The producers of La Voix had a surprise in store for us on Sunday night when a singer well known to Quebec audiences appeared in front of the buses for a memorable performance. It was none other than Julie St-Pierre who took the stage at the start of Sunday night’s show.
21 years after she enchanted Quebec audiences at Mixmania, here she is trying her luck again at La Voix. The 37-year-old dazzled the coaches with a rendition that combined the sensitivity and power of Alanis Morissette’s great song You Oughta Know.
Marjo turned first, followed by Marc Dupré and Mario Pelchat. Corneille was the only one of the four coaches who didn’t push his red button.
And with such a feat, we can expect her to go very far in adventure in Marc Dupré’s team!
The one who has carved a special place for herself in the hearts of the Québec public in recent years, particularly as a radio host, seemed moved and so happy at the end of her performance.
But why do you decide to perform at La Voix today? The key contributor answers this question from Charles Lafortune.
“The main reason is very simple: I just want to sing. And I love singing on TV. That annoys me the most and I can’t explain it. I think it’s because that’s how Mixmania started 20 years ago. It allows me to be free to sing. »
The secretive girl hadn’t even told her mother that she was going to La Voix, and Mario Pelchat decided to take Julie St-Pierre’s phone and call her to tell her that her daughter had managed to shoot three carriages , and that now she had to choose which team she wants to play on.

And after a consultation in which Julie St-Pierre listed what each of the three eligible coaches could bring her, she delighted in Marc Dupré by announcing she would be singing on their team.

As with Suzie Villeneuve three years ago, the presence of Julie St-Pierre reignites the debate over whether a program like La Voix should be accessible to artists who are already well-known, or whether it should instead introduce us to new voices.
