The Packers have “two backs number one” at Aaron Jones and AJ Dylan

The Green Bay Packers are still waiting for a decision on the future of Aaron Rodgers to determine what the quarterback situation looks like in 2022. However, there are no questions about the running room.

Speaking Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, coach Matt Lafleur boasted about the flexibility Aaron Jones and AJ Dylan bring to attack.

“We’re lucky, we have two defenders number one,” LaFlor said. “Both offer a little different. But the only thing I like about both boys is that they can manage football at a very high level, but only their contribution to the game of passes. Whether it’s defending, whether it’s backfield acceptance, whether it’s arranging them widely. I think they are both very flexible and that is an important part of our attack. “

Jones proved to be one of the most explosive defenders in the NFL, scoring 799 yards in 171 curries with four touchdowns in 15 games in 2021, adding 391 yards and six more results in 52 catches. Dillian, meanwhile, became a force in itself in Year 2, leading the Packers with 803 rushing yards with five TDs on 187 Curries. As a successor, Dillion also improved the rebounds, catching 34 of 37 targets at 313 yards and two results (two catches for 21 yards in 2020).

LaFleur was asked on Wednesday to get more touches from Dylan next season.

“I thought we mixed it in a decent amount last year, but it’s obviously not enough,” he joked. “He’s a prime return.”

With 6 feet, 247 pounds, Dylan proved a burden on the defense, especially at the end of the game with yards. Dylan’s 50 quick first downs last season were the most for a back with less than 200 curries.

“Of course, I think you felt the effect when we lost AJ in this playoff game. We were missing a little bit there, “LaFlore said of the Packers’ injury loss in the 49ers playoffs. “So we’re super excited about both of them, and I think AJ’s just scratching the surface of what’s going to happen.”

No matter who is under the center in 2022, Green Bay will boast one of the best backfields in the NFL. There is no need to classify them as № 1 or № 2. Rather, it is 1A and 1AA for packers.

Russians and Belarusians left the Paralympic Games amid a risk of a boycott

Faced with threats of withdrawal and growing hostility in the athletes’ village, organizers of the Winter Paralympic Games on Thursday reversed course and expelled athletes from Russia and Belarus.

The meeting came less than 24 hours after the International Paralympic Committee announced it would allow Russians and Belarusians to compete when the Games open on Friday, but only as neutral athletes with removed colors, flags and other national symbols due to the invasion. in Ukraine.

The Beijing Paralympic Games, which follow the Winter Olympics, end on March 13.

“The war has already come to these games and behind the scenes many governments are influencing our secret event,” IPC President Andrew Parsons said Thursday after announcing the ban. “We were trying to protect the Games from war.”

Parsons said the IPC underestimated the negative reaction to allowing Russians and Belarusians to compete – even as neutral athletes. The athletes’ village, which Parsons hoped would be a place of harmony, he now portrayed as a rolling box.

And not only Ukrainians were outraged by the participation of Russia and Belarus, but in general.

“We have no reports of specific incidents of aggression or anything like that,” Parsons said. “But it was a very, very unstable environment in (Athletes) Village.

“It was a very rapid escalation that we didn’t think would happen. We did not think that whole delegations or even teams in delegations would withdraw, boycott, not participate. “

The first case came when Latvia said its curls would refuse to play against the Russians in a scheduled group match.

IPC spokesman Craig Spence described a major change in just over 12 hours from athletes, administrators and politicians. He said the conversation was “now we are thinking of going home.” We don’t play. “

“This threatens the viability of this event. So this is a huge change, “Spence said. “The atmosphere in the village is not pleasant.”

Parsons said he expects legal action from the Russian and Belarusian Paralympic Committees, which he said he feared on Wednesday when he decided their athletes could compete. The likely venue is the Swiss-based Sports Arbitration Court.

“We believe that the Russian Paralympic Committee and the Belarusian Paralympic Committee can take legal action,” Parsons said. “But the facts we are expressing here have led us to understand that this is the right decision we need to make.”

Russia’s Paralympic Committee has called the decision to expel its athletes “unreasonable” and “illegal.”

“(Russian athletes) have not done anything that could be interpreted as being involved in the current political complications,” the RPC said.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also condemned the decision, calling it a “disgrace”.

“The situation is monstrous,” Peskov said. “One decision was made yesterday and another today.”

Parsons said he understood the disappointment of 71 Russians and 12 Belarusians to be sent home. He said he did not know how quickly this would happen, especially with the strict restrictions on COVID-19 in China.

“No one is happy with the decision, but it is certainly the best decision to host the Paralympic Games,” Parsons said.

The IPC is already joining sports such as football, track, basketball, hockey and others, which have imposed general bans on Russians and Belarusians.

The International Olympic Committee on Monday forced sports organizations to exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes from international events, but left the final decision to the various governing bodies.

The IOC has delayed the crackdown on Russia, allowing its athletes to compete in the last four Olympics following a state-sponsored doping scandal and cover-up of the Sochi Games in 2014. The IOC has also not removed Russians’ membership or leadership positions in its own organization.

Parsons also addressed the Russian and Belarusian athletes directly, saying they were not guilty.

“For parachutists from the affected countries, we are very sorry that you are affected by the decisions your governments took last week to violate the Olympic truce,” Parsons said. “You are a victim of the actions of your governments.”

“I tell you, I would like to have a clear vision of what the future holds, but I think there are a lot of great things for me and a lot of great opportunities that, I know, I said right after the football season that I look forward to spending time with my family. . And I’ve done it in the last five weeks, and I know there’s going to be a lot more than that. So, you know, I love being busy, that’s for sure, “said Brady Couples.

“I played a little golf and I will actually see my parents tonight, which will be a real highlight for me on their field. I will sleep in the same bed I slept in when I was a child. I don’t think my mother knows I’m coming home yet. So it’s just between my father and me, it’s a bit of a surprise.

“So we’re looking forward to it, we’re looking forward to some golf over the next few days and some more family time, and then we’ll know where to go from there.

Whether Brady will take a few months or a year off or never return will always be a matter of debate. After making the official announcement, he told “Let’s go!” podcast, he would “take things as they come.”

“I think that’s the best way to say it, and I don’t think anything, you know, you never say never. At the same time, I know that … I feel very good about my decision. I don’t know how I’ll feel in six months, “Brady told Jim Gray.

“I am trying to make the best possible decision I can make at the moment, which I did last week. Again, I don’t think we’re trying to reverse the course. I definitely don’t want to do that. But at the same time, I think you have to be realistic that you never know what the challenges will be in life. I loved playing again. I look forward to doing things other than playing. It’s as honest as I can be with you there. “

Some of Brady’s peers believe he still wants to play, The NFL Network reported.

“A lot of people feel that way [Brady] he was almost forced in that direction [to retire]”said Mike Jardi from NFL Media about Brady ‘s retirement.” [he] he still doesn’t want to go in that direction. “

Morning report: Dana White responds to Kane Velazquez’s charge of attempted murder

UFC President Dana White shared her thoughts on the tragic situation unfolding with Cain Velasquez and, like many others in the MMA community, White has a lot of sympathy for the former two-time UFC heavyweight champion.

Earlier this week, Velázquez was arrested and charged with attempted premeditated murder and nine other related charges following a shooting incident Monday afternoon in San Jose, California. Velázquez is said to have fired several .40-caliber pistols at a truck occupied by Harry Goularte Jr., who is accused of harassing a close relative of Velázquez and two older relatives, hitting Gullarte’s second father, who is expected. to survive the accident. Velázquez is also believed to have hit the truck with his own truck after an 11-mile high-speed chase prior to the alleged shooting.

Gularte was arrested on February 23rd after police were called to a children’s facility for alleged child sexual abuse. Gularte allegedly lived in the facility but was not an employee, and after police interviewed the victim, Gularte was arrested and charged with multiple counts of adultery with a minor. He was released on remand pending trial, and prosecutors say Goularte is about to take his ankle monitor ordered by the court when Velazquez is attacked.

Given the circumstances of the event, many fighters stood in defense of Velazquez and speaking to Barstool Sports on Wednesday, the UFC president added his voice to the crowd.

“I’m obviously sorry for him and his family,” White said. “It’s a terrible thing. I don’t know enough details to talk about it, but from what I’ve heard, we all say we would do it if it ever happened to us. Cain did it. “

But as the world of MMA rises in support of Velázquez, District Attorney Jeff Rosen appears ready to continue with the allegations, saying in a press release that Velázquez “took the law into his own hands, threatening the public and everyone in the truck.” Under § 664 of the California Penal Code, a charge of attempted premeditated murder is punishable by life imprisonment in a state prison with parole. Velazquez is currently denied bail and is expected to stand trial on Monday (March 7th).

“Two laws, love your wife and fight for your country. So they have to fight for their country. Why not? If the war comes in the United States or the United Kingdom, I will join. Don’t worry about it. We will all do it! Why don’t we protect our own land? Come on, behave yourself, “Fury said in an interview with TMZ Sports on Wednesday.”

Fury said the prospect of having money had nothing to do with it, because there might be no home to return to.

Fury said on Tuesday before his next match against Dillian White that he would do the same for his home country.

“Well, that’s what they have to do,” Fury told Ukrainian boxing stars’ talkSPORT. “When it comes to war in the UK, I will be first.

“I’ll be the first, I’ll be the easiest target to hit 6 feet-9 inches, I’ll be dead first. Frank [Warren] it will be overshadowed by the bullets behind me and I’ll just catch them all like crazy. “

Fury is the heavyweight champion of WBC and The Ring and has been since he defeated Deontay Wilder in 2020.

The “Gypsy King” told reporters at his press conference before the match that White’s battle will be the last in his career.

“This is the last battle of my career, I’m retiring after that. “$ 150 million in the bank, good-looking, healthy, young, I’m going to buy a massive yacht abroad,” Fury said. “I have lots of cars and properties all over the world. I’m just going to sit with a hot blonde and pin a colada … I’m retiring, I’m going out, this is my last battle, my last countdown, I’m done. “

Transsexual swimmer U. Penn Leah Thomas “Couldn’t get out of bed” amid reaction from other athletes

University of Pennsylvania swimmer Leah Thomas has revealed her determination to continue swimming, even after facing resistance from other athletes.

In an exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated for their April issue (released March 24), the 22-year-old detailed her state of mind before moving transsexual, moving from the men’s to the women’s swimming team and breaking records.

Before leaving, Thomas said she began thinking about her gender identity toward the end of high school. And although she had joined the family, her struggle with sexual dysphoria became so persistent in her second year at Penn that it began to affect her daily life.

Instead of enjoying the glory of the successful 2018-19 season, when she was selected to the All-Ivy swimming team, she recalled: “I was very depressed. I got to the point where I couldn’t go to school. there were no lessons. My sleep schedule was super messed up. Some days I couldn’t get out of bed. “

She said: “At that moment, I knew I had to do something to deal with it.”

Over time, she told SI: “I tried my best to get close to close friends, several coaches. But in this depressed, very struggling state of mind, it’s hard to make progress when so much of my energy has been trying to survive every day. “

Leah Thomas

She started hormone replacement therapy in May 2019, adapting to the changing body, when she began the formal process of moving to the women’s team and began to accept that her achievements in the men’s team are from “a different moment in my life.”

After a one-year hiatus due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on collegiate athletics, she joined Penn’s women’s team in late summer 2021.

The change had made her feel “revived.” Others were not so excited.

Although Thomas had followed protocol, the transfer created a division in the team – not to mention the media and college athletics.

This month alone, 16 members of the Women’s Swimming Team at the University of Pennsylvania wrote an anonymous open letter expressing their belief that Thomas should not be allowed to compete.

The letter urges school and Ivy League officials not to take legal action against NCAA’s recently updated transgender policy, according to The Washington Post.

It is reported that the new decision will potentially prevent Thomas from competing in the NCAA Championship next month.

This year, Pennsylvania introduced HB 972, also known as the Women’s Sports Rescue Act, which encourages students to play in a gender-appropriate team at birth. Thomas previously spoke about the impact of such legislation in an interview with Penn Today.

“One of my biggest worries about trance people is feeling alone,” said Thomas, co-chair of Penn Non-Cis, an organization that provides a community for trance and non-binary people. “Even if you don’t pay attention to the news.” [about] states that propose and pass vicious anti-trance legislation can feel very lonely and overwhelming. “

“I’m a woman, just like everyone else on the team,” Thomas added in an interview with SI. “I’ve always looked at myself as a swimmer. That’s what I’ve done for so long; that’s what I love. I go into the water every day and do my best.”

Looking ahead, Thomas admitted: “I don’t know exactly what the future will look like … after this year” – maybe even include swimming for the US team at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

She hopes that by competing, she can open the door to other translators. “I just want to show trance kids and younger trance athletes that they are not alone,” she confirmed. “They don’t have to choose between who they are and the sport they love.”

And whatever her racing career, Thomas is sure of one thing: “I want to swim and compete the way I am.”

Veteran safety Tyrant Mathieu would be suitable for the Cowboys in a free agency – if they open the checkbook | Blogging The Boys (Dallas Cowboys SB Nation website)

One thing that could stop the 29-year-old from becoming a Cowboy is Dallas’s current lid situation. Mathieu is expected to receive three years, $ 48.75 million as a free agency, according to Professional football focus. After restructuring some contracts, the Cowboys could afford to give the veteran this deal, but that would probably mean they would have to cut some costs on another defensive position.

Another potential hurdle could be that Dallas had many chances to sign Mathieu with much cheaper deals in the past and did not take the opportunity. Of course, there was a very different coaching staff, so that could play a big part in Dallas not showing interest in the honey badger.

Signing Mathieu would be an intriguing addition to the defense, but it would also be a serious risk. The former third-round pick had some problems early in his career, including two ACL tears and a shoulder injury. Although he has played in 15 or more games in each season since 2017, it is fair to ask whether his injury problems could recur when he enters his tenth season in the league.

Emanuel Ogbach

It was in Kansas City that Emmanuel Ogba made his most significant jump in production in the 2019 season – and if it weren’t for a chest injury in the middle of the year, he could have helped the team finish its Super Bowl LIV series. He has since joined Miami dolphins for two years, publishing nine sacks each season without missing a single game. In 2019 with Kansas City, Ogbah collected 5.5 sacks in 10 games – it is clear that the range of nine to 10 sacks is a reasonable expectation for the whole season.

The past connection makes this obvious as a potential signing – while the hat space situation was a little worse for Kansas City in 2020, they now have the financial resources to bring Ogbach back if he is at the top of the wish list. A new deal for the 28-year-old climber is likely to come in about 3 or 4 years; 10-15 million dollars per season.

Ogbah will not present himself as an elite defender, but he will be very good, who can play at all high-level downs. His 126 pressures in the last two years rank sixth among all the vanguards – and yet his best years may be ahead of him.

Stanford star female football goalkeeper Katie Meyer, 22, was found dead on campus

A Stanford University student found dead on campus has been identified as Katie Meyer, team captain and star goalkeeper for the 2019 Cardinal women’s national football team, CBS San Francisco reported.

Although they did not reveal any details about Mayer’s death, the university said the campus was in a state of mourning and that grief counselors were available.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that Katie Meyer, a senior major in International Relations and History major, a permanent assistant and team captain and goalkeeper for the Stanford women’s soccer team, has died,” university officials said in a news release. “Please join us in expressing our deepest condolences to her parents and sisters. We would also like to express our heartfelt condolences to Katie’s friends, classmates, classmates, teammates, teachers and coaches. “

“Katie was extremely committed to everything and everyone in her world,” the statement continued. “Her friends describe her as a team player who is bigger than life in all her pursuits.

The 22-year-old grew up in Burbank and excelled in football at an early age. She was a member of the national under-16 girls’ team, which played in Italy and the Netherlands.

At Stanford, as a freshman with a red shirt, she made 16 starts in 2019 with 0.26 goals against the average and 0.818 percent of the save. But she will always be remembered for her performance in the NCAA Championship 2019 shootout.

“Fierce racing, Katie made two critical saves in penalties against North Carolina to help Stanford win her third NCAA Women’s Football Championship in 2019,” said university officials. “Katie was a bright light for so many people on the field and in our community.”

The news of Mayer’s death caused an outpouring of emotions on social media.

“Aaaaaa. I send it to Katie’s family and friends. Heartbreaking. Embrace someone close to you. Tell them how much you love him, “said former Stanford star and great national team player Julie Foody.

“Rest in peace ❤️ We miss you, fly high angel … please all hug your loved ones today,” wrote former teammate and professional footballer Tegan McGrady.

“My heart is broken. I had the honor of playing with Katie for one season and she inspired not only me but everyone else around her.” Your amazing heart and smile will be missing. “Sending love to my friends and family.” , published by former teammate Lauren Sesselman.

In a statement Tuesday to Stanford students, faculty and staff, Vice Vice President of Student Affairs Susie Brubaker-Cole said a student had died at a campus residence. It appears to have occurred at Crothers Hall, where police and an ambulance were spotted around 11 a.m.

The Stanford Daily reported that a police officer had identified the death as emergency medical care. Brubaker-Cole quoted police as saying there was no constant threat to the safety of those on campus. The school did not identify the student at the time, nor the cause of death, in order to respect the family’s privacy.
