Barney the Dinosaur is back and he has a new look

(CNN) — Barney is back, and while Mattel hasn’t officially confirmed it yet, we suspect he still loves you.

Toy giant Mattel announced on Monday that Barney, the friendly (and, let’s be honest, an embarrassment to a large group of millennials who saw him as preschoolers) purple dinosaur, will make a triumphant return to TVs and bookshelves next year. Thanks to the switch from live action to animation, he’s now getting wide-eyed, too.

The show “Barney & Friends,” starring the eponymous purple T-Rex, aired on PBS in the United States from 1992 to 2010. Mattel said Monday that the new show will be animated, unlike the original. So there won’t be an actor in a dinosaur costume marching and singing to the little kids.

A Mattel spokesperson told CNN that there is no concrete news yet on whether the rebooted Barney will be on PBS, but added that the company has “confirmed broadcast partners, which we will announce later in the year.” PBS could not immediately be reached for comment.

Mattel said the new franchise will include TV content and Alphabet’s own YouTube content, as well as music and a wide range of merchandise including toys (of course), clothing and books. The company’s Mattel Studios unit is working with Nelvana, a studio of Canadian media company Corus Entertainment (CJREF), to co-produce the new series.

“In creating the new series, it was important to us that it appropriately reflect the world children live in today so that it can provide meaningful lessons in navigating it,” said Fred Soulie, general manager of Mattel Television, in the statement. Press.

“With our modern take on Barney, we hope to inspire the next generation to listen, care and dream big,” added Soulie.

Mattel’s television division, which also recently brought back its Monster High and Masters of the Universe franchises, hopes to reconnect with young and middle-aged adults who are longing for their childhood days.

For those of you who grew up watching the original Barney show and admit that you enjoy him and his friends like BJ the yellow protoceratops and Baby Bop the green triceratops, Mattel hopes you’ll also find Barney toys and -Want to buy gifts from the old school.

“We will tap into the nostalgia of the generations who grew up with Barney, now parents, and bring the iconic purple dinosaur to a new generation of kids and families around the world through new content,” said Josh Silverman, director of global franchising and Mattels Head of Consumer Goods, in the statement.

Mattel could use its most successful toys. The company announced disappointing holiday earnings and sales and a sluggish outlook last week, and its shares plunged more than 10% on the news. Rival Hasbro is also suffering from weak demand for toys.

"No evidence of extraterrestrial activity"White House Alerts Airborne Demolition

With few confirmed details from the White House, the downing of three unidentified aerial objects in as many days by US warplanes has sparked wild speculation as to what they were and where they came from. It even led the president’s press secretary to say Monday there was no evidence of “alien activity.”

US President Joe Biden had no public events Monday and has offered little explanation after the discovery of a Chinese spy balloon crossing the country and the unprecedented peacetime shootdowns that have taken place.

US officials said they had little information about the three objects, which were shot down first off the coast of Alaska on Friday, then over Canada on Saturday and finally over Lake Huron on Sunday. But these launches were part of a larger response to post-balloon aerial phenomena, which has been attributed to a Beijing espionage program.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre issued a blunt statement to try to mollify the unverified theories: “I know there have been questions and concerns about this, but there aren’t, I repeat, there are no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity”.

The US government insists that none of the three objects posed a threat to the country’s security and that even the massive spy balloon provided “limited additional capabilities” to other Chinese surveillance programs. However, they were shot down “out of caution,” said John Kirby, spokesman for the National Security Council.

Biden’s unprecedented decision to shoot down four objects in flight over North America in eight days – coupled with efforts by US officials to publicly downplay the foreign threat – has fueled the dissonant messages about measures to protect the homeland.

US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, acknowledged the confusion and said the administration wanted to prevent the US public from becoming unduly concerned while trying to maintain a strong stance on China .

Also read US: “We don’t fly balloons over China” (VIDEO) Also read US accuses China of lying about spy balloon; Pentagon warns of another device in Latin America

Kirby said that while the United States has no particular reason to believe the airborne objects were spying, “we cannot rule it out”. He added that the recent objects flying between 20,000 and 40,000 feet (6,000 and 12,000 meters) could have posed a remote risk to civilian aircraft.

Some officials say the legal justification for the downings – that the objects could endanger civilian flights – is so long that it raises questions if it was just an excuse for tougher action.

Biden “wants to crack down on China, and this is a good example of how actions speak louder than words,” said Brian Ott, co-author of The Twitter Presidency: Donald J. Trump and the Politics of White Rage.

“If we find ourselves in a presidential debate between the two of us next year, Trump will try to paint Biden as weak on national security, and Biden will turn to Trump and be able to say, ‘How many of these Chinese balloons and unidentified objects ? shot down?'”

Ott, a professor of communications at Missouri State University, noted that Biden’s relative silence on the sinking of the Chinese globe and other objects may be aimed, at least in part, at his potential re-election bid in 2024. Republicans criticized Biden in the days after the Chinese balloon was spotted in US airspace for delay.

When asked if the decision to demolish the objects was a response to those criticisms, Kirby insisted that “they were decisions made purely and simply based on what is best for the American people.”
With little new information, senators from both parties demanded answers when they returned to Washington on Monday.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that senators would receive a confidential briefing Tuesday morning and that Congress would work in the coming weeks to “learn the full story of what happened.” Senator Dick Durbin, the second-ranking Democrat behind Schumer, said Biden “owes the country some answers.”

Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell said Biden must “communicate with the American people and be honest.” He questioned what the government knew about China’s espionage before the first balloon flew over the country.

After the balloon was launched, the White House revealed that such balloons had crossed the United States at least three times during the Trump administration without the knowledge of the former president or his advisers, and that others had flown over dozens of nations in other continents. Kirby emphasized on Monday that they were only discovered by the Biden administration.

Jim Ludes, a former national defense analyst who now directs the Pell Center for International Affairs and Public Policy at Salve Regina University, said political simulations are inevitable.

“It doesn’t matter what the government says. People will use it to make politics and try to score points,” he said. They will always say that “they acted too slowly or too hastily”.

There is good reason for the Biden administration to be cautious, Ludes added, noting that the dispute over the craft comes amid heightened tensions between China and Taiwan. A false testimony from Biden could destabilize an already tense situation.

“What will China do the next time we fly a B-52 through the straits?” Ludes asked. “There are possibilities for this to become very complex very quickly.”

On Monday, Kirby attempted to distinguish between the newest objects and the confirmed spy balloon, noting their much smaller size, lack of maneuverability, and lack of any indication they had communication links before being shot down.

They were only spotted, he said, because the United States adjusted the sensitivity of air defense radars to detect high-altitude, slow-moving objects like the spy balloon.

Officials have yet to recover any parts of the three unidentified objects, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said, citing hazardous terrain, water and weather where they were struck down as the cause.

US officials couldn’t even tell if they were balloons or some other type of aircraft, and have so far declined to share images taken before they were shot down.
It is clear, or at least it seems so, that it is not about extraterrestrial activities.

Kirby echoed Jean-Pierre’s point: “I don’t think the American people need to worry about extraterrestrials in relation to these objects.”

The spy balloon affair continues to strain Sino-US relations. On February 4, the US Air Force shot down a Chinese balloon. But then three more unidentified flying objects appeared in US and Canadian airspace this past weekend, sparking speculation about extraterrestrials on social media. The objects were smaller than the first balloon and flew lower. They were also slaughtered over the weekend. Whether these were also Chinese spy tools is still under investigation. But there are many clues. The US government has accused Beijing of using these balloons to spy on not just the United States, but more than 40 countries.

Legacy of Hogwarts: Legacy of Hogwarts | Overflowing Magic

Hogwarts Legacy is undoubtedly the most ambitious video game based on the Harry Potter universe: Hogwarts Legacy is of unprecedented generosity, both in visual and gameplay terms, not synonymous with inspiration.

Fresh off the shelves, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software and published by WB Games, is sure to inherit the title of most anticipated game of the year. It is that while the Harry Potter universe developed by JK Rowling may have attracted millions of young and old, the thirty games produced since 2001 have hardly mattered.

Sorry, your browser doesn’t support videos

Avalanche Software Studio, which was acquired by WB Games in 2017, first made the bold decision to wipe the slate clean and ban Harry Potter from JK Rowling’s game.

Ranrok’s Revolt

We follow in the footsteps of a boy or girl entering Hogwarts late, in their fifth year. The player chooses a name, an appearance and must lead it to catch up. Our player has a rare talent: he discovers ancient magic.

The greatest threat to the wizarding world is the evil goblin Ranrok, who is leading a revolution to make human wizards pay for centuries of injustice.

The graphics are great, from Hogwarts Castle to the surrounding villages, through the Forbidden Forest and the hidden caves where we’ll meet risen knights, trolls and spiders. The first challenge is to master all the magic of a fifth year student. The first hours are tedious, while homework or missions allow us to increase the number of spells mastered and the use of potions. We quickly have so many magic spells at our disposal that the four buttons on the controller are no longer sufficient. There are many, many, and it’s easy to get lost among all these Accio, Lumos, Expelliarmus, Evanesco, and Incendio, all of which have their uses.

caught in game

The dialogues, rather agreed, with our main character being very respectful to the point of seeming boring, don’t help us to be motivated. All of this smacks of a slightly too literal transcription of the Harry Potter universe that we didn’t dare take too many liberties with.

And one of those freedoms is particularly irritating: our character finds gear that makes him stronger but makes him look completely insane. It’s hard to believe when he speaks while wearing glasses that give him big psychedelic eyes, a muzzle worthy of the Silence of the Lambs, or a sombrero.

But now we congratulate ourselves after five or six hours of sagging. At the turn of missions in magnificent environments worthy of the greatest fantasy saga, after side missions that are sometimes surprising and disturbing discoveries about the wizarding world, we no longer see the passage of time. Combat mechanics are difficult, requiring skill to correctly combine spells cast while dodging enemy fire and protecting yourself with a bubble of blue energy. And almost always a magical trail or points on the map lead us to the next destination.

And when you’re not playing Quidditch, you can fly across multiple areas on a broomstick, a real treat. Yes, there are too many side missions and some take forever to complete. You cannot enter all rooms or complete certain missions until you acquire the necessary skills, which often makes the task difficult.

We are obviously dealing with a top-class AAA here, where the developers have multiplied the finds for the game mechanics, the inspiration for the scenario is less exciting, and the disappearance of the so lovable characters from the Harry Potter saga is difficult to follow to fill. But there are undoubtedly a good dozen hours of fun in The Legacy of Hogwarts.

According to the hospital’s chief physician, the victims had serious injuries and four of them required surgery.

The attacker, identified as Anthony Dwayne McRae, opened fire at an MSU building overnight, said Chris Rozman, deputy commander of campus police. After the first shooting, he went to another building, where he hit other people.

Shortly after midnight (local time), police confirmed that the shooter killed himself after fleeing campus. A gun was confiscated by police, who are still investigating the motive for the killing.

A student told CNN that the gunman fired three to four shots into the classroom before leaving. Some students smashed a window and helped others escape.

“It was really a nightmare what we experienced tonight. We are relieved that there is no longer an active threat on campus,” Rozman said.

A search warrant was issued at a home linked to the shooter, but police were unable to confirm if it was his home.

School and university shootings have become a common occurrence and part of a broader wave of violence in the United States, where gun proliferation has skyrocketed in recent years.

Benigni in Sanremo quotA monster but what does it have

Benigni in Sanremo? "A monster, but what does it have to do with it?": sensational who sinks it

NO, Roberto Benigni in Sanremo 2023 not everyone liked it. The monologue on the Constitution on the opening night of the Festival Sergio Mattarellastill sparks debate and controversy. And it’s not just the politicians who take sides, but also “unsuspicious” such DJ Ringowho lashes out in a lengthy interview with mowmag.com commenting on every single aspect of the Ariston event that ended with last weekend’s victory Marco Mengoni.

And as I said, the opinions on Benigni’s monologue and the failure against Amadeus, the artistic director, make a lot of noise, especially in Ringo’s interview. In fact, Dj Ringo says: “It’s the Italian music festival, if you shuffle the cards and talk about something else, it’s not good. And also applies to politics. Benigni is a monster, but what does the constitutional monologue in Sanremo have to do with it? I personally didn’t get it. one can say, right? I don’t insult him.”

So he adds: “As artistic director, I struggled to understand why 40 minutes passed before the first song came on stage. Amadeus has to do the numbers and he does themand I congratulate him for finding the key, but it is him compelled to make these excuses. Since I don’t think you get these ratings with Italian music, you have to make up these gimmicks and I apologize if I use that term to refer to Benigni, who is a genius.” A scathing, pointed opinion. An opinion shared by Ringo, which, as mentioned, concerns more than Benigni Amadeus, the conductor and artistic director, who, despite the undeniable successes in terms of ratings, is increasingly being discussed.
