Mario to save Switch Online in April

It has now been a few weeks since Nintendo unveiled its Switch Online + Additional Pack offer, which notably allows you to play a selection of Nintendo 64 and SEGA Mega Drive games in addition to the NES and Super Nintendo games that have been in place since launch to get your hands on the offer. A new offer, the price of which has obviously been corrected upwards, which didn’t please many players…

A “new” Mario on Nintendo Switch in April!

Nevertheless, Nintendo continues to expand its “retrogaming” toy library on Nintendo Switch, although a former employee of the company recently revealed that the Japanese giant was groping in the dark with its Switch Online offering. In addition, from April 15, subscribers to the Switch Online + Additional Pack service will be able to (re)live the joys of an emblematic Nintendo 64 game: Mario Golf.

Mario Golf first launched on the vaguest console in history in 1999, so it’s set to expand the catalog of Nintendo 64 games for the Nintendo Switch. Note that the Nintendo Switch already has a dedicated golf game in Mario Golf Super Rush that doesn’t seem to have really managed to wow the masses.

On the company’s amateur side, we don’t hide a certain frustration as many thought of seeing Kirby 64 fall this month of April. Nintendo’s little pink ball, which just landed on Nintendo Switch (again) with the excellent opus Kirby and the Forgotten World, is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary and is set to appear on Switch soon in its Nintendo 64 version.

SNK is now 96% owned by the Saudi Prince’s Foundation

Back in 2020, part of the shares of SNK Corporation was bought by EGDC, a division of the MiSK Foundation established by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, heir to the throne of Saudi Arabia. In February 2022, a new step was just taken as SNK is now 96.18% owned by the Electronic Gaming Development Company.

It’s not just a video game

That’s news that might seem anecdotal, especially since SNK isn’t really the center of attention anymore, with the company even announcing a €8 million loss last year. However, SNK is a historical Japanese video game company known to enthusiasts for many licenses such as King of Fighters or Metal Slug.

Unfortunately, SNK’s finances have not been in good shape since the 2000s and they are being bought out by Aruze at this point. In 2015, 37games got their hands on the wallet to acquire. It doesn’t stop there as in 2020, MiSK will begin repurchasing up to 33% of SNK stock through its Electronic Gaming Development Company division with the intention of eventually becoming a controlling shareholder.

That finally happened on Feb. 15, when EGDC acquired 96.18% of SNK for 37.197 won per share, for a grand total of nearly $602 million. The information has only just been dug up by ResetERA as the takeover report was only published on SNK’s Korean site and has so far gone unnoticed.

SNK is now 96% owned by the Saudi Prince's Foundation

Indeed, this takeover is part of a great machine that the Saudi prince has created to gloss over his country’s reputation and the controversies surrounding his own actions. Companies like Activision Blizzard, Take-Two or Electronic Arts have the Saudi investment fund Ryad among their shareholders. The idea is to invest in a promising industry and promote the future of Saudi youth. The irony is that video games are still heavily censored in Saudi Arabia.

The MiSK Foundation has several subsidiaries that invest in various entertainment industries, but it’s still hard to see them as anything other than a big propaganda campaign. Saudi Arabia is known to be a brutal political regime towards its opponents, even if for several years its leaders have tried to soften international opinion, for example by allowing more freedom for women.

Under the guise of his tolerance speeches, Prince Mohammed bin Salman is often indirectly singled out for the actions and repressions perpetrated in Saudi Arabia. In particular, he is accused of the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi or the disappearance and imprisonment of his opponents and members of his own family to secure power.

You urgently need to update Chrome

Google has urged Chrome users to update their browsers over a security issue, the third of its kind in less than 10 days.

Google has warned its 3.2 billion users of the service about this new “threat” on its blog, which has been classified as “high” according to a note on its blog.

Few details have been leaked about this vulnerability, and Google provides very little information on how to protect users who haven’t updated their browser.

According to several specialists, the flaw has not yet been exploited by malware or humans.

This type of vulnerability allows hackers to potentially take complete control of your computer.

Google regularly releases security patches for Chrome and typically fixes more than a dozen vulnerabilities at once.

However, experts argue that emergency patches for isolated security gaps are unusual.

To update your Chrome, you need to go to the Chrome About menu.

You then need to start downloading the new version available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

The number of the new version is 100.4896.75.

Important: You must restart your computer for the update to work.

If success smiles at the Apple TV+ service after a notorious start, Apple Arcade wants to believe it too. The subscription-based service, which offers unlimited access to a catalog of more than a hundred games, is enjoying growing popularity, with titles like Fantasian, which was crowned best mobile game by several websites last year, and several high-quality exclusives. But it seems to be struggling to find a place in gamers’ hearts and devices.

However, the Apple brand goes to great lengths to frequently add titles with excellent graphics, storytelling, and playability quality. Last month, Monument Valley 2+, the full version of the mobile title with no ads or in-app purchases, or even the new Alto’s Adventure: The Spirit of the Mountain were offered to subscribers.

Race, fun and poetry

In April, Apple uses two well-known licenses to spread its message. Starting with Sonic, the legendary hero of Sega, arriving on April 8th Sonic Dash+ (only on iPhone, iPod and iPad). This time it’s not a new game for Apple Arcade, but an improved version of the runner released in 2013. But it adds a very simple and very popular feature: leaderboards between players around the world to compare your performance and win prizes.

For the rest, the game uses the original recipe with its 3D environments inspired by Sonic The Hedgehog, but in a modern version. You have to overcome the obstacles in this endless racing game, use your super powers to dodge attacks and accelerate. You can choose to play Sonic, but also Tails, Shadow or Knuckles.

Announced during the last spring keynote, Road Gear Club is here to highlight the capabilities of the A15 Bionic and M1 chips. The racing game by the French studio Eden Games is primarily designed for mobile use. In particular, it takes the pilots to the landscapes of Tuscany and at the wheel of emblematic brands (Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Pagani, McLaren, Porsche, etc.). The recipe remains the same: join a club with your friends and take part in events to make your team shine. You can then upgrade your vehicle in your mansion’s workshops, compete against up to 5 other players and unlock tons of content. Rev up the engines on April 8th.

GTA 6, no information but many rumors

It will have to be very patient before gathering new information about GTA 6. A few months ago by Rockstar official (in a tweet that has become the most popular in the history of video games), GTA 6, which could zap the PS4 , is the subject of many fantasies, well fueled by rumors on the Internet, let’s say.

This time the rumor we’re going to talk about are the protagonists of the next game in the Grand Theft Auto series. According to an insider, the players will play a brother and sister and the story will span several years.

A brother, a sister and an evolution map in GTA 6

Accordingly ” Matheusvictorbr ‘, often well-informed about the GTA saga, the next installment in the franchise, GTA 6, will have a brother and sister as the main protagonists. In addition to this information, he claims to know the synopsis of the game.

According to him, the two characters “were separated following the death of their parents in the prologue in 2003”; He doesn’t stop there, adding that GTA 6 will “feature destructible environments and map changes as the story unfolds”.

If all of this is confirmed, GTA 6 could have a unique flavor. The map, which evolves according to the game’s story, is particularly intriguing and would be a first for an open-world title. As usual, don’t expect Rockstar to respond to these remarks in the coming weeks. Keep in mind that GTA 6 could be released in 2024.

The prenatal protoplanet confounds models of planet formation

The “prenatal” protoplanet confounds models of planet formation

An international team of researchers has discovered a new planet so young it has not yet emerged from the belly of matter where it is forming. It is the youngest protoplanet discovered so far. Its location and surrounding material patterns suggest that an alternative method of planet formation may be at work. This discovery could help explain the history and properties of extrasolar planets observed around other stars.

In the standard model of planet formation, a large, gaseous Jupiter-like planet begins as a rocky core in a protoplanetary disk around a young star. This core then collects gas from the disk and becomes a giant planet. While this model works well for planets in the Solar System, it has difficulty explaining exoplanets discovered around other stars at distances much greater than the orbit of Neptune, the most distant planet in the system.

Rock cores should not form far from the host star, so core accretion cannot lead to the formation of distant planets. One theory holds that the outer planets form near the central star and move outward. But new observations using an extremely adaptive optics system that allows the Subaru telescope to directly image faint objects near brighter stars show that a protoplanet appears to be forming directly from a distance of 93 AU: more than three times the distance between Sun and Neptune.

Analysis of this object, called AB Aur b, shows that a simple pattern of starlight reflected off a disk anomaly cannot reproduce the observations; but also not a naked planetary model. The best fitting models show that AB Aur b is such a young protoplanet that it is still forming in a womb from matter in the protoplanetary disc. The spiraling structures near the disk correspond to models in which a planet forms directly from the gravitational collapse of surrounding matter. This discovery has profound implications for explaining the numerous observed peripheral exoplanets and the entire theoretical model of planet formation.

“This study sheds new light on our understanding of different modes of planet formation,” says Thayne Currie, lead author of the discovery paper.

The 8.2-meter Subaru Telescope is located near the summit of Hawaii’s Maunakea, an inactive volcano known for its unparalleled qualities as an astronomy site and for its deep personal and cultural meaning to many native Hawaiians.

1649303092 Max Payne Remake 1 and 2 announced

Max Payne Remake 1 and 2 announced

Remedy and Rockstar Games announce the return of Max Payne with two new remakes. The first and second installments will be updated for the PC, PS5 and Xbox series.

(Credit Image: Remedy Entertainment)

In this surprising announcement, we learn that the Remedy studio will be working under Rockstar thanks to a new publishing agreement that will bring back the first two Max Payne games in remakes. Remedy studio will take care of the development of these new AAA games, while Rockstar will fund the project.

These remakes should reflect the spirit of the originals well, as Max Payne 1 and 2 were also developed by Remedy and published by Rockstar. Max Payne 3, on the other hand, was a pure rock star production.

Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the same goes for millions of fans around the world,” said Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy.

These remakes are developed on Remedy’s engine, the Northlight game engine. The same engine has also been used by the studio to develop games like Control in 2019 or the new Alan Wake 2 to come.

The team looks forward to bringing players the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games in a new way.

The project appears to be a complete remake as it will be developed on Remedy’s latest engine for new generations of consoles and for PC and will receive triple-A funding. It’s not clear yet if the two remakes will be available in a single game. or whether it will be necessary to acquire two different games to play the two remakes.

Rockstar Games is preparing a remake of Max Payne games

Rockstar Games is preparing a remake of Max Payne games

This is information that falls out of nowhere, but is terribly enjoyable. Remedy studio just announced that it has reached an agreement with Rockstar Games (GTA, Red Dead) to bring remakes of Max Payne (2001) and Max Payne 2 (2004) to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC develop.

This is the first collaboration between the two studios since Rockstar Games took over the Max Payne license in the 2000s. The project seems ambitious and is already the dream of many early fans!

Max Payne is back in 4K

Remedy announced the news through an official press release on its website. The information was shared by our colleagues at Rockstar Mag. We learn that these Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are part of Remedy’s big projects with a budget worthy of the studio’s AAA games (like Control, Quantum Break or even Alan Wake 2). .

At the moment we don’t know much about the project. Remedy therefore announced the following points:

  • The studio will take care of the development of both games
  • These will be standalone titles (independent of each other)
  • Rockstar Games is funding the project
  • The remakes run on the graphics engine of Remedy: the Northlight (the engine of Control and Alan Wake 2)
  • The games are expected on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC
  • Substantial budget worthy of triple-A gaming
  • The project is currently in the concept phase (active development has not started yet)

We should therefore not expect to find Max in late 2022 or 2023. Remedy is currently developing the highly anticipated Alan Wake 2, which is slated for release in 2023. These two remakes could therefore arrive in 2024 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Max Payne 2.
