The robot from the Monegasque company Venturi is scheduled to fly to the moon with SpaceX in 2026

Maneuvering alone in a desert landscape, a small robot moves, takes samples, records the surroundings, photographs them, and makes analyses.

The FLEX video presented on Friday summarizes what is required of a rover, the name given to these mobile robots destined to explore planets other than Earth.

But this rover designed by the Venturi house has an added benefit: it has its ticket to a lunar mission! The Monegasque group Venturi has just announced that its rover, dubbed FLEX, will be heading to the moon within three years.

A stage that in 2026 will write “the most impressive page” in the history of the company founded in Monaco by Gildo Pastor, who since 2000 has specialized in the design and manufacture of high-performance electric vehicles.

This FLEX rover, currently being designed, will be the technological companion to a SpaceX mission. The American company – founded by the eccentric billionaire Elon Musk – develops space activities and space flights.

His teams were seduced by the potential of the Venturi rover and were tasked with transporting it to the Moon for research, scientific experimentation and commercial activities. The machine will be launched into space via the Starship system developed by SpaceX.

A permanent outpost

Arrived safely, FLEX must be able to move semi-autonomously on the moon while still being able to respond to the controls of the astronauts at its side. In fact, the rover is designed to move a ton of material. It can also be controlled from the future station in lunar orbit, but also from Earth.

“FLEX is a logistics system capable of handling a variety of cargo. We believe this approach will enable the establishment of a permanent lunar outpost on the moon at a lower cost and in less time than anticipated,” said Jaret Matthews, Founder and CEO of Venturi Astrolab , “to demonstrate the advantages of the FLEX rover and its modular payload system”.

“The Largest and Most Powerful Lunar Vehicle”

The stays on the moon, where the temperatures fluctuate between -90° and -230°C, prove to be hostile. FLEX must be able to withstand the radiation or even operate for fifteen days in the darkness of the moon’s south pole.

It is with these reliability challenges that the Venturi teams are trying to find solutions to build “the largest and most efficient in lunar vehicle history”.

A project driven by the historic roots of the Venturi Group in Monaco and voiced by two other companies.

The group designs this electric machine, developed with a great deal of brainpower by engineers and scientists from the fields of space mobility, terrestrial and planetary robotics, development industry, advanced technology research, electromobility, fuel cells and batteries, hydrogen storage, composite materials and manufacturing processes.

A working team in favor of the Venturi Group, which, after leaving its mark in world speed records, in the design of innovative vehicles or in the Formula Electric World Championship, aspires to live there.

He tracks down the thief of his vehicle with an AirTag and kills him

A San Antonio, Texas man attempting to confront the thief of his vehicle allegedly killed him after tracking him down with an Apple AirTag.

Last Wednesday, San Antonio police reportedly received a call from an owner to report a stolen pickup truck, local television station KSAT-TV reported.

CNN

The latter had managed to locate the thief in question using an Apple AirTag, a small device that allows you to locate lost items hidden inside the vehicle.

Except that while waiting for the police to arrive at the scene, the owner of the vehicle decided to confront the suspect, a 30-year-old man.

If the sequence of events is still unclear, the thief appears to have drawn a gun before the owner responded in the same manner, shooting and killing the suspect who was still in the stolen vehicle.

CNN

“I know it’s frustrating, but please don’t take this into your own hands,” Officer Nick Soliz, spokesman for the San Antonio Police Department, told the TV network.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the thirty-something’s death. The owner of the vehicle could expect a report.

Pixel 7a: 90Hz screen, photo modules… everything we know about Google’s next mid-range

The Pixel 7a, Google’s next mid-range smartphone, should be launched very quickly if we are to believe the many rumors that have been circulating over the past few months. A product that aims to offer again very good photos and the latest Android version at a quite competitive price. Overview of all the reliable information we found on the internet.

If the smartphone isn’t officially confirmed yet, let’s not hazard a guess: a few months after the release of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro in October 2022, Google should release a light version of these flagships in 2023, dubbed the Pixel 7a. An identical business strategy since the first model of the “a” range, launched four years ago.

Google is true to its bad reputation when it comes to leaking information about its upcoming phones, because if we believe the numerous rumors of reliable leakers that have been shared in recent months, we already know almost all the technical sheets of the smartphone Google… and those 2023 edition looks very good. We summarize everything we know about this smartphone.

A little doubt about its positioning

We first know the codename of this Pixel 7a. According to the specialized site 9to5Google, the next Google middle class would correspond to the model called “Lynx” internally. But the association of the 7a with this nickname did not seem logical at first.

We initially thought that this “Lynx” corresponded to an upcoming premium smartphone, the Pixel Ultra, since some rumors linked to this codename suggested better features, sometimes better than those of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Finally, with no information confirming the existence of such a model, contrary to the numerous rumors surrounding the Pixel 7a, it seemed more likely that it was going to be Google’s next mid-range. Undoubtedly a sign that the Pixel is set to get a little closer to its high-end friends this year. let’s go around

A theme copied and pasted from the Pixel 7

By the end of October 2022, 9to5Google was arguing that “everything that’s leaked so far on Google’s Lynx device indicates something much more premium than we’d normally expect from the Pixel 7a.”

And with good reason: as early as August 2022, a post by the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station on the social network Weibo claimed that the smartphone could be partially made of ceramic. It would be the first time Google has used such a high-quality material on one of its smartphones, which were previously made of glass, metal and/or plastic. Let’s not get excited though, because since then the various renders of the phone have been contradicting this thesis.

High precision 3D renderings

On the other hand, the rest of the exterior design shouldn’t surprise us. In November 2022, generally reliable leaker OnLeaks teamed up with website Smartprix to share detailed 3D renders of what the Pixel 7a is supposed to look like.

Like the other models in the “a” range, the smartphone shares the same aesthetics as Google’s latest flagship. As with the Pixel 7, the visuals present a phone with a metallic horizontal block that integrates two photo modules and a flash, and a flat screen with a central hole.

The only visual differences: the corners of the screen could be less rounded and the edges of its plate would be thicker than the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, with an even bigger chin. Also according to this OnLeaks rumor, the dimensions would be “152.4 x 72.9 x 9.0mm (10.1mm with the photoblock)”.

The phone would also have the same placement of volume and unlock buttons on the right edge, a USB-C port, and no 3.5mm jack that’s gone since the Pixel 6a. The model represented is in white color on the 3D renderings.

Three colors and a waterproof certification

This design also appears to be confirmed in a video of an alleged Pixel 7a prototype that was posted to a Vietnamese Facebook group in early January 2023 and then shared by the Slashleaks site. The video instead shows a black phone this time, but with a screen chin that doesn’t appear to be as large as OnLeaks’ 3D renders.

Several models of the future smartphone are said to be present in Vietnam, which prompted the Vietnamese blog Zing to share various photos of the model.

A third light blue colorway was also unveiled by the leaker Kuba Wojciechowski on Twitter in early March. Finally, the leaker’s information Debayan Roy published on Twitter in early March 2023 mention in particular an “IP” seal certification, although it is not yet known whether it will be IP67 like the Pixel 6a or IP68 like the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Finally a 90 Hz screen?

In terms of screen tech, the Pixel 7a would fix its predecessor’s main flaw, according to several reliable rumors put forward over the past few months. In October 2022 the leak Kuba Wojciechowski claimed in a post on his Twitter account that the mid-range smartphone’s screen would “apparently be capped at 1080p [de définition] and 120Hz[de taux de rafraichissement]”. A lower resolution than the Pixel 7 Pro, but identical to the Pixel 7.

— Kuba Wojciechowski:3 (@Za_Raczke) November 11, 2022

The same leaker has specified his information in November 2022, stating that the Pixel 7a could have a “90Hz” display that would effectively be stuck at 1080p. A video of a prototype of this smartphone, published in a Vietnamese Facebook group in early January 2023, also shows a screen with a variable refresh rate between 60 and 90 Hz thanks to an automatic adjustment mode.

Information that could be confirmed by the leaker’s information Debayan Roy on Twitter, early March 2023, even stating that the panel would be 6.1 inches and Oled. Therefore, if we believe all these rumours, this “a” model would retain the same format as the 6a, while offering a refresh rate in excess of 60Hz for the first time… matching the Pixel 7 panel.

Good photos that could be improved

On the photo side, we still expect the quality of the shots of this next model to be one of its selling points. The American manufacturer would not have wanted to rest on these laurels with the Pixel 7a.

Are the first rumors of the leaker Kuba Wojciechowski In October 2022, when he bluntly mentioned three photo modules for the “Lynx” smartphone with even better sensors than the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, he finally nuanced those improvements.

After these changes, the camera sensors will be referred to as “l10_wide” (IMX787) and “l10_UW” (IMX712) without a dedicated telephoto lens.

IMX787 is a huge upgrade over the old IMX363 and should make the 7a an even better choice for mid-range camera quality.

— Kuba Wojciechowski:3 (@Za_Raczke) November 11, 2022

in November 2022, Kuba Wojciechowski shared on Twitter that the Pixel 7a would come with a duo of photo modules identical to the Pixel 6a but with better sensors:

  • A Sony IMX787 main wide-angle module with a resolution of 64 megapixels (vs. 12 MP for the Pixel 6a)
  • A Sony IMX712 ultra wide-angle module with a resolution of 13 megapixels (vs. 12 MP for the Pixel 6a)
  • A Sony IMX712 ultra-wide front camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels (compared to 8 MP on the Pixel 6a)

A combination of sensors that could be confirmed by the information released by the leaker Debayan Roy on Twitter in early March 2023. The same modules are mentioned there by Kuba Wojciechowski. That would be a huge leap over the Pixel 6a’s cameras.

Modernized internal components

As early as August 2022, the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station claimed on the social network Weibo that an upcoming Google smartphone should be equipped with the in-house processor Tensor G2 in addition to the Pixel 7.

Information that could be confirmed by the information reported by the leaker in March 2023 Debayan Roy on twitter. In what he says is the Pixel 7a spec sheet, the leaker also claims that the smartphone will come with LPDDR5 RAM and a UFS 3.1 storage standard. Two technologies that are already present in the predecessor.

Pixel 7A

• 6.1″ FHD+ 90Hz OLED
• Tensor G2, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1
• 64MP Sony IMX787 + 12MP UW
• 5W wireless charging
• Android 13 pic.twitter.com/qGVzFQoKiZ

—Debayan Roy (Gadgetsdata) (@Gadgetsdata) March 9, 2023

Finally, an alleged prototype of the Pixel 7a that appeared on eBay (via Tom’s Guide US) according to Fastboot mode in mid-March 2023 indicates that the smartphone could offer 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. A significant increase, since the three previous models offered only 6 GB of RAM since 2020.

So the Pixel 7a would offer just as much RAM as the Pixel 7 while being just as efficient. A new sign that the gap between the two models may not be very large.

New to charging and connectivity

Another novelty that the next Pixel 7a could include: wireless charging. In October and then in November 2022 the leak Kuba Wojciechowski shared a snippet of Android operating system code via his Twitter account that mentions a “P9222” chip for the “Lynx” smartphone. A technology that ensures wireless charging, but with a maximum speed of 5W.

If the Pixel 7a was well equipped with it, it would be the first model in the range again, but this is more indicative of reverse charging functionality for things like a wireless headphone case.

Another interesting detail is that 7a will most likely be the first device with a Google Tensor chip to include Qualcomm’s WiFi/BT solution – WCN6740. https://t.co/fOdXHaXUuM

— Kuba Wojciechowski:3 (@Za_Raczke) November 11, 2022

Always according to this leakerthe Pixel 7a could use a new Qualcomm chip that manages both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. This would be 6E compatible. In this case, this chip would replace the Pixel 6 and 7’s Broadcom modem, which has been criticized for its connectivity issues.

In addition, the Pixel 7a would also support Bluetooth LE via Android 13, according to a leak reported by 9to5Google back in August 2022 from an internal discussion between two Google employees. A technology that already supported the Pixel 6a.

The latest version of Android, of course

If the previous rumor mentioned the presence of Android 13, it seems consistent to us: since Google develops this operating system itself, the company has always taken the opportunity to include the latest version in its Pixel smartphones.

According to a video published in a Vietnamese Facebook group in early January 2023, this seems to be confirmed for the Pixel 7A: a prototype of what the Pixel 7a could be actually runs Android 13.

Google promises three years of major updates and five years of security patches for all its Pixel smartphones. That too should apply to this next Pixel 7a, with the certainty of being able to access Android 14 as soon as it is released, probably between August and September 2023.

What would be the price and release date of the Google Pixel 7a?

While there are no rumors about the price of the next Pixel 7a, we can legitimately base it on that of the Pixel 6a when it’s released in France: €460. Since the Pixel 7’s price has remained similar to the Pixel 6’s, we can hope that the Pixel 7a’s price will follow the same trend, although it could be a bit more expensive due to inflation and increases in raw materials.

We’ve never been this close to not having it

However, there are still uncertainties. First, we’re not immune to an early announcement from the Google I/O conference on May 10, 2023. In fact, the Pixel 6a itself had been announced in May 2022, unlike the previous two generations, which they announced over the summer.

In terms of release date, the same logic suggests that the smartphone would be released in the summer as the previous three models in Google’s “a” range. The Pixel 6a was released on July 21, 2022.

Let’s also remember that an American announcement does not guarantee a release in France: in 2021 the Pixel 5a was only sold in the United States and Japan. So we keep our fingers crossed that Google decides again to market the Pixel 7a in France.

Would you like to join a community of enthusiasts? Our discord welcomes you, it’s a place of mutual help and passion for technology.

The mobile phone at 50, the developments and models that shaped their era – Lesmobiles

On April 3, 1973, Martin Cooper, inventor of the cellular phone, made the first ever cellular call in New York, United States. Telephoning is one of the many functions that are possible with a mobile phone today. Back to the developments and models of mobile phones that marked their time.

Using a mobile phone weighing 1.2 kg and 22 cm long, Martin Cooper, the inventor of the mobile device, made the first call. The idea came to him, among other things, from the Star Trek series, in which the famous Captain Kirk spoke with his switch. He was also driven by the development of telephones in cars, but using them bothered him because people stayed in their vehicles to make calls.
The first mobile phone was therefore extremely bulky. Also, it took 10 hours to recharge the battery, which allowed it to talk on the phone for just 35 minutes…

From Bi-Bop to Razr

Since then, cell phones have come a long way. One of the first cult phones was the Bi-Bop, launched in France in 1991. This mobile phone had to use the networks of specific radio terminals that could both make and receive calls.

The Nokia 5110 has access to more global networks and has been a great success. It is one of the most popular phones of its generation and was the first to offer the Snake game and be able to change its case at will to display different colors. In 1999, Ericsson caused a surprise by offering the T28s. This phone featured a keypad that could be hidden thanks to a plastic flap that opened with a release button.

The Nokia 3310 is also a cult phone. It was marketed in the 2000s and was widely appreciated for its compactness, solidity, and interchangeable shells.

In 2002, LG launched the LG Chocolate KG800. This sliding mobile phone, which reveals its alphanumeric keyboard under its screen, has attracted a very wide audience, thanks in particular to its large screen, the integration of a digital photo sensor and its ability to play music tracks in MP3 format.

A year later, Motorola introduced the Razr V3 clamshell phone, which is also equipped with a camera and an audio player, but is extremely compact, especially when folded.

In 2007 Nokia released the N95. This phone uses the principle of sliding its upper part, composed of the screen and the directional cross, to reveal its alphanumeric keyboard. It is equipped with a photo sensor and offers many games. That year Apple also presented its first iPhone, a revolution at the time because it was a device that offered a large touchscreen (3.5 inches) instead of the keyboard. . It works thanks to an operating system, iOS, which allows you to install applications.

One to two years later, it’s the race for the best cell phone photo. The manufacturers then began a merciless battle for the photo performance of their cameras, which is still relevant today.
Launched in February 2019, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is the first folding smartphone but has some youthful problems with its screen, finally appearing a few months later for just over €2000. Since then, several brands have offered similar or clamshell models, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Flip.

At the moment we’re talking a lot about John Wick 4 and its many action scenes, including one particularly impressive car stunt. Almost 20 years to the day, it was another car sequence that made headlines.

Millions of euros for a few minutes

When Matrix Reloaded is released in France on May 15, 2023, critics blow hot and cold. For Télérama, the Wachowski sisters’ film “shoots blanks,” while Chronic’art conjures up a body of work that is “far superior to traditional blockbusters.” Nevertheless, there is one sequence that has convinced (almost) everyone: that of the Autobahn. In this scene, Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) are being pursued down a highway by the twins and agents. This sequence cost the production 2.3 million euros to set up. It required destroying 300 cars and building a freeway for filming. only that !

A complicated shoot

The actors have previously explained how difficult the sequence was to shoot and that the production hired “the best stuntmen in the world” to prevent accidents during filming. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Carrie-Anne Moss gave details of her stress during filming. “A passenger’s life depended on my ability to be flawless and perfect, knowing that if I allowed my mind a moment of doubt, I could hurt another person. And that’s how I went through the whole shoot… it was exhausting to think about having to keep him alive,” she said. Study results show that T-Rex’s sharp teeth were covered by lips

What if “Jurassic Park” and most toy companies that feature the fanged tyrannosaur Rex were wrong? These famous dinosaurs most likely had lips covering their teeth, according to a study published Thursday.

“Animals like T-Rex, theropod dinosaurs, most likely had some kind of lip, soft tissue covering their mouth to protect their teeth,” Thomas Cullen, one of the authors of this study, told AFP Science magazine.

“This is a departure from many previous hypotheses that said they looked more like crocodiles, with teeth visible with their mouths closed and no lips,” adds this university professor of paleobiology from Auburn, Alabama, in the southern United States .

If the question isn’t fully resolved, the researchers studied a group of theropod dinosaurs from multiple museums to arrive at this new conclusion.

For example, they compared the wear and tear on the enamel of dinosaurs and crocodiles, the living animals closest to these theropods.

Tooth enamel “needs to stay hydrated to stay healthy,” says Cullen. “If it’s exposed to air for too long, it becomes friable and more likely to crack or get sick.”

According to the paleobiologist, the enamel on the outer part of the teeth of living crocodiles wears away faster than the inner part because they don’t have lips.

“When we looked at the enamel thickness on the inside and outside of the teeth of large tyrannosaurs, they didn’t show that kind of configuration like a crocodile,” he continues.

“They present an animal-like model with lips,” says Thomas Cullen. “The thickness of their enamel is the same on the outside and inside.”

The researchers also wanted to know if the T-Rex’s teeth might have simply been too big for its mouth, and compared them to many modern lipped lizards.

“Some monitor lizards have absolutely huge teeth today,” Cullen said. “It seems almost unbelievable that these teeth could be completely covered by lips, and yet they are.”

“And we discovered that (…) this scale ratio is almost identical for theropod dinosaurs”.

What implications for the representation of these famous predators in popular culture?

While Thomas Cullen acknowledges that the Jurassic Park movies managed to “stick to what was known about dinosaurs at the time,” he says attempts to “faithfully” portray theropods have “since completely derailed.”

The company touts adding ads to the AI-powered chatbot to drive more traffic and value for publishers from the new Bing. One way Microsoft wants to achieve this goal is by driving the future of advertising.Microsoft is exploring the idea of putting ads on Bing

In a blog post, Microsoft tries to justify this decision and mitigate the impact of advertising on Bing Chat by explaining its vision for the evolution of the internet ecosystem. The company explains: The internet works through an important ecosystem that starts with publishers, who create high-quality content that drives traffic and interest of the people who consume that content, and finally advertisers, who bring people in a targeted and high-quality environment want to achieve. Overall, this dynamic has worked well, as publishers are paid for their content through advertising, allowing people to access content for free.

The article lays the groundwork for what’s to come: search engines have played a role in helping people find the content they want, but as discussed above, the new Bing is helping people’s search needs with new features like Better meet chat, replies and content creation. These new experiments have raised questions about what this could mean for content publishers in terms of traffic.

The first works have already started, with Microsoft essentially testing : based on the data we collected during the preview, we are increasing traffic from all types of users. We’ve brought more people to Bing/Edge for new scenarios like chat and are seeing an increase in usage. Next, we implemented unique ways to drive traffic to editors, including quotes in the body of chat replies linking to sources, as well as quotes below chat results to “learn more” with links to additional sources.

Microsoft emphasizes that its main goals are to increase traffic and revenue for publishers in this new world of search, then shares some of the ideas it is exploring as part of developing advertising models:

  • An enhanced hover experience where hovering over a publisher’s link reveals more links from that publisher, giving the user more opportunities to engage and driving more traffic to the publisher’s site.
  • For our Microsoft Start partners, placing a detailed label with Microsoft Start-licensed content next to the chat response helps increase user engagement with the content on Microsoft Start, where we share advertising revenue with the partner. We’re also exploring the possibility of placing ads in the chat experience to share ad revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response.
