Air New Zealand connects Auckland and New York for first time ever

(CNN) – After 16 hours in the sky, Air New Zealand’s first-ever direct flight to New York City landed at JFK Airport on Sept. 17.

Flight NZ2 was first announced in March and has been a key cornerstone of the airline’s post-pandemic recovery. Its companion flight NZ1 flies the opposite route from JFK to Auckland in approximately 17.5 hours.

“As one of the greatest cities in the world, Air New Zealand is proud to add the Big Apple to its list of 29 international destinations,” Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran said in a statement, adding that the flight will serve as its two Favorite cities in Switzerland connect the world.

New Zealand reopened to international tourists on July 31, 2022.

The airline’s desire to secure a seat at JFK has never been a secret.

When the flights were announced in early 2022, Foran said: “Traditionally, flight numbers 1 and 2 are used for an airline’s flagship route. And that will be New York – our flagship route.”

In addition to New York, Air New Zealand flies to five other destinations in the United States, including San Francisco and Honolulu.

With New York being the airline’s first (and currently only) direct East Coast service, passengers from New Zealand will find it easier to connect to North American and European hubs.

Everything on board has been designed to feel special for the inaugural voyage.

Meals on board consisted of New Zealand meats, wine and produce, including paua saucisson (abalone sausage), which made its flight debut.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Foran was on board himself and helped serve meals to customers in the Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Passengers reportedly clapped as the 787-9 Dreamliner touched down.

A number of New Zealand figures were on board the flight, including Stuart Nash, New Zealand’s tourism minister, and former Prime Minister Helen Clark. Current Prime Minister Jacinda Arden had reportedly planned to join, but had to travel to London for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral instead.

However, there was an unexpected crease over the weekend.

Some passengers on the NZ1 route from New York to Auckland found upon landing that their luggage had not made the journey.

“Unfortunately, due to additional fuel requirements due to adverse weather, some customer bags could not be loaded in New York and we are getting them to New Zealand as soon as possible,” Air New Zealand COO Alex Marren told CNN Travel.

“We are in touch with customers to update them and reunite them with their bags. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.”

The airline assures CNN that this was a one-off issue, adding, “We have processes in place to ensure our customers get to their destinations safely and are trying to reduce disruption as much as possible during an extreme weather event.”

Air New Zealand faces stiff competition in the battle for the world’s longest passenger flight.

Currently, the two longest flights in the world are both operated by Singapore Airlines – one between Singapore and New York’s JFK and one between Singapore and Newark International Airport. The former reaches a staggering 9,534 miles and spends around 18 hours in the air. Australia’s Qantas is one of ANZ’s main competitors and the airline refuses to be left out of the mix when it comes to long flights. It will start a long-haul flight from Melbourne to Dallas in December. Earlier this year, Qantas took a major step toward launching Project Sunrise, its long-held goal of establishing direct flights between Australia and the cities of New York and London.

The airline has ordered 12 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft and hopes the ultra-long-haul routes will be operational in 2025. These flights will surpass the 19-hour mark, making them the longest non-stop flights in the world.

In the United States, Donald Trump stormed off to applause from his supporters

They drive for hours, sleep in parking lots, share sandwiches and rural souvenirs. In their friendship, seniority matters less than attendance. Among the Front Row Joes, we stand out for the number of Donald Trump meetings we’ve attended. In Youngstown, Ohio, a mecca of the steel industry, Sharon Anderson was on her 27th, Saturday, September 17th. The 66-year-old mother of five owns a farm in southeast Tennessee. She often leaves her husband with the day-to-day business to support the former president, “within a ten-hour drive”. It’s time to mobilize: the midterm elections are upon us. “The threat is clear, Communism is at the door and the door is knocking,” she said of the Democrats.

At his side, Mike Boatman, 54, is surprised that so much enthusiasm surprises us. He happened to be at a meeting place a week before the meeting to secure a spot in front of the grandstand. He followed 43. “It’s a small sacrifice compared to what this man has done for the country for four years, to all the false allegations against him. Sharon agrees. “You can’t prove anything. Otherwise he would have already been fired. And the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, the role of Donald Trump’s main instigator? On that fatal day, both were there, near the federal building, without entering it. “The crowd was peaceful,” they affirm, despite the videos, about the work of the parliamentary committee of inquiry. “It was infiltrated,” claims the grandmother. “If Trump had asked us to take the Capitol, there would have been no Capitol,” adds Mike Boatman, who lives in Indiana and works on construction sites there.

Both are among the unconditional supporters of the former president. Externally, nothing has changed within the MAGA movement (Make America Great Again, Donald Trump’s slogan) in two years. Same subjects, same sources. The cult of personality surrounding the leader draws on the anti-system resentments of these MAGA folk who embrace everything: the “radical left”, teachers, mainstream media and tech giants.

“We got lost in their imagination”

The thousands of people who attended on Saturday make it clear: your core is harder than ever. But how big is the fruit around? While Joe Biden’s popularity rating has soared from an all-time low this summer, Donald Trump’s is raising questions. His hold on the Republican base remains strong, but his irrevocable conspiratorial tendencies and legal troubles may limit his ability to seduce more moderate voters. The speech Trump delivered Saturday night is a testament to this sectarian frenzy. Fantasies, conspiratorial allusions, the designation of internal enemies operate in a closed circuit on planet MAGA, where the law of gravity takes on a different meaning. “A kind of semi-fascism,” said Joe Biden recently.

Joe Biden: Pandemic is over

US President Joe Biden has declared an end to the corona pandemic. “The pandemic is over, but we still have a problem with Covid,” Biden said in a TV interview broadcast Sunday night (local time).

“As you can see, no one is wearing a mask here. Everyone seems to be in good shape so I think the situation is changing and I think this is a perfect example of that,” the US president continued.

The interview was taped on Thursday, including when Biden visited the Detroit, Michigan auto show. The US President tested positive for Corona in July and was treated with the Covid Paxlovid drug. In late August, his wife Jill contracted the virus and was also treated with the drug.

USA: About 390 corona deaths every day

In the US, about 390 people die every day in an average of seven days as a result of Covid 19 disease. US authorities have recently approved two corona vaccines adapted to the omicron variant. The two preparations are bivalent mRNA vaccines from the companies Biontech/Pfizer and Moderna.

Alessandra Amoroso, Responding to the Rumors About Relationship with Aiello

We’ve been talking about them for a few hours alleged relationship between Alessandra Amoroso and Aiello. In fact, rumors are circulating that see the two singers as protagonists. It all started with some videos that went viral on social media. In these it appears Aiello at the concert in San Siro by alexandra. And not only. Some videos of her at a recent concert by the Calabrian artist are also online.

The rumors were then further fueled by photos taken together over the past summer. A few minutes ago, however, the former student of Amici di Maria De Filippi, who ironically wanted to categorically deny the love story, intervened Aiello. Salento wrote on Twitter:

And after the autograph on the pillow refused, even the engagement! Aiellobut did you know anything about it?

there Loving it has been for the past few months at the center of the controversy for videos shot on the Internet in which she refuses to sign autographs for her fans. The insult-ridden Apulian then explained the reason for the gesture, but criticism was not lacking.

This time however alexandra has returned to be spoken to for the alleged engagement Aiello. However, engagement via social media is immediately denied by the person directly affected.

It took as long as it had to take says

“It took as long as it had to take,” says Alinne Prado of the end of her program

Aline Prado is there Morning command from ‘RedeTV!’, ‘Good morning you’, whose end is already terminated. The variety show that airs Monday through Friday and premiered in May, will only remain on the station’s network until the end of this month. The attraction will be replaced by another project, presented by Ronnie Von, which has recently been shelved.

in the a conversation with the column, Alinne Prado spoke about the end of the show, revealed what she will miss most and explained that the attraction “lasted as long as it had to last”. In addition, the journalist praised the changes and important themes she was able to bring to Bom Dia Você and took the opportunity to tell what her next ones are.

Read the full interview:

The “Good morning you” comes to an end, but you seem to have identified yourself very much. What do you highlight most about the program? I realized a lot! “Bom Dia Você” was more than a variety show. When I was there alone, I turned it into a program about love, inclusion and acceptance. I took it easy and full of optimism.

With this project, did you have the feeling of being accepted by the public? And the team?
The audience gave a nice response. I felt it in the messages I received during the live, on social media, on the street and most importantly in the audience. We picked up the Dash program daily and kept increasing the ratings. The team stepped in, hugged me and protected me. There I formed a “dream team” and mastered numerous challenges.

What will you miss the most? This exchange with the public, the daily contact with my makeup artist Kaky, with my beloved team… But it took as long as it had to take there. And my verb will resonate even more forcefully elsewhere.

Is there one episode that has impressed you the most so far? Look, I think we’ve made a strategic revolution there. And I have to point out that ‘Rede TV!’ never censored me. We took several black specialists without touching on the fact that they are black. They were specialists like dermatologists, scientists, influencers, teachers and showed that it is normal for us to occupy these spaces. We talk about medicinal cannabis, demystifying several taboos on the subject. We took the first gay couple to produce twins with the same genetic material… All this at breakfast time, with ease, naturalness and empathy.

What are Alinne Prado’s next steps? First of all, I promised my son that I would spend two weeks with him. I spent almost two years on an air shuttle, only staying with him on weekends. My son was amazing to understand that mom was making a revolution.

You talk a lot about representation and social agendas. How important is that not only in your life but also in your work as a journalist? I had a great friend, a twotime Emmy Awardwinning screenwriter named Bruno Lima Penido. On the eve of his death two years ago he called me and said that I left a favela and became a great journalist because I was on a mission to be a social translator. And I keep doing that. Through loving, Afroaffective language, I introduce Brazil to another Brazil, often hurt and made invisible. I show humanity and represent other points of view through respect and inclusion. In a simple way, accessible language and welcoming look.

Are you already talking about this with your child? My son is a beautiful being full of light. At your 5th birthday party, I wanted to do a birthday party. [personagem] “Black Panther” and he said, “No mom, I want a recycling party. Today, at the age of eight, he reads the world with a look that makes me proud and convinces me that I’m on the right track.

You recently changed your appearance. Does this change also mark this new postprogram phase? Yes indeed. The answer is that, like the fox, I am in the cunning phase. A phase that embodies the archetype of the fox, which gives a physical and mental responsiveness that allows you to escape the most difficult situations. This archetype makes you gentler and more lovable like the fox, but also doesn’t hesitate to be smart when the situation calls for it.

The Queen: Prince George, nine, and his seven-year-old sister will appear at the funeral

George and Charlotte will walk behind the coffin: The nine-year-old prince and his seven-year-old sister will appear at the Queen’s funeral after William and Kate thought “long and hard” about attending

Prince George and Princess Charlotte will make a surprise appearance at their great-grandmother’s funeral today, walking behind her coffin into Westminster Abbey.

The Chron understands the Prince and Princess of Wales have thought “long and hard” about joining their two eldest children, aged nine and seven.

But after George and Charlotte attended their great-grandfather’s memorial service in March, William and Kate decided they could handle the solemnity of the occasion. Louis, the youngest of the couple, is only four years old and will not be there.

“Obviously, as parents, they have thought long and hard about whether their children should accompany them,” a source said. “Of course little Louis is too young, but they think George and Charlotte are up to it.”

It is understood the children will also be in congregation for the committal service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor this afternoon. It should be decided whether they feel ready to take part in the procession there as well.

George and Charlotte will drive to the Abbey in the car with Kate and Camilla before joining the procession on foot as they enter.

Before today’s state funeral service at 11 a.m., a bell will toll 96 times, reflecting the years of Queen Elizabeth’s life. The service, Buckingham Palace said last night, will pay tribute to the Queen’s distinguished reign and lifelong service as Head of State, Nation and Commonwealth.

It is administered by The Very Reverend Dr. David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster, conducted with hymns such as The Lord’s My Shepherd and Love Divine. Lessons include 1 Corinthians 15 20-26, 53-end and John 14 1-9a, all aspects personally selected by the Queen.

A specially commissioned choral piece, Like As The Hart, composed by Judith Weir, the Mistress of King’s Music, will be sung by the Westminster Abbey Choir. The choir will also sing a short hymn, O Taste And See, composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams for the Queen’s coronation in 1953.

The Archbishop of Canterbury will give a reading while Prime Minister Liz Truss will read the second lesson, with prayers from leading clergy including the Bishop of London and the Archbishop of York.

Tears are sure to flow at The Last Post and Reveille, as well as the first major public performance of the national anthem.

A performance of “Sleep, Dearie, Sleep” performed by the Queen’s bagpiper will be of great importance to her family.

After the service, the bells of Westminster Abbey are rung completely muted, as is the tradition after the sovereign’s funeral. The coffin will then continue on its final journey through London and out to Windsor. The dedication service at St George’s Chapel at 4pm will be smaller and much more personal.

And in the absence of cameras, the royal family will gather at 7:30 p.m. for a private funeral.

Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II LIVE The Queen of Englands

Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II LIVE: The Queen of England’s funeral is this Monday midday

6:45 am: Westminster Abbey in the life of Queen Elizabeth II

Before the Queen’s funeral, Westminster Abbey was the scene of great moments in her life. A review of some important dates in the history of the ruler in this place:

1937 : King George VI, father of Elizabeth II, will be crowned on May 12, five months after his brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated Princess in a handwritten message.

1947 : Elizabeth says yes to Philip on November 20th. The latter renounces his titles of Greece and Denmark and becomes Duke of Edinburgh.

1953 : Elizabeth II will be crowned on June 2nd. Notably, it is the first televised Coronation broadcast, in front of 27 million Britons out of a population of 36 million. The ceremony lasted nearly three hours, in the presence of 8,251 guests gathered in grandstands, and 129 nations and territories were officially represented. In 2018, she described the carriage ride as “terrible” due to her discomfort.

1973 : On November 14, Princess Anne becomes the Queen’s first child and weds an army lieutenant, Mark Philips. Unlike usual, this Olympic gold medalist didn’t claim a title. The couple divorced in 1992.

1986 : After Charles and Diana were married at St Paul’s Cathedral in 1981, Elizabeth II’s second son, Andrew, married Sarah Ferguson on July 23 to much fanfare. Andrew and “Fergie,” who have two daughters (Beatrice and Eugenie), divorced in 1996 but remain close.

1997 : The Queen is blamed for the apparent detachment she shows after the death of Diana. Nearly a million people will gather and about 2.5 billion in front of their TVs to watch the September 6 memorial service. The Queen bowed her head as the procession passed in front of Buckingham Palace. In his eulogy, Diana’s brother Charles Spencer lashed out at the royal family.

2002 : The funeral of Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on April 9 marks the end of an era. At 101, she is the last Empress of India. More than 200,000 people line up in front of his coffin to pay homage to him.

2011 : On April 29, the biggest royal wedding in a generation, that of William and Kate, will be watched by up to two billion viewers worldwide, breathing new life into the British monarchy after years of crisis. The Queen is allowing Prince William to tear up the original guest list to accommodate more of her friends and fewer dignitaries.

2022 : On March 29th, Elizabeth II appeared at the Abbey for the last time, for a religious ceremony in honor of her husband Prince Philip, who had died almost a year earlier at the age of 99.
