“At the beginning of the season, salmonids look for warmer, oxygen-rich water,” explains the expert. The tributaries of the lakes, the shallow bays are locations to be developed. I advise you to carry an echo sounder that shows the water temperature or even a thermometer to find the warmer water zones. It is certain that the fish will be more active there to feed and warm up after spending the winter in colder pits at the bottom of the lake. Two or three degrees can make all the difference. »
If you want to compete with the fish hiding in those warmer and shallower parts, you need to use lighter spoons.
“I advise amateurs to use spoons with different actions to increase their chances. There are wave movements and rotational movements. Both are good. I’m thinking of the Amazing Spoon, a lightweight twisting spoon, painted on both sides. It will reflect light. You must be trolling. We can also think of using the Fish Flasher, a wavy spoon that has proven itself for several years. Its holographic reflections of different colors emit great luminosity, making it possible to imitate the scales of a fish. »
If you opt for a rig with a wavy fish flasher that does not mix your monofilament, for example behind a nymph, the specialist advises leaving the tripod on your flasher.
“All too often anglers forget that when equipped with an attractor, in this case the fish flasher, the fish can attack the attractor. Trout often do this. You could miss a big catch. »
WHEN THE SEASON ADVANCES
As the season progresses, the water in the lakes warms up and can become uncomfortable for the trout, which seek refuge in deeper pits.

This season, Bruno Morency presents in its range these Deep Sea Divers that will allow you to sink your lure from 10 to 70 feet. They also have a windage adjustment of 30 feet. Ideal for people who don’t own a downrigger and want to fish deep.
“To help anglers, I developed the holographic wobbler in three inch and four inch sizes. These are rotating spoons. The three inches weigh an ounce that reach the depths where the fish are. I would say these are mid season spheres, July and August as the warmer water pushes the trout down to find a comfortable temperature. We are thinking here of temperatures between 55 and 65 degrees. The key feature of these heavier spoons is that you can cast them and sink low to place the bait under the fish’s nose. It is enough to go up quietly with dry movements to provoke the attack. They also allow the trolling enthusiast to get closer to the trout at the right depths. I recommend the stop/start strategy to create under-spoon movement. It is a provocation for the trout. »

As you can see this professional guide has developed an impressive range of lures to help you outsmart the species of your choice.
PRODUCTIVE MACHINING
The expert was careful to specify that it was necessary to calculate that a spoon would fall into a pit at the rate of one ounce for ten feet. That means a 2-ounce scoop goes down 20 feet.
He recommends using light colors on clear days to maximize UV reflection and dark colors on cloudier days.
Ever since I met Bruno Morency, he has been a constant reminder that productive editing can make all the difference.
“With anything I build to be an effective rig, the choice of fly to add with the spoon is critical. Always use a wet fly. »
The latter likes to use the black Woolly Bugger that imitates a leech.
“Several predators feed on it because of its high protein content. Walleye, trout and other species will attack it with ferocity. I also recommend using a translucent fluocarbon that is not visible to predatory fish, especially in lakes with very clear water. It must have a resistance of at least 15 lbs. If you install a fly 18 inches above the spoon, you risk double catches, since trout very often hunt in schools. Also, the fly imitating a dragonfly larva will be very effective. The fly outwits the most cunning of predators. »
