Following the world premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in Rome on Monday, critics and fans who had the opportunity to see the film early on shared mostly flattering praise on social media.

The film, which follows 2018’s Fallout, was pushed back 90 minutes at its premiere after Cruise, 60, had an unscheduled meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Variety reported.

That apparently frustrated audiences, who were reportedly tired of watching repetitive footage of red carpet interviews at the Auditorium della Conciliazione.

However, the audience changed their mood with some “warm applause” after the man of the hour finally arrived, along with his director and longtime collaborator Christopher McQuarrie.

A majority of the main cast also attended the premiere, including Cruise’s former girlfriend Hayley Atwell and her co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Pom Kelmentieff, Shea Wigham and Esai Morales.

Reportedly, audiences in Rome were ecstatic when the Eternal City was featured in one scene on screen, and some people at the premiere cheered Cruise and shouted “Bravo Tom!” at the screen.
