The Minnesota Wild became just the sixth team out of 21 on Mondaye Century to score seven goals in one period. Thanks to this improvement in the third period, the 10-7 victory over the Vancouver Canucks was one of the most spectacular of the 2023-2024 season.
The record for goals in a game belongs to the Buffalo Sabres, who humiliated the Toronto Maple Leafs with nine goals in the second period on March 19, 1981. This type of performance has become significantly less common over the years.

Here are the five other seven-goal periods since 2000:
– Florida Panthers, March 16, 2023
This is a bad memory for the Montreal Canadiens, as this feat of weaponry was accomplished at their expense at the end of last season. Losing 9-5, Martin St-Louis' men were never able to keep up with the Panthers in 2022-2023, but their setbacks reached unprecedented levels in March. Ten goals were scored in the first half, which was particularly difficult for goalkeeper Jake Allen, who was sent off after six misses in 18 shots to relieve Samuel Montembeault, who therefore had to return to the game.

– St. Louis Blues, April 17, 2022
The Blues were on an incredible winning streak, going 16 games in a row without a loss. During that time, they won nine straight, the last of which was against the Nashville Predators. The second outing was particularly difficult for the home team at the Bridgestone Arena. It was inattention and errors of execution that undid them, as all the goals were scored due to a tie. Brayden Schenn, Jordan Kyrou and Calle Rosen all scored two goals in the Blues' 8-3 win.

– New York Rangers, March 17, 2021
Even with Rangers head coach David Quinn out due to COVID-19 – he was replaced by current Edmonton Oilers pilot Kris Knoblauch – the Blueshirts embarrassed the Philadelphia Flyers. “We couldn’t defend and we couldn’t play,” said coach Alain Vigneault after that bitter 9-0 defeat. Mika Zibanejad impressed with a natural hat trick and six points in the second period, which tied a national league record.

– New York Islanders, March 10, 2014
The Vancouver Canucks appeared to be headed for a relatively easy win as they led 3-0 after 40 minutes, but the Islanders completely surprised them with seven goals in the third period. They scored three goals on the power play and tied the game at 3:36 before Frans Nielsen gave them the lead. The tie was even created by Chris Tanev, but it only lasted 10 seconds before the Isles responded. Result of the race: a victory of 7 to 4.

– Buffalo Sabres, November 20, 2006
At one time, in 2006 and 2007, the Sabers won the Presidents' Trophy as the top regular-season team. Buffalo quickly made its intentions known with some compelling performances. A 7-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, thanks to second-period braces from Tomas Vanek and Paul Gaustad, was part of their strong performance in the first half of the season. Martin St-Louis scored both goals for the Bolts.
