion).

“Diversifying our energy sources and our supply chains will increase our resilience,” said Senegal’s President Macky Sall.

The Paris talks come as the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and a global debt crisis have led to falling life expectancy and rising poverty in most countries around the world, the United Nations Development Program reported.

Developing countries point to an outdated system in which the United States, Europe, China and other major economies that have caused the most climate damage burden the poorest countries with the consequences.

Among the key issues to be discussed in Paris are changes in the way the World Bank and International Monetary Fund lend and lend to the most vulnerable countries. Both institutions have been criticized for not factoring climate change into their lending decisions and for being dominated by wealthy countries like the US

Macron praised the International Monetary Fund’s initiative to provide more funds to low-income countries through special drawing rights. This is an international reserve balance held by the IMF that can be exchanged for hard currency.

“The international financial system is in crisis,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He praised the Special Drawing Rights initiative but criticized the way the funds were allocated: the European Union got $160 billion, while Africa got $34 billion.

“A European citizen received, on average, almost 13 times more than an African citizen. All of this happened according to the rules. But let’s be honest: these rules have become deeply immoral,” he said.

The Paris summit follows a plan by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley to give climate-vulnerable countries easier access to finance. Mottley and other advocates have argued that developing countries are forced to pay interest rates so high that they struggle to fund adaptation projects like levees, or green energy initiatives like large solar farms, or simply make payments on outstanding loans when impacted by climate disasters happen.

“What is being asked of us now is an absolute transformation — not reform — of our institutions,” Mottley said.

“I hope we leave Paris not only with the assurance that we are committed to protecting the planet, biodiversity and people, but also with the realization that if we don’t do it today, we won’t be able to.” act on a large scale and at a pace to get there in time to save more people,” Mottley said.

The Paris summit has no mandate to make formal decisions, French organizers stressed, but it aims to provide strong political impetus for key issues to be discussed at upcoming climate conferences and other international gatherings.

Climate activists and developing countries also urged rich countries to live up to their existing commitments.

Macron tweeted Thursday that experts said the pledge to provide $100 billion in aid to poor countries each year to deal with global change is “very likely to be met this year!” First made in 2009 and on The promise reaffirmed at the Paris climate summit in 2015 was never kept.

Summit participants could support a tax on greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping, with a view to adopting it at a July meeting of the International Maritime Organization.

To bring in more money, activists are pushing for a tax on the fossil fuel industry and another on financial transactions — two proposals that seem to have little support in wealthier countries.

Debt restructuring and debt relief are also up for debate as more and more countries struggle with unsustainable debt, exacerbated by climate change. Participants should discuss a debt suspension clause for countries affected by extreme climate events.

The summit was attended by many officials from poor and climate-prone countries, but only two members of the group of seven most developed countries – Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz – were in the audience. The US was represented by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Climate Commissioner John Kerry.

Attendees included China’s Prime Minister Li Qiang, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, World Bank President Ajay Banga and IMF President Kristalina Georgieva.

Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg say they’re ready for a cage fight

London CNN –

For two of tech’s most powerful billionaires, the business rivalry doesn’t seem to be enough. Now Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg say they want to settle scores in a cage fight.

Tesla (TSLA) Twitter owner and CEO Musk recently tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight” with Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta. In an Instagram Story Wednesday, Zuckerberg responded by posting a screenshot of Musk’s tweet with the caption “Send me location.”

Then musk answered on a tweet about the fight by Alex Heath, editor of tech news website Verge, with “Vegas Octagon” – a reference to the Las Vegas arena where the Ultimate Fighting Championship is held.

“I have this awesome move I call ‘The Walrus’ where I just lay down on top of my opponent and do nothing,” he added in a separate tweet.

CNN reached out to Meta for comment. A company spokesman told Verge: “The [Instagram] The story speaks for itself.”

It remains unclear whether Zuckerberg and Musk are serious or just laughing.

However, it remains to be seen who would win in a cage fight. Musk is physically taller than Zuckerberg, but the meta boss practices jiu-jitsu, the Brazilian martial art, and won gold and silver at a tournament in May.

Oddspedia, a sports betting site, compiled the odds from several different bookmakers including Bovada, Bet Online and Ladbrokes and concluded that Zuckerberg has an 83% chance of winning the fight.

Bookmaker Paddy Power, meanwhile, is betting there will never be a game but if it does both men have an equal chance of winning.

“If this fight does indeed continue, with any luck they will talk sense into each other,” a spokesman for the Irish company said in a statement.

The two – who fought for a top spot in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index in the past before Musk became the richest man in the world – have clashed before.

In 2017, they had a very public argument about the future of artificial intelligence.

Musk has repeatedly warned of the dangers of AI, calling it a potentially existential threat to humanity. Zuckerberg, on the other hand, was much more optimistic.

During a live Facebook broadcast at the time, he dismissed “naysayers” who outlined “doomsday scenarios” as “pretty irresponsible.”

Musk fired back shortly after, tweeting, “I spoke to Mark about this. His understanding of the subject is quite limited.”

Musk ousted Zuckerberg from third place on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index in 2020, before becoming the world’s richest person shortly thereafter.

He was briefly ousted from the top spot in December by Bernard Arnault, chairman of French luxury goods giant LVMH (LVMHF), before reclaiming his title in May. Zuckerberg is now in 10th place.

Adam Sandler married his “forever girl” Jackie 20 years ago today. Check out their wedding pictures.

Adam Sandler has reached a major milestone with his wife Jackie Titone Sandler: they have been married for 20 years.

The couple wed on June 22, 2003 at Dick Clark’s oceanfront estate in Malibu, California. The Happy Gilmore and Wedding Singer star, now 56, met the model-actress, now 48, a few years earlier on the set of his 1999 hit “Big Daddy,” in which she played a waitress at the local sports bar .

Adam slipped out of his signature sweatpants and a tuxedo for his big day and wore a white rose on his lapel, while his bride looked stunning in a spaghetti strap dress.

Also dressed to the nines was Adam’s beloved meatball bulldog. The dog wore a tailored suit for the occasion and wore a yarmulke for the Jewish ceremony. He reportedly served as a ring bearer and walked down the aisle. (Meatballs were popular; Adam was holding a Shiva when he died the next year.)

The wedding was confirmed on the actor’s website as it took place before Facebook and Instagram. “Adam got married…WOOPITY DOO!” read the announcement.

The guest list included Jennifer Aniston, Jack Nicholson, Rodney Dangerfield, Rob Schneider and Sharon Osbourne. Adam has since said that Tom Petty doomed his wedding. The late rock star was actually in a car accident on the nearby Pacific Coast Highway, Adam later said on The Dan Patrick Show, so the “Free Fallin'” singer went inside to make a call. (The marriage took place four years before the release of the first iPhone.)

“Tom Petty at Sandler’s wedding? What the hell is going on?” Adam remembered the words of his childhood friends from New Hampshire at the reception.

Petty didn’t perform, Sandler said, but singer and guitarist Leon Redbone did. There was a sentimental reason behind it. Apparently, Redbone was a favorite of Adam’s father Stan, who was dying of cancer. Stan promised he’d be at the wedding, so his son gave him the special entertainment as a thank you.

“It was done so my dad could have a great night,” Adam later said. “He was like, ‘That’s great,’ and my mom whispers to him, ‘You couldn’t say Pavarotti?'”

The story goes on

Stan, who died shortly after the wedding in September 2003, also received a greeting from Dangerfield. Sandler recalled the “Back to School” star walking into a room where a chemo-stricken Stan was resting and asking, “‘Where’s the dying guy?'” My dad says, “Hey, Rodney.” [Rodney’s] like, ‘Hey, I’m dying too.’” (Dangerfield died in 2004.)

The singer of “The Chanukah Song” also performed at his reception. He sang “The House of the Rising Sun” — “like I always do,” he told Patrick, adding with a laugh, “It’s a very romantic tune.”

He made up for it by writing a song for Jackie, which he performed. It was set to the tune of The Wedding Singer’s “I Wanna Grow Old With You.”

Jackie gave her new husband a bulldog puppy, Matzoball, as a wedding present.

Over the years, Jackie has acted in almost all of Adam’s film projects. You get the sense that she had a hand in creating the character – like when she played the “Great Looking Flight Attendant” in 2019’s “Murder Mystery.” However, the comedic actress/producer also does her own thing and has recently appeared in films (like Daddy Daughter Trip) with family friend Schneider, who got her an early break in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo.

They’re funny like dad and roast him in a speech he gave while accepting the Film Tribute Award at the 2022 Gotham Awards in November. It read: “Thank you mom for putting up with dad and his crazy mood swings all these years. This is truly an achievement worthy of a lifetime achievement award.”

Adam has called his wife of two decades his “eternal girl.” He said that when they met on July 31, 1998, “they looked into each other and fell deeply into each other.”

He said Jackie encouraged him to take on the role in Uncut Gems, for which he received many awards.

“My badass wife, she gave me the guts to do the role,” he said. “I was scared and she said, ‘Do the damn thing and you can do it,’ and we rehearsed together the whole time.”

A few months ago, Entertainment Tonight asked Adam about this anniversary milestone.

“Well, we’ve been together for 25 years [years]So we always pretend that this is our anniversary, the night we met,” he said. “But 20 is good.” Yes, 20 years of marriage, that’s nice.”

Jackie said in the same interview: “He’s extremely loyal. He’s a great, great friend. He’s a great person. A great friend. He’s funny all the time. That’s his personality. He always tries to make me laugh – and I always try to make him laugh to make it work.

2023 NBA Draft Info: Will the Hornets pick Brandon Miller or Scoot Henderson for 2nd pick? – Yahoo Sports

NEW YORK — The 2023 NBA draft takes place Thursday (8:00 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN) and there will be plenty of information and speculation as teams prepare for the big night. Victor Wembanyama is sure to be No. 1 heading to the San Antonio Spurs, but speculation still abounds as to what the No. 2 Charlotte Hornets will do, choosing between Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller.

Here’s a breakdown of all the current information on the draft.

(This page is continually updated with the latest information and information from across the league.)

Update from Thursday

Brandon Miller probably goes to Charlotte for number 2

Michael Jordan and the Hornets face a tough decision between 6-foot-9-Alabama wing Brandon Miller or 6-2 G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson at No. 2. Both Miller and Henderson practiced for the second time in Charlotte on Monday. The two players said the meetings and training sessions went well.

“I wasn’t that nervous training for Michael Jordan,” Miller told media on Wednesday. “I saw him sitting in the gym and just treated him like a normal person. Obviously it was like, ‘Whoa, that’s Michael Jordan,’ and that kind of motivated me. He makes you feel right at home and we had a great conversation.”

Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball was also present at both of Miller’s training sessions, and the two players spent some time getting to know each other off the field.

“LaMelo is a great young guy,” Miller said. “We spent some time together. The biggest relationship between him and me was cars. He has a nice collection of cars and hopefully one day he’ll let me drive this Rolls-Royce.”

Miller fits better off ball and can bring much-needed full defense and defensive versatility to a Hornets team that won just 27 games last year. The consensus in the league is that the Hornets will pick Miller or Henderson. Miller said he didn’t receive any commitments on Monday and said he probably won’t know where he or Henderson will be going until 30 seconds before the Hornets start the game.

“I’m not really nervous, I’m excited,” Miller said. “Wherever I end up, I’m ready to get to work and I feel comfortable coming in and doing my bit for both teams.”

Henderson also praised the Hornets and said he received positive feedback on Monday.

“My gut is, take me,” Henderson said Wednesday. “Just based on the player I am, based on what I bring with me every time I step on the field. They appreciated me coming in and doing this work. I’m just blessed to be here and to maximize my talent at the highest level in the NBA and I will do that wherever I end up.”

Update from Wednesday evening

Will Jazz Rise From No. 9 For Anthony Black?

Black is one of the most talked about draft picks, and could come off the board in 6th place in the Orlando Magic. The Jazz have three first-round picks (Nos. 9, 16, and 28) and could be looking to collect picks to trade for Black, the 5-foot-1 Arkansas guard. Black is arguably the fifth best candidate in this draft class, barring the team’s demands in terms of the way he views the field, passing at a high level, and playing elite defense on the edge.

Dereck Lively II Draft Series

Many believed that Lively, Duke’s 7-2 center, would finish in 10th place before draft week began. With Cam Whitmore potentially out, there is speculation that the Mavericks will either take Whitmore at No. 10 or swap picks.

Lively makes no promises, telling reporters Wednesday during his media availability, “My draft range is somewhere between 10 and 20, that’s the feedback I’ve gotten from teams and people around me.”

Lively’s late rise to the top can be attributed in large part to how productive he was during his pro day at Klutch Sports and his consistency in shooting the 3-ball in practice. Prior to his first season at Duke, Lively was the #1 recruit out of high school and was a two-sided threat offensively in pick-and-pop, playing alongside current Pistons forward Jalen Duren. With minor injuries and Duke leading the offense through Kyle Filipowski and Jeremy Roach, Lively faded away and became a defensive specialist protecting the rim. The NBA game is more focused on Lively and what he can do offensively as a 3-point threat.

Wednesday morning update

Moving in the lottery, Cam Whitmore reportedly falls out of the top 5

While a decision on No. 2 and what the Charlotte Hornets will do isn’t clear yet, the Detroit Pistons appear to have a few other players in their sights in addition to Whitmore, the 6-foot-tall Villanova guard.

Overtime elite guard Amen Thompson is the fourth-best pick in this draft class, and his twin brother Ausar could slip off the field in 5th place, tying the wing on the rim alongside Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey. A few other options include Arkansas guard Anthony Black, who has been high on many teams’ draft boards, or 6-8 forward Jarace Walker. Walker has one of the most NBA-fit physiques in this draft class and is a ready-to-play stretch 4 alongside Jalen Duren up front.

Whitmore could fall as low as 9th to the Utah Jazz or 10th to the Dallas Mavericks. At just 18, he has plenty of time to develop into a prolific guard at the NBA level.

There are a lot of playmakers coming to the top of the lottery who have yet to develop a consistent outside jump shot. With very few clean shooters expected in the first half of the draft, there could be room for consistent wide shooters like Jordan Hawkins and Gradey Dick to rise up the draft boards. Hawkins could rise to 8th on the Washington Wizards for shooting so well in his two seasons at UConn. Dick had a last-minute practice session with the No. 7 Indiana Pacers last week.

Bilal Coulibaly, Wembanyama’s teammate at the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92, has shot up draft boards and plays for either the 8th-ranked Wizards or the 9th-ranked Jazz, while many don’t see the 6-7 guard in a 7-3 wingspan that falls outside the lottery.

Tuesday update

Portland most likely stays in 3rd place and retains the pick

Both Brandon Miller and Scoot Henderson met with Michael Jordan and the Hornets on Monday, leading many to believe a decision has not yet been made as to which player they will pick with Thursday night’s second pick.

Portland was thought to be buying his No. 3 pick and taking phone calls, but two days after the draft, NBA sources told Yahoo Sports that they expect Portland to pick either Miller or Henderson with the third pick, rather than considering any trades, consider a more established, experienced player and/or lottery swap.

Both Henderson and Miller had strong practice sessions with the Trail Blazers leading up to the draft, with Miller reportedly hitting a high percentage of 3-pointers during practices.

Julian Phillips, Jaime Jaquez Jr. Late risers of the first round

Last year, it was the Denver Nuggets who picked UCLA freshman Peyton Watson with the 30th pick after Watson’s relatively quiet season, averaging just 3.3 points in 13 minutes per game. Established teams have flexibility towards the end of the first round and can switch out a player who has a lot of potential as an NBA winger.

Julian Phillips, a 6-foot-8 winger, averaged just 8.3 points during his season in Tennessee, but has great length and defensive versatility at the wing position. He did well in the NBA Draft Combine and has been solid in pre-draft practice for the teams. All through college, Phillips has been a scheduled mid-second-round pick, but with two days to go before the draft his draft range is likely somewhere between Nos. 25 and 35, and he could be a player fans hear about being named before the draft at the end of the first round.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. is one of the most reliable forwards in this draft class and was the tough guy for a very successful UCLA team for four years. Given what Caleb Martin did to get the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals, teams may be looking for a similar player in this draft class, and Jaquez fits the bill. He is a good height of 1.90 meters, weighs 110 kilograms, has a high basketball IQ and plays properly. He could go all the way to the 20th place Houston Rockets and is unlikely to fail the 27th place Charlotte Hornets.

To be born somewhere… Causeur.fr

Colombia. In the green jungle hell, four starving siblings aged 13 to 11 months miraculously survived alone for five weeks after a plane crash.

We were justifiably amazed to learn that four children aged thirteen, nine, four and one had been able to survive 40 days alone and with virtually no means in the jungle. They are the survivors of the crash of a light plane that took off from a place called Aracuarara and was trying to reach San José del Guavare, one of the most important cities in the Colombian Amazon. The pilot and one passenger die in the accident. The children’s injured mother is believed to have survived four days before dying in turn. Her four little ones are alone in the world. It seems that their mother would have advised them not to stay there near the wreckage of the plane and urged them to go and try to find their father.

Here they venture into the heart of the jungle on an incredible odyssey, a trek of forty days, bereft of everything, lost, left to their own devices in this hostile environment, if there ever was one. hostile ? For us, including adults, definitely. For them, although children, obviously much less. The proof: you survived. They knew what to eat and drink without putting themselves in danger. They knew where to rest and sleep, protected from predators, to avoid the myriad traps of the forest, in short, they managed to blend in with the environment and, in a way, appropriated it. It seems that the little one, who was just a baby, was bottle-fed for lack of milk with a liquid extracted from certain vines. A leader from the National Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of Colombia enlightened us on what we consider a child prodigy, a miracle, to the rest of us. “The survival of children is a testament to the knowledge and relationship that indigenous people have with nature, a bond that is taught from the womb,” he explained. Thanks to this connection, these four little castaways survived. That saved them, that enabled them not to despair, not to panic, not to go mad in the face of the green hell of the jungle. In other words, they survived in good physical and mental health because they belong to a people deeply connected to their roots and to the transmission of what makes them rich. It seems to me that behind the beautiful story of these Amazonian Tom Thumbs lies a fable that we should ponder, especially at a time in our history when we are constantly being praised for being broken. Breaking with everything, gender, historical and spiritual heritage, culture, family, landmarks, roots, especially roots… In short, according to the most modern preaching, the new man would be the “absolute uprooted, the utterly deconstructed”, now it is being urged to rely on some “artificial intelligence” to guide his destiny. By the way, wouldn’t this just be the ideal hominid that the “system” loved and would do their best to sell us for the survival and prosperity of this globalized jungle that we find ourselves in without good? Do you know where we’re going without a reliable compass? The small castaways from the forest survived. It seems high time for us to ask ourselves this question.

Submarine Titan, the oxygen is gone, but "There’s still time": Robot has reached the bottom where the Titanic is located Il Riformista

There is almost no hope of finding in time the Titan submarine Ocean Gate, which disappeared last Sunday, June 18, with five people on board and is making its way to almost 3800 meters depth to search for the wreck Visiting the Titanic up close in the Atlantic ocean off the coast of the Canadian island of Newfoundland. By Thursday morning, June 22, oxygen supplies are expected to be depleted for more than 90 hours. A race against time that hasn’t produced the desired results for the moment, and as time goes on, hopes of finding the submarine and with it the five people on board in time to save their lives become increasingly unlikely .

According to a US Coast Guard estimate, oxygen on board will end at 7:18 a.m., 1:18 p.m. Italian time today. Retrieving it and bringing it back to the surface requires ships, of which there are at least five in the area, and robots.

A first robot, piloted by the Canadian ship Horizon Arctic, has reached the seabed after the Titanic wreck surfaced. Deep-sea mini-robot Rov has begun exploring the seabed in hopes of finding Titan.

Ocean Gate: “There is still time”

For OceanGate co-founder Guillermo Söhnlein, the five people on board have a “Time windowlonger than most people realize. He told insiders, as reported by the Guardian. Söhnlein is no longer involved in the company but founded OceanGate alongside Stockton Rush, the company’s current CEO, who is one of the five people on board and remains a minority shareholder. He said he last spoke to Rush about two weeks before the expedition launched. “Today will be a critical day for this search and rescue mission as the sub’s life support supplies are slowly running out. I’m sure Stockton and the rest of the crew realized days ago that the best thing to do to secure the salvage is to stretch inventory boundaries while relaxing as much as possible. I firmly believe that the window of opportunity to save her is longer than most people think. I continue to have hope for my friend and the rest of the crew,” Sohnlein told Insider, saying he encourages everyone to “stay hopeful” about the recovery of the missing submarine and that he still has “hope” for his Freund and the missing submarine did rest of the crew.

Four hours to bring Titan back to the surface

According to David Gallo, the deep-sea explorer, it would only take a miracle for the people trapped in Titan, also because – he stressed – if it was found exactly in this last “time window” it would take hours to find it bring to the surface”. About four, according to other experts quoted by the BBC: “We don’t know how long it would take, but in a normal operating scenario we estimate it would take around two hours to shut down and another two hours (around to start up again),” explain Alistair Greig, Professor of Marine Engineering at University College London, and Rob Larter, Marine Geophysicist at the British Antarctic Survey.

The robot descends to a depth of 6,000 meters

The searches continue unabated Sounds from the Atlantic region, which is considered “sensitive”, are “credible and repeated“But the submarine has not yet been located. Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Gallo said of the sounds from the seabed: “At this point we have to assume it’s the submarine and move quickly to that point, locate it and lower the robots.” but “it takes hours to bring it to the surface”. For experts, it’s not just the lack of air that’s the only danger: the bathyscaphe may also have lost electricity, which plays a fundamental role in controlling oxygen and carbon dioxide levels: when carbon dioxide levels rise, it acts as a sedative. an anesthetic gas that puts you to sleep.

Sky News reports that the French ship Atlante has reached the area where the submarine is missing with a robot diving thousands of meters deep. robot who can dive up to 6,000 meters deep: It is said, not surprisingly, Victor 6000 and is equipped with remote-controlled arms that can be used to cut cables and perform maneuvers to free a stranded ship. According to Marine Traffic, the ship Atalante has slowed its speed to six sea knots and is about 20-30 km from the “mother ship” Polar Prince.

Who is on board the submarine: billionaires and pundits. The trip cost $250,000 each

The five people on board include a pilot and four “experienced” passengers. According to journalistic reconstructions resulting from the social activity of those involved, the French pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet and the British billionaire Hamish Harding, known worldwide for his exploits, are said to be on board. Harding flew into space last year aboard the fifth commercial flight of Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos’ space company. His stepson Brian Szasz confirmed his presence on the bathyscaphe in a Facebook post.

They are also joined by Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Sulaiman Dawood, according to a family statement released on Tuesday. Shahzada Dawood is a Trustee of the SETI Institute, a research organization in California. OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush is the fifth crew member on the ship, ABC News confirmed. Even the salvage options would be a challenge if the exact location of the submarine was to be pinpointed due to the great depth of the sea in these areas.

Who is the “survivor” of the Titan submarine?

The excursion was canceled at 3800 meters From depth because it was…”unconvinced” of the security conditions. His name is Chris BrownShe is 61 years old and had booked the trip with Titan Submarine of the Ocean Gate to visit the wreck of the titanic. Shortly before the departure, which took place on Sunday June 18, he canceled everything. His statement is made by the tabloid The Sun, which underscores how Brown had arranged the trip with his friend Hamish Harding, one of the five missing from the sub.

Controversy erupts on social media: “Hundreds of migrants swallowed up by the sea”

Immediate intervention with planes, sonar and remote-controlled submarines to save three billionaires on a journey into the abyss, malicious inaction while hundreds of migrant women and children are engulfed by the waves: double standards, real and alleged, on social media denounced by shipwrecks and searches within days. The controversies, which have seen thousands of tweets and posts circulated across the web, concern two accidents that happened thousands of miles apart but just days apart.

The societal controversy arises from comparing the means employed and the speed of rescue in the North Atlantic with what happened on the night of June 13-14, when a boat that was monitored for some time and then at the mercy of Greece was at the mercy of Greece for hours sank in the waves: At least 80 confirmed dead, but witnesses agree that hundreds were swallowed by the sea.

For example, Susie Symes tweetsEconomist, President of the UK Immigration Museum: “There is a painful contrast between the international rescue teams searching for people trapped in the submarine (we hope they will) and the glaring lack of help for the migrants on the boat .”

All too unfair, even according to Ben Coates, journalist and author, on duty between Britain and Holland: “The Titanic tourists sink in the submarine and the whole world watches while the Navy spares no expense to find them; Hundreds of migrants are sinking with an overcrowded boat: let’s hope you can swim, you losers.” The same phrase appears in the profile of Ethics in Bricks, a sort of “philosophy in bricks” in Italian. The indictment is posted above a photo of Lego-style teddy bears left behind by drowned children with no one trying to rescue them.
