Virtually flawless image quality

The build quality of the 55QN700B model is there. It relies on an almost borderless minimalist design in order not to impair the image transmitted from the screen. Its 55-inch panel is very pleasing to the eye, especially since it combines Mini-LED backlighting and QLED technology for greater contrast and brightness. Quantum Matrix technology is used to bring out details in both dark scenes and brighter passages. Basically better backlight management.

Of course, its main interest lies in its 8K resolution (7680 x 4320 pixels). Of course, if suitable content is still scarce, it is still possible to already enjoy an excellent level of detail and amazing image quality. The Quantum 8K processor will allow 4K images to be upscaled to 8K. This 8K TV supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG formats. Samsung follows suit, you have to do without the still missing Dolby Vision. On the sound side, additional speakers appear and reproduce the Dolby Atmos effect.

A TV that ticks all the boxes

In addition to film lovers, Samsung also wants to satisfy gamers with its QN700B series. With the presence of HDMI 2.1 connectors, the TV is able to authentically reproduce the performance of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles. You can enjoy your games in 4K with a refresh rate of 120 frames per second and even in 8K at 60 FPS. Thanks to ALLM mode, variable refresh rate (VRR) and G-Sync and AMD FreeSync technology, your gameplay will be smooth with sharper images, no lag and no screen tearing.

Who says Samsung says TizenOS and here the model enjoys the 2022 version whose update is more important than in recent years. Play, stream and create with the new Asus ROG Strix G16 and G18 – Les Numériques

You will never run out of energy again. This year, Asus renewed its ROG lineup with two new laptops: the ROG Strix G16 and the ROG Strix G18. Machines with larger screens, integrated into equally compact frames and equipped with the latest Nvidia graphics cards (GPUs). Whether you are a gamer or a creative, you will love these Asus computers.

You will see great things

A large screen for gaming or even work is very valuable. With notebooks, however, this is often at the expense of practicality … except for Asus. With its 2023 models of the ROG Strix, the Taiwanese manufacturer has managed to accommodate larger screens than the previous generation in the same housing. Instead of 15-inch and 17-inch panels, the G16 and G18 benefit from 16-inch (40.4 cm screen diagonal) and 18-inch (46 cm screen diagonal) screens.

This development is not trivial. Thanks to these modern screens, gamers benefit from significantly better visual comfort every day. ROG Strix G16’s has a 165 Hertz (Hz) refresh rate and just 3ms latency for an ultra-smooth gaming experience, which is crucial online to flush out your opponents first. The 16/10 format of the FHD+ screen (resolution of 1,920 dots by 1,200) is also interesting for aspiring editors, as it allows you to better see your timeline in length or even display the equivalent of 2 A4 sheets side by side.

The Asus ROG G16 is a machine with a sober design.

Asus

Want a bigger screen? The G18 features an 18-inch Nebula Display QHD panel (2,560 dot by 1,600 resolution). And this time, it can reach the 240Hz refresh rate, which is huge. The latency is always 3ms for always exemplary in-game responsiveness Note that this PC is compatible with Dolby Vision and Adaptive-Sync.

Uncompromising power

These screens would be nothing if not properly utilized by Nvidia’s state-of-the-art graphics cards (GPUs). For its part, the entry-level Asus ROG Strix G16 comes with a GeForce RTX 4050, and the ROG Strix G18 comes with a GeForce RTX 4070. Prudent choices to take advantage of the latest innovations in the best conditions.

In fact, the 40 series graphics cards benefit from the new Ada Lovelale architecture that uses Deep Learning Super Sampling 3 (DLSS) technology. Supported by artificial intelligence (AI), it enables high-quality graphics rendering and improves game fluency. The third generation of DLSS notably uses the Optical Flow Accelerator: an optical flow accelerator that allows the AI to build additional images without creating visual aberration and therefore to gain in fluidity. Profits would be four times higher, according to Nvidia.

The Ada Lovelale architecture also accelerates ray tracing, a technology that can simulate light and add depth to shadows. These contributions make the gaming experience even more immersive, especially in adventure games or RPGs like Cyber Punk 2077.

These functions not only require powerful components, like the RTX 40 series graphics cards of the Asus ROG Strix G16 and G18, but also a lot of energy. Nvidia has therefore developed Max-Q, a series of AI-based technologies to optimize processor and graphics card performance.. So much so that the autonomy of laptops is doubled and the machines become de facto quieter.

Everyone has their own gaming PC

The Asus ROG Strix G16 and G18 are the new gaming PCs of the moment. The ROG G16 has a smaller 16-inch (40.4 cm) screen, a modest Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU (on the entry-level version), and therefore at a more affordable price. The ROG G18 is a more powerful and comfortable alternative for lovers of large screens (18 inches, which corresponds to 46 cm screen diagonal). Asus has something for every taste and every need.

Xiaomi Oppo or Vivo switching from one smartphone to another

Xiaomi, Oppo or Vivo: switching from one smartphone to another becomes very easy … but only in China – Frandroid

The three Chinese smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have announced that they have agreed to make it easier to transfer data between their models when changing smartphones. But at the moment only the Chinese market is affected.

The three Chinese giants preferred to work together to simplify users’ lives. On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, the manufacturers Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi announced via their respective Weibo social media accounts that they had formed an alliance make it easier for their Chinese users to transfer their app data when changing smartphones. An ad spotted by the specialized website Android Police.

If today it is already possible to easily move certain information, such as photos or contacts, from one phone to another, especially if they are synchronized with a Google account, it remains difficult to move data from third-party applications without an unofficial backup to iterate tool. It would therefore now be easier to switch smartphones between these three brands … even if there is a problem.

Just update an app

Since the three manufacturers’ announcements were made through their Weibo accounts for their Android interfaces (MIUI for Xiaomi, ColorsOS for Oppo and OriginiOS for Vivo), we can conclude that the three interfaces already take this tool into account. Each of the manufacturers also specifies that it will be necessary to upgrade its existing data transfer application to take advantage of this improved data transfer.

Once started, “you don’t have to worry about your chat history when you switch phones,” promises Xiaomi. A Weibo user also shared screenshots of this new process: on one of these applications we see an option to activate to download the gigabytes of Chinese instant messengers WeChat and QQ.

Problem: According to Android Police, “the migration tool is exclusive to smartphones in China and will not be launched in international markets”. So don’t expect to use this system in France. But as the news site notes, Chinese users still do not have access to Google services and cloud storage backup system. At least we can be happy for them.

An approach that we are hoping for here

However, we hope that other manufacturers will follow this trend in western countries, where the transfer of data from third-party applications is not always well supported.

By making this choice, manufacturers try to make it harder to leave their ecosystem in order to keep their customers. Conversely, by facilitating this transfer to their products, they could persuade users of competing brands to switch to them.

After the A’s, make way for the M’s: Samsung unveils the Galaxy M54, cousin of the A54

A week after unveiling the newcomers to the Galaxy A range, Samsung is giving it a layer. The company’s Palestinian website has just lifted the veil on a new model in the Galaxy M family, the M54. A version that looks very similar to the Galaxy A54.

If it is very similar to the new mid-range from South Korea, it does not share the entire technical sheet. Thus, the Galaxy M54 has a 6.7-inch Super Amoled panel with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Inside, it is powered by an Exynos 1380 processor, coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory is coupled storage. A 6000 mAh battery is assigned to it, but the charging capacity is not specified. We can assume that it will rely on 25W fast charging.

On the photo side, the smartphone offers a main module of 108 megapixels, which is its peculiarity. Although this resolution is significantly higher than the 50 megapixels offered by the Galaxy A54, its ultra-wide-angle module is content with 8 megapixels instead of the 12 Mpx of the Galaxy A54. Of course, higher resolution doesn’t rhyme with better quality, but it will be interesting to compare the two models on this point.

Otherwise, the Galaxy M54 runs on Android 13 and OneUI 5.1. The body is made of plastic, unlike the A54, which has a glass back like the Galaxy S range flagships. A release date isn’t available if the latter is finally confirmed. But like the previous models in the M family, it’s not out of the question that we’ll see the M54 ending up subtly on the Samsung page or directly on Amazon.

Huawei Mate X3 official: a foldable smartphone with the weight of a Galaxy S23 Ultra – Frandroid

Huawei has formalized its Huawei Mate X3 inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold 4. As always with the Chinese manufacturer, despite the ultra-premium positioning of the phone, it will have to do with 4G and the absence of Google services.

Huawei presented its new flagships to the Chinese public. In addition to the P60 and P60 Pro, a new folding smartphone appears, the Huawei Mate X3.

In book format or fold, this is the third attempt by the manufacturer in this area after a Mate X in 2019 and a Mate X2 in 2021.

Ultra light and ultra thin

Huawei has really refined the design of this third version, offering a phone whose thickness, 5.3mm when unfolded, and weight (239g) will draw everyone’s attention. It’s a tiny gram lighter than an iPhone 14 Pro Max and barely weighs more than a Galaxy S23 Ultra at 234 grams. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and its 263 grams seem far away.

1679579903 2 Huawei Mate X3 official a foldable smartphone with the weightSource: Huawei

Another important innovation is the introduction of IPX8 certification. As much as all Chinese manufacturers starting folding have beaten Samsung in the teardrop hinge game, none of them have managed to combine this with a waterproof phone so far. Huawei is doing this, giving priority to Samsung, which is rumored to be moving to a teardrop hinge on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 while retaining certification.

Top notch features… or almost

For the rest of the spec sheet, Huawei clearly hasn’t strayed and this is undoubtedly a quality, sleek and stylish phone. 7.85 inch (2496 × 2224) 120 Hz LTPO internal display, 6.4 inch external display, FHD+ and LTPO 120 Hz also, 426 ppi for both.

Also, and this has been announced, the Huawei Mate X3 is the first clamshell phone with built-in satellite communications. It actually supports sending and receiving messages this way.

A small, surprising detail that Huawei has now gotten used to: the phone contains a slightly outdated SoC. It’s a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 which also turns out to be bereft of 5G services. This is one of the consequences of the American embargo. Remember that for the same reason, when the folding comes out in France, Google services will certainly no longer be available.

Here is the image structure:

  • 50 megapixel camera (aperture F1.8);
  • 13-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera (aperture F2.2);
  • Periscopic 12-megapixel telephoto lens (aperture F3.4, OIS).

Equipped with a 4800mAh battery, it supports 66W charging. It also integrates Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The fingerprint reader is on the side.

Prices and Availability

The Huawei Mate X3 costs 12,999 yuan, or 1,750 euros excluding taxes. If it comes out in France, which is not guaranteed, it should sell for a few hundred euros more.

Huawei launches its Watch Ultimate in France to face the Apple Watch Ultra – Frandroid

Huawei presented its new Huawei Watch Ultimate, a connected watch that acts as a dive computer and will arrive in France in April.

The announcement was expected. On the occasion of the launch of its new Huawei P60 range in China, the Chinese manufacturer has also lifted the veil on some accessories. This is particularly true of its new open-back headphones, the Huawei FreeBuds 5, but also its new high-end connected watch, the Huawei Watch Ultimate.

Like the Apple Watch Ultra, the Huawei Watch Ultimate is also aimed at the very high-end segment. And like its American competitor, it relies primarily on advanced extreme sports functions. The Huawei Watch Ultra not only includes the classic functions you would expect from a connected watch, but also dive computer functions.

Features specific to diving

As well as the two buttons on the right, classic for a Huawei watch, it also benefits from a button on the left that acts as a shortcut for dive mode. In detail, this mode allows you to enjoy three types of dives: free diving, technical diving or recreational diving.

In particular, the watch will be able to estimate the user’s depth, allow a dive time to be set, warn the user of the duration or depth, display reminders and take into account the different decompression stops required depending on the time spent underwater are and the depth.

The Huawei Watch UltimateThe Huawei Watch Ultimate // Source: Huawei

To enable these diving features, Huawei claims to have used a zirconium case, which it claims is more resistant than titanium, particularly to corrosion. The watch is also 10 ATM certified for a theoretical dive of up to 100 meters.

Around the 1.5-inch LTPO circular Amoled screen, Huawei has also incorporated a fixed ceramic bezel that differs by version – with compass information for the black model and deco time markers for the blue version.

Advanced sports functions

The Huawei Watch Ultimate also benefits from more classic features for a connected watch. In particular, we find position tracking through different GNSS constellations (GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, Glonass, QZSS) with dual-frequency compatibility, heart rate and blood oxygen tracking, a reverse navigation function for returning to your starting point on a trail or hike – but without mapping – and even an orange activity data display to stay discreet in the middle of the night.

In addition, like previous Huawei watches, the Watch Ultimate allows training data to be exported to Strava, Komoot or Runtastic, as well as the creation of training programs or the customization of training views, as with classic sports watches.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate has a battery that, according to the company, allows an autonomy of up to 14 days with normal use and 8 days with more intensive use. It also includes an electrocardiogram function – available from launch in France – as well as a microphone and speaker to answer a call directly from the watch. Note, however, that the number of Huawei watch applications available for download is limited to say the least and that replies to received messages can only be made with pre-recorded messages from the watch.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is already available in China. It will be available in France from April 3 in two versions, both with a 46mm case. The black version comes with a flexible HNBR strap, priced at €749.99, while the blue model comes with a metal bracelet, priced at €899.99.

Mark Zuckerberg’s company hasn’t given up hope of making the desktop version of WhatsApp a big player in the conferencing software market.

News: Meta launches a new version of the WhatsApp application for Windows. This version, which is now available for download, enables, among other things, video calls with up to 8 people and voice calls with up to 32 participants.

  • The new version is only available for Windows for the time being. An improved version of the app for Android tablets is currently in beta and WhatsApp also plans to improve the Mac version, but the latter is still in the early stages of beta testing.

The detail : Whether video or voice, calls on the PC version of WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post.

Note : WhatsApp promises on its blog that these limits will increase over time “to help you stay in touch with loved ones or colleagues.”

  • A promise reminiscent of Meta’s attempts to dethrone video conferencing apps that exploded during the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Back then, Meta was mostly focused on Messenger and WhatsApp’s mobile app.
  • The new video and voice calling features announced today in the desktop version of the messaging app will certainly have a limited impact once normal life resumes.

Parallel to : WhatsApp also said groups are getting improvements.

  • Administrators have new controls for managing groups, including privacy. Now they can decide who can join a group.
  • Users can also find out what groups they have in common with other people just by going to their profile.
