Former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested on Saturday after allegedly punching and punching his daughter in the jaw multiple times.

The incident happened just hours after Stoudemire, 40, received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami.

According to sports reporter Andy Slater, the basketball players told law enforcement that his daughter “received a hefty caning from him for being disrespectful and a liar.”

He claimed she “gave attitude.”

Police say they saw bloodstains at the scene, including on the girl’s sweater and sweatpants.

Stoudemire’s bail was set at $1,500.

Stoudemire, who shares four children with ex-wife Alexis Welch, was arrested at his Brickell apartment in Miami.

It is unclear whether the victim was his 17-year-old or his 14-year-old daughter. However, the police report says the child told police her 1.90 meter tall father hit her on the jaw and hit her so hard that blood shed.

Stoudemire spent most of his NBA career as a forward with the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks before ending it with the Miami Heat in 2016.

The arrest report states: “I observed bloodstains on the victim’s sweater and sweatpants.”

“The victim’s mother showed me the photo she received of her daughter of the victim crying and blood running down her face.”

Alexis Welch, after receiving a picture of her injured child, told police she had come to get her and her two sons. She said Stoudemire instructed her to pick up her daughter because she was “disrespectful”.

The daughter told authorities her grandmother called her around 8pm on Saturday night and she replied, “What?”

Her father “then stormed into her room and asked her why she behaved.”

The daughter subsequently denied striking a note with her grandmother, after which she said her father replied, “You’re talking back again” and punched her on the right side of her jaw.

25 years ago on Monday, the blockbuster “Titanic” premiered in the United States, kicking off a historic run that would go on to gross a record $1.85 billion worldwide and win 11 Oscars.

But 54 years earlier, in 1943, another film called Titanic was released. He made history in other ways—spreading Nazi propaganda, costing the director his life, and using a ship to film that itself sank, killing far more people than the actual Titanic disaster.

The story of the RMS Titanic has been told many times on screen, from Roy Ward Baker’s relatively accurate A Night to Remember (1958), made with input from surviving Titanic passengers and crew, to the animated octopus exploits of The Legend”. of the Titanic (1999) and the horror film Titanic 666 (2022).

The 1943 Titanic, built by the Nazis during the height of World War II to demonstrate the superior morale and cinematic prowess of the Germans, was actually the country’s third version against the disaster, following Night and Ice. But it seems the Nazis were just as money-minded, as documented by Robert P. Watson in his 2016 book The Nazi Titanic: The Incredible Untold Story of a Doomed Ship in World War II. With a budget of 4 million Reichsmarks – the equivalent of around 180 million dollars today – the German “Titanic” was one of the most expensive films of the 20th century, but this is not reflected in the results on the screen. The film took significant liberties with truth, notably by including a fictional German first officer, the heroic Petersen, played by Hans Nielsen. During the sinking, he and his German ex-mate Sigrid Olinsky (played by Sybille Schmitz) are the only passengers caught, with Olinsky calmly repelling English cads and Petersen rescuing several children, including a girl left to drown by her money-mad parents, who fled with suitcases full of cash.

He also feared that a film about a doomed ship run by incompetents might send the wrong message about the German war effort struggling in 1943.
