For a number of years, Simone Montedoro was one of the most followed actors on television as the captain of the carabinieri in the acclaimed series Don Matteo, starring Terence Hill. Eventually, however, he had to stop and face the illness that afflicted him.
When we talk about Simone Montedoro we inevitably think of one of the most famous Rai 1 series as well as one of the longest in television history, Don Matteo. In that series, Montedoro played alongside captain Giulio Tommasi for eight seasons Terence Hill and Nino Frassica in the adventures of TV’s most famous detective.
In one of his last interviews with Simone Montedoro, ca Don Matteo He said: “He’s a character that will always remain in my heart. I had the chance to work with great actors such as Terence Hill and Nino Frassica, with which I had achieved a very good comedic balance. I also had a great time with the rest of the cast.”
Simone Montedoro has proven himself to be a real actor over the years, and not only when working in series but also on other occasions. Unfortunately, Simone has had to take a break from work for a period of time since then He contracted a terrible disease and fought a hard battle to defeat it. It was 2004 when the actor was diagnosed by doctors a very rare malignant tumor that attacks the lymphatic system, Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Once this still unknown disease was practically a death sentence, today this is fortunately no longer the case because research has continued and today it can be cured, albeit with a difficult path. Hodgkin lymphoma it affects an average of 4 people per 100,000 inhabitants in the 15-35 age group.
At his side throughout the years of treatment was his partner Lara Carnevale, a track and field professional who always stood by him in all difficult moments. The two also gave birth to a little boy. little Matteo, born in 2014.
When Montedoro had to give up acting
To cope with the illness, Montedoro had to give up acting for a while and focus on health. After a few rather difficult years, Simone managed to devote himself to his passion again and put the worst behind him. He worked in the theater in comedy All to myself on New Year’s Evehe then returned to take on the role of Captain Tommasi for just one special episode of Don Matteo and also took part in Dancing with the Stars. In March 2022 back to the theater with the comedy The Ideal Man.
Today Simone Montedoro dedicates himself almost exclusively to acting and lives his life as a family with his partner Lara and his son Matteo in Ibiza. But why Ibiza? He said it in a recent interview: “Years ago my partner Lara and I went to Ibiza to visit some friends: we fell in love with the place and decided to settle down there.”
Of course, this decision is linked to a frequent departure from home for work reasons, which often takes him to Italy, and is therefore also associated with a certain ordeal: “When I’m traveling for work, the distance to Matteo weighs on me. He’s doing well in Ibiza, it’s a very well organized island for children, there are lots of activities”.
