911 Lone Star Recap: Season 3, Episode 8 – [Spoiler]Death is explained
Fresh from last week’s striking last turn 9-1-1: Lone Star he put the watch back for an hour oriented to Gwyn which left us with a new assessment of the unfortunate nature of Lisa Edelstein.
At this bitter hour, which began with the devastating 9-1-1 phone call made by a peddler named Liam, who accidentally hit Gwyn with his bicycle, zero hits were made. Liam’s description of the horrifying scene, including the realization that Gwyn died after hitting her head on the street, was incredibly difficult to hear. I know I wasn’t the only one who cried when he started telling baby John how much his mother loved him. (A recap can only take that much!)
“[Showrunner] “Tim Miner always warns me about things he plans in the world of Gwyn, so I knew much earlier,” Edelstein told TVLine about Gwyn’s unexpected death. “Anyway, after I had Enzo’s baby, I had the feeling that my days were numbered! (Just kidding).”
And while Edelstein was ready to play Gwynn’s death on screen (“I Love the Adventure of the Cascades”), she was ultimately glad we didn’t see the whole thing unfold. “After being covered in this sticky horrible fake blood at other jobs, I may be a little relieved,” she said. “Not only is it sticky (thinking about my neck still makes me shrink), but they have to keep moisturizing it with cold spray. So, I change my mind: yes, I’m relieved that I was killed off camera!
Edelstein’s farewell hour told the story of two very different flights: today’s TK and Owen trip to Gwyn’s funeral, which they missed because their plane nearly crashed, and TK and Gwyn’s previous flight to a rehab in California, where she he took his son away after dragging him out of a drug store in New York. Apart from being an important memory of his mother, the retrospective of T.K. also triggered because he nearly stole several vials of fentanyl from his drug bag. If Owen hadn’t caught him on the spot, things would have turned out very differently.
Like the coma fantasies earlier this season, the scenes between TK and Gwyn painted a clear picture of their relationship. She was his guardian for life, someone who was determined to save him, whether he wanted help or not.
“My scenes with the beautiful Ronen [Rubinstein] they’re already emotional, so it’s built into the work, “Edelstein said of filming these scenes together, adding that Minear wanted to use Gwyn’s death as a way to strengthen the story and the connection between Gwyn and TK to really see what he wanted. to him in her absence, which is unfortunately how many people learn to appreciate the people they once loved. “
Speaking of gratitude, Edelstein said, adding: “I was surprised at how emotional my partners were at my fictional death! Sweet people. ”
As for Gwyn’s legacy, Edelstein knows exactly how she wants fans to remember her character: “Like an amazing mother, of course!” She says. “Besides being a super sexy ex-wife who is remarkably young for her age and in amazing shape, who is smarter than any woman they’ve seen and more charming than they thought possible. Yes. That sounds like the perfect way to remember Gwyn.
On the other hand, it is quite possible that this will not be the last thing we will see on Gwyn, given Lone Star’s penchant for dreams.
“I mean, the producers refused to give me the traditional cast of ‘This is a series about Lisa,’ so you never know!” Edelstein said of a possible future. “Fantasy Gwyn gets the best lighting in the show, so I’m good to appear in a few dream series here and there.”
