Last Wednesday (18), three artists were found dead in an apartment in Los Angeles, USA. It is suspected that the three were victims of an overdose of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid painkiller.
The victims were José Luis Vasquez, 44, singer and composer of the Soft Moon Project; John Juan Mendez, 46, DJ known as Silent Servant; and Simone Ling, 43 years old, fashion consultant and content producer.
Vasquez had gone to the home of Mendez and Ling, who were married, and spent a long time not responding to his wife Marion's phone messages. Vasquez's wife then called the police.
When the police arrived at the apartment, they found the three lifeless bodies. Items related to drug use were found at the crime scene.
Vasquez was a prominent musician on the rock scene in the USA. He maintained a solo project called Soft Moon and was notable for partnerships with bands such as Depeche Mode, Interpol and Mogwai.
Mendez was a famous DJ in the Los Angeles techno scene. He was originally from Guatemala and had lived in the United States since he was two years old.
Ling worked as a fashion consultant and content producer. She specialized in creating avantgarde clothing that challenged beauty norms and gender expression.
The deaths of the three artists caused an uproar in the music scene. Police are still investigating the circumstances of the deaths.
