Who is the 7yearold designer boy whose clothes are coveted even by Hollywood stars?
A Paris Fashion Week runs until Tuesday (5) and closes the calendar of the most important fashion shows in the fashion world. This is where the inspiration comes for the clothes that will hit stores in the next few months and also for new designers.
The fashion season began in February in New York, but this year one young talent couldn't be there. Max Alexander She has a long waiting list for her dresses, which are coveted even by Hollywood stars (See below for more information). The reason for your absence? He wasn't allowed to miss any exams at school.
He's only 7 years old, he's still learning to write, but he's been using the sewing machine like a pro since he was 4 years old. Max creates and sews everything himself in the attic converted into a studio in his Los Angeles home.
Sherri, Max's mother, says it all started out of nowhere:
“In the middle of the pandemic, he turned around during a dinner and said, 'I'm a seamstress.' I need a pacifier. He was very serious.
With everyone stuck at home, he decided to support their interest. He made a mannequin out of cardboard and gave her some ribbons he had at home.
“And he began to make a dress. It was amazing. I found more fabric and said, 'Can you make another one so I can see it?'”
For Max, everything is a source of inspiration and imagination. Any material in his hands becomes fashion.
“I made this dress for when someone goes into the water because people in the pool wear really boring clothes. “This other one is for when the bride just got married and wants to go to the party,” says the boy.
Orders coveted by Hollywood stars
“When I started publishing the pieces he sewed, orders started coming in,” says Max's mother. His creations soon went viral, with models, samples and even a fashion show.
“One day I received a message from Sharon Stone asking, 'How do I get one of his jackets?' “He has no idea who Sharon Stone is, but she was really cool,” she says.
The pieces vary in price and his mother explains that everything he earns is divided into four parts. One is donated, the other is used to purchase additional fabrics. And he has to invest the rest and save it.
Wings are his favorite accessories: on the shoulder, on the back and on the clothes themselves, which he makes himself.
“I don't like wearing clothes made by other people. It’s strange,” says Max.
