Militant thugs cosmonaut Omon with Putin’s helmets destroy dissent in Russia after thousands are detained

Fearful Russian thugs from Omon paramilitary groups take to the streets to destroy any opposition to Vladimir Putin‘s invasion of Ukraine.

Nearly 6,000 people have already been detained in anti-war protests across the country, with astronauts wearing helmets in camouflage anti-riot gear regularly dragging protesters.

Protests against the invasion began in Russia on Thursday and have continued every day since, although Omon and police have been moving quickly to quell the rallies.

The Kremlin has tried to downplay the protests, insisting that a much wider proportion of Russians support the attack on Ukraine.

But younger, technology-savvy Russians with access to independent media have expressed opposition to the Kremlin’s invasion, risking imprisonment and even accusations of treason.

In St. Petersburg, where several hundred gathered in the city center, fully armed police grabbed protesters one after another and dragged some into police vans, although the demonstration was peaceful.

In Pushkin Square, a planned protest was stopped by several hundred officers in camouflage uniforms and helmets with visors, located in groups of three and five yards apart in each public space.

Threatening men in civilian clothes but with black cloth face masks stood at the entrances to malls, shops and clubs, ready to repel protesters if they tried to escape.

Small groups of young people, who listened to the calls on social networks for protest, stood around, nervously chatting and smoking.

Each time a group of six or more formed, police raided, demanding documents and handbags and backpacks.

According to the OVD-Info rights group, which monitors political arrests, police detained at least 2,710 Russians in 51 cities for anti-war demonstrations on Sunday, bringing the total number of detainees in nearly four days to nearly 6,000.

Yasha, a 21-year-old theater student, said: “Once you are arrested, you are imprisoned for two days and you get a criminal record.

“For the second time, it’s three months. And they throw out of college or their job. This is really horrible.

An already repressive treason law – which provides for a sentence of up to 15 years in prison – has been updated to include “any action that benefits or assists the enemy”.

The amendment was clearly intended to criminalize anti-war protests with severe punishment.

Sunday’s anti-war protests seemed smaller and more dispersed than those held on the first day of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, when thousands gathered in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

“This is a crime against both Ukraine and Russia. I think it kills both Ukraine and Russia. I am outraged, I have not slept for three nights and I think we must now say very loudly that we do not want to be killed and we do not want Ukraine to be killed, “said Olga Mikheeva, who is protesting in the Siberian city of Irkutsk.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, many people went to makeshift memorials to Boris Nemtsov, a senior Russian oppositionist who was shot dead near the Kremlin on February 27, 2015.

Some brought flowers to honor Nemtsov’s memory, while others also held banners to protest the invasion of Ukraine, only to be detained minutes after they were removed.

Nemtsov, one of Russia’s most charismatic opposition figures, has been a staunch supporter of fighting in eastern Ukraine, where Russian-backed separatists have been fighting Ukrainian forces since 2014 in a protracted conflict that has killed more than 14,000 people.

In recent days, Russian authorities have begun to stifle critical voices.

Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of Russia’s lower house of parliament, said the anti-war stance of “certain cultural figures” was “inappropriate” and “nothing less than betrayal of your own people.”

Access to Twitter and Facebook is limited, and human rights activists fear that such steps will soon be taken against YouTube.

Russia’s state communications and media body, Roskomnadzor, on Sunday asked Google to lift restrictions on YouTube channels run by several Russian state media outlets.

The rights group Network Freedoms noted that Facebook’s refusal to comply with such a request this week led to limited access to the platform.

The website of Current Time, a Russian television channel launched by US-funded Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty that criticizes the Kremlin, became unavailable on Sunday after the channel announced it had received a notification from Roskomnadzor about its blockade.

In addition to street protests, tens of thousands of people in recent days have supported open letters and signed petitions condemning the invasion.

Celebrities and celebrities also spoke out against it. An online petition launched hours after Putin announced the attack garnered more than 930,000 signatures in four days, becoming one of the most widely supported petitions in Russia in recent years.

The Russian government has also announced a Soviet-style ban on all references to “war” or “invasion” in any media – declaring the aggression against Ukraine to be called a “limited military operation.”

At the same time, the Kremlin’s media machine has stepped up in an attempt to convince Russian viewers and listeners that the Kremlin is “liberating” Ukraine from a “fascist” US-backed puppet government.

Dmitry Kiselyov, one of the Kremlin’s most venomous television propagandists, accused German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of “solidarity with today’s genocide”, which Kiselyov, like Putin’s parrot, said was being used against Russian-speakers in Ukraine.

The media has created divisions in Russia, with older and less educated people more likely to rely on state television, while younger generations use the Internet for their news.

Surveys show that the former make up about 70 percent of the population.

“Everything will end quickly as soon as we get these fascists out of Kyiv,” said Marina Gordeeva, 38, a producer on a TV shopping channel.

“The Ukrainian people will thank us.”

Many other Russians remain convinced that the conflict was provoked by the West.

“NATO pushed us into this war,” said Vladimir Butirkin, 61, a retired truck driver.

“We are a peaceful nation. Nobody in Russia wanted that. Ukrainians are our brothers – but sometimes you have to fix your brothers when they come up with stupid ideas.

A 42-year-old black woman with vitiligo reveals that strangers “fixate on her like an animal”

The 42-year-old black woman, who has been slowly turning white for 17 years due to vitiligo, says strangers “fixate” on her as if she were an “animal” – and her own community accuses her of whitening her skin.

  • Yomiko Johnson, a 42-year-old grandmother from Texas, already adores her “unique” skin

A black woman with vitiligo has revealed the brutal ridicule she receives online – including from her own community, which accuses her of “whitening” her skin.

Aomiko Johnson, 42, from Texasnow she adores her “unique” appearance, but this has not always been the case – the grandmother committed suicide when she was first diagnosed with a skin condition, at the age of 25.

And although it is now thriving – with the modeling options offered to a mother of four – Yomiko has revealed that she is still “fixed on her as an animal” by strangers and branded as a “Dalmatian or cow” by online trolls.

Maintaining positivity, the entrepreneur, whose body is 70 percent covered in pigment-free spots, insisted: “People with this condition are the most unique people on this earth. There is no one else who looks like us.

She said: “Over the years, I have learned to love and embrace my skin. But at first it made me feel depressed and suicidal because I lived like a black lady for 25 years and then suddenly my skin color started to change.

“According to my dermatologist, 70 percent of my body is white. There are white parts that I can’t reveal because that would be inappropriate.

“I agreed that one day my skin would be completely white and that’s fine. Other people have a problem with this.

Yomiko first noticed two white pea-sized spots on her body at the age of 25 and feared it could be cancer. She was then diagnosed with vitiligo and told she had no treatment.

The mother recalled how she faced discrimination from people who thought she was “whitening” her skin.

“There’s nothing wrong with being white, but I’m not. Every day I am accused online of whitening my skin and calling names like cow or dalmatian.

“It simply came to our notice then. The black community really didn’t accept me because they think I’m whitening my skin.

“It hurts so much when a comment comes from someone in my community – as a black person, he needs to know how it feels to be discriminated against.

But this is not only a negative reaction, the grandmother also received positive feedback and even received opportunities for modeling.

She added: “My skin condition has slowed down a lot since I first received it. But I have to go through my whole course, so in the end I will be white. There are no drugs to stop him.

WHAT IS VITILIGO?

Canadian fashion model Winnie Harlow is famous for suffering from vitiligo

Canadian fashion model Winnie Harlow is famous for suffering from vitiligo

Vitiligo is one of the most common autoimmune skin diseases and is caused by a lack of melanin, the pigment that gives skin color.

The late singer Michael Jackson has always said he suffers from a rare skin condition called vitiligo, but his claim is shrouded in controversy, as many experts are adamant that he did not suffer.

Canadian fashion model Winnie Harlow is a famous sufferer.

The body’s immune system attacks pigment cells, confusing them with foreign invaders.

This causes painless white patches on exposed areas such as the face and fingers, although they can also appear on the wrists, around the eyes, groin, armpits and inside the mouth.

The disease affects about one in every 200 people and about 50% develop their first symptoms before the age of 20, although it is not clear why.

However, “stressful” events, such as childbirth, hormonal changes or even skin cuts, can cause it – there is a genetic link.

There is no cure, but some treatments can reverse pigment loss if used early enough.

The joys of The Ghan an epic train journey through

The joys of The Ghan, an epic train journey through the amazing landscapes of Australia

Jackie, our conductor, announced, “We’ll be there soon, Darwin. Passengers in the front carriages will arrive at 2.30pm; if you’re at the back of the train, it’s more like three without a quarter.

Ghan, one of the longest trains in the world, hauled 44 wagons across Australia to the Northern Territory. That makes it nearly a mile; and besides being one of the longest, it is also one of the most luxurious.

Pullmans have been with us since the 1840s. The Trans-Siberian Line, the West Highland Line, the Pride of Africa – they all evoke romance, adventure and, for those in first class, impeccable comfort. But from day one, they had their detractors.

An Englishwoman in the early 20th century spoke of “the vulgar corruption that abides on them today.” That’s what Lady Chatterley was talking about on the Orient Express.

Hedonism was not always present. Some coaches had pianos and organs installed (for those who want to enjoy church service), as well as a strange library, sometimes a cowshed. Tsar Nicholas II was so passionate about milk that it was reported that during a state visit to Germany, his train towed two wagons with cows and farm workers.

In today’s Ghan Train there are no cattle, no organ, no library. But luxury and pampering are guaranteed. Hedonism that you have to secure.

“From The Ghan, you’re as likely to see a camel as you are a kangaroo,” Mal wrote

He made the return trip between Adelaide in South Australia and Darwin on top of the Northern Territory – about 1,850 miles – twice a week. One of the largest train journeys in the world takes 54 hours, including a 4-hour stop at Alice Springs. Sometimes the train stops early in the morning (say 5.30 to 6 am) if there is a particularly good sunrise.

Until 1929, the last stage of the journey had to be done on a camel. Not a breath of it now. If you wish, you can stay in your Platinum class cabin, which includes a private bathroom. The bed becomes a comfortable sofa so you can sit and watch Outback; see if you can spot camels. Today, Australia has the largest population of wild dromedaries in the world. From Gan you are as likely to see a camel as a kangaroo.

Gold Service has three cab options: Gold Superior, Gold Twin and Gold Single. It’s not as plush as Platinum, but it’s still comfortable. In the Outback Explorer lounge at the front of the train, the chablis was as cool as I was. This is the perfect place to meet your companions or really see the Outback through its wide windows.

There is bar service and snacks throughout the day, and in the evening, when the sun sets over the distant horizon, a song can sometimes erupt. On my second night, most people tried to join the spontaneous version of Waltzing Matilda. Judith, a South African lady, turned to me and said, “I’m sure I heard that in music once.”

Singing may not be in tune, but the people serving are definitely. They are cheerful, efficient and friendly, in keeping with the casual atmosphere on board.

Dressing is informal during meals – although several people enjoyed dinner. Des from New Zealand was traveling for the first time. He drank his second gin and tonic before dinner. “It has always been my dream to make this trip,” he said. “As funny as it is, I would wear my special St. Patrick’s Day costume.” It is exactly the same as all my other costumes, except that my name and address are painted on the back. There is no need for that here. Someone can just take me to my cabin and push me inside. Of course, the wine and gin flowed freely.

Platinum Club is the exclusive section down the train – cocktails, barista coffee and snacks are part of the deal, and dinner is also served here. The train suffered a long break due to Covid, but services were finally resumed. I was waiting for The Ghan at Keswick Terminal in Adelaide.

Satellites were now gathering on the platform. A gentleman from the nearby train spotting community apparently wanted to tell the details. I can anoracically confirm that Ghan locomotives are Pacific National NR engines. The name “Gan” probably comes from the Afghan camels that once worked in the wilderness.

We finally pulled out. Ghan walks calmly through endless bushes, which at one point become Outback. We passed through agricultural land, prairies with blue bushes and semi-deserts, where the bush vegetation broke through the dry red soil. The landscape was glistening – we passed through some of the hottest parts of Australia. About 40 c (104 f) means it’s nice again.

TRAVEL FACTS

Tickets for The Ghan’s four-day trip from Adelaide to Darwin cost £ 1920 one way, including food and drink (journeybeyondrail.com.au). Qatar Airways (qatarairways.com) London to Adelaide from £ 893 back.

Right after Alice Springs, we started racing at high speed through the rare Simpson Desert. It has an astonishing vastness: 70,000 square miles. This is more than twice the size of Ireland. My mind trembled; but hard gin and tonic seemed to calm me down.

The days pass hypnotically, transcendentally evenly, with time almost stopped. Fans of irony will enjoy this, because with the advent of the railway, time has been imposed on everyone, whether we go somewhere or not. And yet today, the laziest way to travel is by train. And so we headed north.

Darwin is in what Australians call the top end. This is a rural place. When Ghan arrived on his first voyage on the new line, a group of about a hundred Darwinists lined up on the tracks and headed for the passengers. Not as a protest, just for craic.

Ghan is an amazingly attractive way to see the forbidden landscape of Australia and some of its more aggressive climates – wastelands, bushes, deserts, endless plains. But this is Australia from a comfortable chair, with champagne on ice and the sun setting over the distant prairie with blue bushes.

And finally back in action.

A mother became pregnant while she was ALREADY pregnant and gave birth to two daughters five days apart

A mother revealed how she became pregnant while she was already pregnant – she conceived her two daughters five days apart.

Odalis and Antonio Martinez of San Pablo, Californiathey were very happy to learn that they were expecting a baby in November 2020, having been heartbroken by a miscarriage a few months earlier.

But the best was yet to come when the 25-year-old woman discovered during her first scan that she was actually expecting two babies – conceived at different times in the same week.

The incredibly rare phenomenon is known as superfetation and is when a second, new pregnancy occurs during an initial pregnancy – and can occur days or weeks after the first.

The full-time mother said she felt “miraculous” that daughters Lilo and Imelda Martinez-Atoyak would arrive, but admitted that the couple looked so similar that she and Antonio had confused them.

In fact, the duo are so similar that Odalis says he’s telling people they’re twins instead of having to explain the truth.

Odalis said: “I got pregnant while I was pregnant.

“I’m just saying they’re twins, but after reading a lot of articles, I know they’re not technically twins, but it’s just confusing to people, so I just say, ‘Yes, they’re twins.’

“They are not technically identical, but everyone thinks they are. Definitely a lot alike.

“Sometimes my husband and I, more like my husband, will mix them up.

“I don’t usually confuse them anymore just because I’m with them 24/7, so I feel like I can tell them apart quite easily, but a lot of people confuse them.”

Odalis and Antonio, who currently works as a counselor, got married in early 2020 and dreamed of starting their own family.

WHAT IS SUPERFETATION? THE RARE CONDITION THAT MAKES A PREGNANT WOMAN CONCEIVE

Superfetation is a rare occurrence when a woman becomes pregnant with another child while she is already pregnant.

This occurs when the egg is fertilized by sperm and implanted in the womb for the second time only days or weeks after the process first occurred.

It is extremely rare, with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. Doctors have identified superfetas in Britain, Italy and Canada.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy usually block three key processes needed for re-pregnancy:

  • Ovulation: The body stops releasing eggs from the ovaries during the menstrual cycle
  • Fertilization: The body creates a mucous barrier in the cervix that blocks sperm from fertilizing any extra eggs that are released.
  • Implantation: The hormones needed to attach the fertilized egg to the womb are usually not released when the woman is already pregnant.
  • The small chance of these three processes occurring in one man means that almost all reported cases of superfetation were in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF).

During this fertility treatment, the fertilized egg is transferred to the woman’s womb. Superfetation can occur if a woman is already pregnant or becomes pregnant naturally in the days or weeks after treatment.

Superfetation is difficult to diagnose because the presence of two fetuses in the womb is usually considered twins. The main feature of superfetation is that the two fruits grow at different rates.

But there are other more common reasons for two babies to grow at different speeds.

Superfetation may increase the risk of complications in a younger baby, as there is a higher risk of premature birth.

Babies born by superfetation are often considered twins because they are often born on the same day. Officially, however, they are not twins.

Twins are either identical – when an egg divides in two after fertilization.

Meanwhile, non-identical twins appear when two separate eggs are released from the ovary at the same time, fertilized by different sperm and implanted in the womb.

“I really felt very happy and also scared about the miscarriage. It was pretty awful all my pregnancy not knowing if that would be the result again.

“Hoping for the best, but knowing that there is always the possibility that things are not going according to plan.

“In the month we got pregnant – and even before we found out I was pregnant with two babies – Antonio and I went to the park to train.

“He was shooting with basketball and he said, ‘Well, if I shoot this basket and I succeed, you have twins. Just kidding”.

“And he did, and I said to myself, ‘Haha, very funny.’

Odalis went for her first ultrasound on her own because 31-year-old Antonio had to wait outside due to Covid regulations.

Odalis said, “I was so scared they would say, ‘Oh, no heartbeat,’ so I was so worried the whole time I was texting Antonio, ‘I’m so scared.’

“The doctor is coming and I am trying to prepare mentally for everything and when she found the first baby and the pulse, I cried with so much happiness.

“And then she started spinning back and forth and I was wondering why – my mind just went into the worst case scenario because of the traumatic experience we had.

“Then she told me she had found another baby who also had a palpitation.

“I was just crying with happiness. I had the feeling that the first baby we lost was in the room with me and he said he would be fine.

“When you go for the first ultrasound, they check everything around the day you actually conceived the baby, and then she told me they were conceived five days apart, which I didn’t even know could happen.”

The exact date of conception can be determined by looking at the size of the fetus and comparing it to the same growth pattern in other pregnancies.

The fetus grows quickly, which is how ultrasound can determine how old it is and how a specialist could tell that Imelda and Lilo were not conceived at the same time.

The mother of two said her due date was set in the middle – two days after one baby was about to turn 40, and two days before the other – 40 weeks.

The babies arrived on August 10, 2021, and Lilo, who was conceived first, was also born first, weighing 6lbs 12oz. This was followed by Imelda weighing 7lbs 3oz.

Odalis said: “I feel like it’s a miracle that I went through this double pregnancy. Due to our first experience, it made everything during this pregnancy feel very special and magical.

“How easily I managed to get pregnant and knowing that I had two babies, I just had the feeling that there is so much light after such a dark place. That was the best surprise.

“It was a really beautiful moment to finally be able to hold them in my arms.

“When I held them and knew they were fine, I couldn’t even explain how I felt. I love my family and my husband, but I just had never experienced love and happiness like this.

“That’s why he became president, because he has that temperament.

“But he doesn’t need a state, he does it anyway. In addition, he is the most tender and kind person in the world. And he’s so sexy.

In the 1980s, the Italian-born beauty was a hot commodity in the fashion world and walked for LaCroix and Chloe, among others, before embarking on a career in music.

Carla met Nicholas, who has three other children from previous relationships, at a dinner in 2007 and immediately got along.

After a tumultuous relationship, the couple married three months later and shared a daughter, Julia, ten years old, while Carla has a son, Aurelien Enthoven, 21, from a previous relationship.

Sarkozy received a 12-month sentence from a judge after being found guilty of illegally funding the 2012 election campaign.

A judge at the Paris Correctional Court said the 66-year-old, who served from 2007 to 2012, could serve his term from home – where he will have to wear an ankle bracelet.

Prosecutors demanded at least six months of actual imprisonment for Sarkozy, along with a six-month suspended sentence. His legal team has filed a complaint, which effectively postpones the verdict until their case is heard.

The latest sentence comes six months after Sarkozy received another two years in prison on probation for trying to bribe a judge.

At the time, Bruni called the sentence “pointless harassment,” promising to fight so that “the truth will see the light.”

Sarkozy’s legal team has also filed a complaint in the case, which means he remains a free man for the time being.

However, his legal problems will continue with pending corruption cases, including allegations that he received millions of money laundering from former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

The 25 year old man is accused of improving his plane ticket

The 25-year-old man is accused of improving his plane ticket to business class while his wife sits in an economy class.

A man has been declared an “absolute bastard” after upgrading his economy ticket to business class for a 12-hour flight – but left his wife in their original cabin.

The anonymous 25-year-old man who lives in Japanexplained on Reddit that he and his wife, aged 24, were going to the United States for a month’s vacation and were originally reserved to sit together.

However, he had the opportunity to use air miles to upgrade his business class ticket and took the opportunity.

He seemed surprised that his wife was “upset” by his decision and went to the online forum to ask him if he was “holding his ass.”

The 25-year-old anonymous man, who lives in Japan, explained to Reddit that he and his 24-year-old wife were going to the United States for a month’s vacation and were originally reserved to sit together.

He continued: “I told her this and she was upset because she thinks I chose business class over her and that’s obviously rude. I told her she was just jealous (playfully, jokingly) and she was upset and told me to ask the airline to see if I could get my seat back economical.

“I said, damn it, no, because I won’t miss the opportunity to sit in business class (which, by the way, looks amazing, look at the ANA room). In my eyes, it’s only a 12-hour flight, and it doesn’t matter if I’m sitting next to my wife or not.

“If it’s really bad, but I have another week before the flight to change it. AITA [am I the a*****e]?

The post was flooded with 2,200 comments in response to the original post, and the Reddit community was outraged and disbelieving that one could not see how selfish it was to prioritize business class upgrades.

One man wrote, “YTA [you’re the a*****e]. You literally dumped your wife and then made fun of her. You are absolutely the suitcase here and she is absolutely right to be upset.

Another said: “I would be extremely upset. “I’m going to enjoy my flight from this amazing place, good luck there, crowded with strangers, haha! I’ll tell you how my drinks and a full deck chair are!

“For a TWELVE HOUR intercontinental flight.” What AH [a*****e]. YTA [you’re the a*****e] and you better have fun here or get ready to pay for it later, because I guarantee you will.

Another user was confused, as were many, as to why the 25-year-old husband would like to sit with strangers and not his wife: “Why don’t you want to cuddle, talk and be with your wife? Isn’t one of the advantages of marriage never having to be alone on a plane again, haha.

Many Reddit users could not believe that one could not see how selfish it is to give priority to upgrading business class

Another Reddit user got into the situation to demonstrate how she and her husband would handle this: “If this happened to my husband and I, he would immediately pay to upgrade my site. Then it was like ‘honey, we have 2 upgrades for the price of 1!’

“OP [original poster] “I can’t believe you think you’re right here.” You even bragged about the benefits you get from this post. I mean, if it’s only 12 hours, as you say, then what’s the big deal?

“Or why couldn’t you just use the upgrade for its place? You know you’re a hypocrite in your argument with your wife, you just don’t care because you’re selfishly deciding what’s best for you.

One said he would always give priority to his wife: “If there is only one upgrade, my lady will be offered first. Then she would refuse him back, as she would rather be with me than be comfortable alone.

What does it mean to marry someone, don’t you think? I wouldn’t cash miles until there was enough for both. You don’t know how to get married at all.

One husband said that by taking his place, he automatically told his wife that he had priority over his wife, sending her a clear message: “YTA [you’re the a**hole]. Business class is offered with more space, better service and a quieter atmosphere.

“You send a message to your wife that you deserve all this, but she doesn’t. Why didn’t you modernize both places to have a better experience?

Another added to the selfish series of comments: “YTA [you’re the a**hole]. Either upgrade both places, or neither, upgrading only yours seems very selfish.

“Only” a 12-hour flight is not a sentence I hear so often, I’ve done 12-hour flights several times and they suck, even when you have a company you love. This flight will be even worse for your wife if she crashes into a stranger.

“Whether you understand why or not, your wife has let you know how YTA feels, too, if you ignore it.”

The original poster was later updated and explained that he saw the mistake in his way.

He posted: “Edit: yes, I’m AH [a**hole]I’m buying her an upgrade to sit next to me in business. I offered to change places, but she really wanted to sit next to me, I guess.

“Edit 2: Because so many people ask, they were my darlings and I couldn’t use them to upgrade her place.”
