Queen Letizia opted for smart casual for the outing, in a striped black and white tee and black tailored trousers. She completed her look with black leather shoes.

The Queen of Spain, 50, wore her brunette locks loose for the occasion and kept her makeup natural as she greeted locals and spoke to children in traditional attire.

Her eldest daughter Princess Leonor looked just as stylish as her mother in a light pink jumper and cream cargo pants. She tied her blonde hair back in a ponytail.

Leonor has been studying at UWC Atlantic College in Wales since September 2021 but returned to Spain for half the semester.

Leonor, who has started her second year at UWC Atlantic College at St Donat’s Castle in Wales, will train with all three branches of the Spanish military from September 2023.

Felipe and Letizia’s daughter will follow in her father’s footsteps and train in the Army, Navy and Spanish Air Force before continuing the rest of her university studies.

Last month, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that Leonor’s military training would culminate with a stint aboard the Juan Sebastián de Elcano, a Spanish Navy training ship.

It was also announced that the young princess would study law at university after completing her education in the military.

Her choice of university has not yet been announced, but her educational path is very similar to that of her father, King Felipe VI.

After graduating from Lakefield College in Canada, Felipe returned to Spain and attended the General Military Academy of Zaragozo and then studied at the Naval Military School in Marín.

He completed his training with a stay at the General Air Academy in San Javier.

He completed his military training in 1987 at the age of 18 with a stay on the ship Juan Sebastián Elcano and then studied law at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

South Korea begins investigation into deadly Halloween crush

South Korea begins investigation into deadly Halloween crush

  • Death toll rises to 154, 149 injured
  • The government promises a thorough investigation
  • Local residents and officials express their condolences at memorial sites
  • The disaster is the worst in South Korea since the Sewol ferry sank in 2014

SEOUL, Oct 31 (Portal) – South Korean investigators on Monday combed through footage from more than 50 government and private security cameras and social media looking for answers on how a wave of Halloween partygoers were trapped in narrow alleys are, was killed so many.

As the country entered a week of mourning, the death toll rose to 154. Another 149 people were injured, 33 of them in serious condition. At least 26 citizens from 14 countries were among the dead.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has called for a thorough investigation, and authorities said they are focused on reconstructing the history of the surge and whether someone may have been responsible for initiating the crowding.

“We are analyzing the surveillance video to find out the exact cause of the accident,” senior police investigator Nam Gu-jun told reporters.

“We will continue to question other witnesses, including employees at nearby stores,” he said.

Tens of thousands of revelers – many in their teens and 20s and dressed in costumes – had gathered in narrow streets and alleys of the popular Itaewon district on Saturday for the first virtually full-blown Halloween celebrations in three years.

Chaos erupted as people poured into a particularly narrow and sloping alleyway, even though it was already full, witnesses said.

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, who leads a task force team looking into the accident, said identification of the victims is almost complete and preparations for the funeral could move forward, and pledged support for the bereaved.

TEMPORARY ALTAR

People placed white chrysanthemums, drinks and candles on a small makeshift altar in front of an exit of Itaewon subway station on Monday.

Jung Si-hoon, a retiree, placed an old wooden cross on the altar and said nothing could be done to bring back all the young people who had died.

“These poor people, all the same age as my grandchildren… What more can we say? We should pray for them and wish them rest in peace,” he said.

On Monday afternoon, dozens of crime scene investigators and forensics officers descended on the garbage-strewn lanes, which were eerily quiet as many shops and cafes were closed.

An agent from the National Forensic Service team, dressed in white coveralls and a black mourning ribbon across his chest, operated a Leica 3D scanner, he said, “to capture the scene.”

Yoon paid his respects to the victims at a memorial altar near Seoul City Hall on Monday, a day after visiting the swarm scene and declaring Itaewon a disaster area.

He also met with Han and other officials involved with the accident, calling for a thorough investigation, support for victims and their families, and safety measures at unorganized large gatherings.

Yoon said he felt “indescribable sadness and responsibility as the president who is responsible for people’s lives and safety,” and it was so tragic that many young people in particular lost their lives, his deputy spokesman said.

“The most important thing is to thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident and to disclose the results transparently,” Yoon was quoted as saying at the meeting.

“There is a need to develop a safety management system to prevent accidents in crowds that can be applied to voluntary group events without an organizer like this.”

Schools, kindergartens and businesses across the country canceled planned Halloween events. K-pop concerts and government meetings have also been canceled.

The rush came as Itaewon was just beginning to thrive again after more than two years of COVID-19 restrictions. The disaster is the country’s deadliest since a ferry sank in 2014, which killed 304 people, mostly high school students.

Han said there have been incidents of people spreading hate speech by blaming victims, as well as incidents of spreading false information and troubling scenes of the crush being posted online. A National Police Agency official said they were investigating six related cases.

Witcher fans are convinced they know the real reason Henry Cavill left the Netflix series

When the internet first saw DCU Superman star Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher, it howled in collective laughter at the horrid wig. Four years later, fans are losing their minds that Hollywood’s premier Himbo won’t be reprising the role after Season 3 wraps up. One obvious explanation for this is that Cavill is committed to directing a new Superman movie, but fans believe the real reason Cavill is leaving is because he’s tired of fighting Netflix to make The Keeping Witcher true to its literary source material.

The surprise news of Cavill’s imminent departure came in a statement from Netflix yesterday, which also announced that Hunger Games’ Liam Hemsworth would take on the role in season four. “As with the greatest characters in literature, I pass the torch with awe at the time I’ve spent impersonating Geralt and with enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most intriguing and nuanced man,” Cavill was quoted as saying. “Liam good sir there is such wonderful depth to this character, have fun diving in and see what you can find.”

While many were disappointed that The Man From UNCLE wouldn’t be caught snarling “Roach” at horses in future seasons, Witcher fans took the news particularly badly. Subreddits for the books, games, and Netflix series exploded with disbelief, frustration, and memes while conspiracy theories arose passed around on Twitter that Cavill was more or less forced to come out because of creative differences with a production that has at times taken liberal liberties with the original novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Certain sections of the Witcher fandom have always had a toxic relationship with the show, raging over certain cast decisions and plot deviations, and Cavill’s departure is now seen as an endorsement of every criticism they’ve ever had.

To support their theories, fans point to a Trail of breadcrumbs from previous interview quotes von Cavill on his desire to keep Netflix’s Geralt as he was originally penned in the pages of fantasy magazine Fantastyka in 1986. Less than a year ago, the actor said he told the Hollywood Reporter he was “absolutely committed” to the series’ Seven Season Plan “as long as we can keep telling great stories that honor us.” [author Andrzej] Sapkowski’s work.”

Instant facelift
Think of the Foreo Bear as an exercise for your face that engages the muscles for radiant and toned results with lasting results.

During the media tour surrounding the release of Season 2 last year, Cavill repeatedly spoke about campaigns to bring more three-dimensionality to Geralt, noting that he’s not only a brutal monster slayer but also wise, thoughtful, and an “amateur philosopher.” “This season, I really wanted to make sure that we portrayed the book’s Geralt more accurately and that we got to see him speak more,” he told Total Film at the time. “I fought really, really hard for that.”

Then there were showrunner Lauren Hissrich’s comments on Cavill’s preparation for season two. “A lot of the notes he sent me were about Geralt’s dialogues – could he say more at first,” she told . “Everyone came out of season one laughing and loving Geralt’s outbursts. But Henry said that when you read the books you spend a lot of time in Geralt’s head. How can we get that on the site?” What about Cavill’s aspirations for the future of the series? “I’m a big fan of the books and remain loyal to them, and it’s about making sure the story happens without too many distractions or side issues to muddy the waters,” he said during a Netflix Geeked talk last year. Adding fuel to the fire was a recent interview with Beau DeMayo, a former producer of The Witcher who now runs X-Men ’97 on Disney+, in which he said some writers “actively disliked” the source material and even ” mocked”.

Some fans took away from these soundbytes that while Hissrich was focused on making the show how she wanted it, Cavill was the only one interested in keeping it based on the original version of the characters. This ties in with lengthy Reddit threads like this one, where fans have all described how season two differed from the books, amid fears that season three, which doesn’t air until summer 2023, could include even bigger departures .

While the theory is compelling when it breaks down into a few viral tweets, the show’s place within the larger fandom has always been more complicated. Hissrich was temporarily ousted from Twitter ahead of the first season’s release when racist fans asked Netflix to let only a white woman play the lead role of Ciri, Geralt’s adopted daughter. Then there were those on the fringes of fandom with no knowledge or interest in the Grimdark fantasy series until Netflix spent tens of millions to bring it to life. “Book purists hurt the experience for new fans,” one user wrote on the show’s subreddit last year. Then there are fans of CD Projekt Red’s Witcher video game trilogy, which has taken great liberties with storytelling and has effectively created its own parallel lore.

Whether Cavill was a purist on set is almost beside the point. Clearly, his role in season two did little to prevent some of the narrative departures that fans had the most trouble with. But he was clearly the glue that held the show’s disparate fandoms together. The fact that he enjoys PC gaming and painting Warhammer miniatures in his free time, and was obviously a huge fan of Sapkowski’s books, earned him enormous respect from even the most die-hard Witcher fans. Normies and newcomers loved him too, not because he’s a stickler when it comes to the lore, but because he’s a charismatic presence who, in the end, managed to turn tenderness, recklessness and a morbid wit into something deeper than his Halloween Unite costume initially suggested. “I think the glue that held it all together was really Henry Cavill as Geralt,” said Harper Jay, former senior critic of Kotaku, during a 2018 VG chat about the first season.

With that glue gone, The Witcher season 4 has its work to do as the circumstances surrounding Cavill’s departure haunt him at every turn. Whether or not Hemsworth is up to the task, the news comes at least with season three already wrapped. Fans get one last chance to return to this world with Cavill as their anchor. I’m sure everything will go well and not fuel any more conspiratorial speculation about creative differences.

College football rankings: Tennessee jumps Georgia in CBS Sports 131 ahead of crucial SEC East showdown

Graphic-131ut9.png

While the traditional polls haven’t made many changes at the top of the updated college football rankings, our experts at CBS Sports and 247Sports have made another change to the top 3 of the CBS Sports 131. After an impressive 44-6 win over Kentucky in Week 9, Tennessee has relegated Georgia to second place behind top-ranked Ohio State.

The order of No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Georgia, and No. 3 Tennessee remained in place after last week, in what was an uncharacteristic lack of adjustment after the top three in the first eight CBS Sports 131 had seven different versions in the 2022 season. Now, two weeks after Tennessee moved up to 3rd place after beating Alabama, Tennessee is once again ahead of an SEC opponent.

That shake at the top underscores the excitement and anticipation for Georgia and Tennessee’s meeting this Saturday on the SEC for the CBS Game of the Week. The Vols may have skipped the Bulldogs in our rankings and could even be ranked higher when the college football playoff selection committee releases its first rankings Tuesday, but the celebration of those accomplishments will only be temporary as Georgia defends its home field and foothold can on the SEC East with a win on Saturday.

Further down the rankings, both Illinois, now No. 12, and Kansas State, now No. 15, jumped five spots after wins in Week 9, while Oklahoma State and Wake Forest fell to the fringes of the top 20 after losses. For more information on the biggest weekly changes in the CBS Sports 131, see the Mover’s Report under the top 25 chart.

Biggest Mover

  • No. 34 Notre-Dame (+15): The Fighting Irish have found success – and even an identity – by riding ground play and strong defense. After an away win over Syracuse, Notre Dame now sits 5-3 and two wins against teams our voters place in the top 25. It also has losses against Stanford and Marshall, so there’s a cap on how high Notre Dame will go, but this team is definitely moving in the right direction.
  • No. 26 UCF (+13): We saw UCF take a big drop in the rankings after losing at ECU last week, but a win over Cincinnati put the Knights back exactly where they were before that loss: knocking on the top 25 door.
  • No. 43 Louisville (+10): With the loss of Wake Forest, Louisville finally has a quality win that has voters urging them up after the Cardinals spent much of the early weeks falling in the rankings. With a reasonable future schedule, it’s possible Louisville could end the year closer to the top-30 range that matched preseason expectations.
  • #19 State of Oklahoma (-10): The Cowboys are dealing with plenty of injury woes and maybe even a bruised ego after losing 48-0 at Kansas State, one of the worst losses for the program in recent years. Oklahoma State isn’t out of the Big 12 race just yet, but it needs to get healthy and rack up wins again to contend for either spot in the conference championship game.
  • No. 33 Kentucky (-10): Offensive problems prevented Kentucky from matching Tennessee in Knoxville as star quarterback Will Levis had one of his worst performances of the season with three interceptions.
  • #31 Cincinnati (-12): A wild finish ended in a disappointing away loss at UCF, giving coach Luke Fickell and the Bearcats a 19-game winning streak in the American Athletic Conference game.
  • No. 46 South Carolina (-20): It’s a dramatic drop for a team that spent two weeks climbing the rankings but suffered a stunning defeat on Saturday. Our Missouri-based voters had that in mind as they fielded the Gamecocks against other three-losting teams.

The “spectacular” actions of environmental activists who want to warn about global warming are increasing in Europe.

Members of environmental group Just Stop Oil sprayed orange paint on the facades of the Home Office, MI5 (Domestic Intelligence Service), the Bank of England and the headquarters of media group News Corp in London on Monday. “These buildings were chosen because they represent the pillars that uphold and sustain the power of the fossil fuel economy, government, security, finance and the media,” Just Stop Oil said in a statement. A total of six people were arrested, police said.

The day before, two environmental activists had also become active in Berlin. They glued to a pole supporting the skeleton of a dinosaur on display at Berlin’s Natural History Museum on Sunday to protest the federal government’s climate policy. It is the latest such action by climate activists at a museum, after famous artworks were targeted in several cities across Europe.

In Berlin, two women in orange vests taped to one of the metal posts that held the skeleton of a dinosaur more than 60 million years old. They carried a banner that read, “What if the government doesn’t have the situation under control?”

One of the women, Caris Connell, said she feared “wildfires, water shortages, famine and wars”. “Dinosaurs became extinct because they could not withstand massive climate changes. It threatens us too,” added the 34-year-old.

Another activist, Solvig Schinkoethe, said that as a mother of four, she was afraid of the consequences of climate change. “Peaceful resistance is the path we have chosen to protect our children from the deadly ignorance of governments,” said the 42-year-old.

The museum said the incident was cleared up by police action within an hour. Property damage had occurred and criminal charges had been filed, he said in a statement.

The two activists are part of the Last Generation group, which earlier this month spilled mashed potatoes on the glass protecting Claude Monet’s Les Meules canvas at the Museum Barberini in Potsdam, Germany.

Environmental activists also taped the glass protecting Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring at a museum in the Netherlands, and others threw soup at the glass protecting Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers at the National Gallery in London.
