Big price increases are also imminent for boating holidays this year. Still, the boating season will be strong, according to one of the Mediterranean’s biggest charter providers, Styrian Pitter Yachting.

Online since today, 7:35 am

Klaus Pitter, from the Hartberg charter company of the same name, was also present at the boat show in Düsseldorf. Your outlook for next sailing season: it will be more expensive.

Up to ten percent increase

“We assume that prices will have to go up by seven to ten percent. This actually corresponds to inflation on average. It’s also very clear to us that you can’t pass on all price increases as they are one-to-one to the customer,” says Pitter.

In some cases, price increases can exceed ten percent – for example, in high season in Croatia’s popular charter area. In absolute terms, this is several hundred euros – depending on the type of boat and the length of the vacation. However, demand for boat trips is unabated, according to Pitter: “We assume it will be 15-20% more this season.”

From 300,000 euros

Pitter is one of the largest charter operators in the Mediterranean. 520 boats can be rented through the Estíria company, and the fleet is increasing, according to the head of the company. Private individuals buy the yachts and use them for a few weeks a year, the rest of the time they are chartered to recoup the purchase price.

When asked why you should buy a boat in times of high inflation, Pittner said, “I had a customer today who said, In the old days, you planned. When I retire I will sail more, I will spend more time on the boat. He said time is up. If I don’t do this now, who knows what will happen ten years from now. I still can I still want Is it still possible?”

Klaus Pitter added that the savings for the new boat would not be worth more. You need to have around 300,000 euros on hand for the dream of your own boat. Prices rose not only for charters, but also for purchases.

Why do I like soccer so much? Why does bouncing a ball obsess me to the point of insanity? Why am I fascinated by the colors of the shirts, the anthems on the PA system, the roar of the cheering fans? Why does the sound make me tingle when the boot hits the leather?

I often stop to think and try to answer these questions, but I can’t formulate an answer. So I remember. I remember and see myself at the age of ten leaning out the back window of Aitite’s car, my maternal grandfather, and climbing the hill of Artxanda, a privileged vantage point from which one can see all of Bilbao. It’s four o’clock on a winter afternoon. We have just eaten as a family and Aitite has offered my cousin and I to go with him to San Mamés, whose searchlights are already delimiting the sacred space where the ball will be rolling an hour later. We watch in fascination from above. San Mamés is a flash of light in the gray and dark city. A Sunday miracle. On the radio, the radios of the remaining stadiums open, reminding us that in all cities at the same time the same scene is repeated, with streams of fans making pilgrimages to their respective temples in search of the goal.

In San Mamés we were greeted by the murmur of the crowd, the smell of wet grass and cigar smoke. In the stands, listening to my parents talk, I learned that the supporter is a suffering being, that he sees happiness as something extraordinary and that expecting victory before the ball rolls is bad luck. Crammed into our long seats, thousands of us were one for ninety minutes plus the interval, in a ceremony that ended when the referee blew three whistle and gestured with both hands at the dressing room tunnel. On the way back, from the top of Artxanda, I went back to look for San Mamés but the lights were off, now everything was back to normal, dark.

When I try to understand why I love football so much, I remember those moments. I think every time I walked into the stadium I longed to feel what I felt then: to be part of a whole. American writer Bill Buford learned the value of football as a show while watching a match between Cambridge and Millwall in the 89/90 FA Cup that ended in a goalless draw and was decided by an own goal after a devastating error in extra time a guest defender.

At the ‘small and soulless’ Abbey Stadium, Buford, desperate to understand the reasons behind England’s passion for the ball, had an epiphany. It had nothing to do with aesthetics. He understood that the value of football rests on two pillars: the improbability of the goal and the stadium experience. The grandstands, he wrote, “offer the crowd experience […]more intense than ever before in life. For him, a Louisiana native born into the world’s most individualistic society, football meant community.

Football executives seem obsessed with engaging young people through hashtags, media and engagement, forgetting that the true essence of this sport is personal community. For the British working class, football is their opera and stadiums are their museums. Four o’clock in the afternoon on a Saturday is still a sacred moment there. What do your second, third and fourth division teams have to fill the stands with life? They are still a meeting place. What do their stadiums have for their fans that the megaclubs don’t? Oh, it’s a no-brainer: geographic proximity.

Reasonable opening hours and prices. That will keep real football alive and inspire young people. How many games can a ten-year-old go to the stadium with his father today, where games are so often relegated to the underground of the night? The connection with the grandstands is broken, nothing remains.

On Sunday, the 81-year-old businesswoman, writer and television personality shared a close-up of her face as she reclined on a sink at a salon and had her hair washed.

The lifestyle expert proudly boasts that the image is all natural, not a replica, which she followed up with a series of similar selfies showing off her youthful looks at the same salon.

In the first post, which approaches her complexion, Stewart appears to be wearing minimal makeup, with her hair doused in water and shampoo.

‘Laying in @FredericFekkai’s shampoo area, the light was perfect for a new selfie!!!’ She started in the caption. ‘Absolutely no re-imaging!!! Nice looking skin after a mostly dry January and Pilates @bedfordpilates every other day. By re-imaging I mean no filtering of my selfie!’

A few hours later, the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia founder went back to Instagram and shared three more photos taken in the salon.

“These are the other three selfies I took. My expression was better in the first one but my skin looks great in all of them,” she boasted in the caption, adding, “Unfiltered. No facelift. Great derms all my life.

She concluded, “Currently, Dr. Daniel Belkin and Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali a great diet. Great exercise and did I mention @mariobadescu has been doing amazing facials for the past forty years!

“I’m your biggest fan Martha, but seriously, you have a top notch surgeon and a top notch skincare routine. It’s okay, but the rest of us the general public can’t do that, so please think of us, the general public, while we get our hundreds of dollars of hair care done and showing off. please just be real I still love you,” wrote another.

In keeping with critics who called her out for doing something to her face, one commenter kept it simple, writing, “Cosmetic surgery and injections look amazing!” and another followed suit, declaring, “Absolutely no re- imaging please Please be honest, truthful and genuine.’

There seemed to be an endless number of people who just didn’t believe in the authenticity of Stewart’s “no filers” claim. No facelift.’

“Lol LOVE HER but this is so misleading as she has done tons of work and pays too much money for skincare. She looks fabulous but let’s not generalize she looks natural lol,” shared another follower.

“Do better, Martha. Our young girls deserve more from us!’ wrote another woman. “They set the expectations and examples of what women should look like as they get older. This is both dangerous and harmful to our youth. That’s not a natural beauty at 81 years old. Grow up! It’s oddly disturbing at your age to portray that. Women stop objectifying themselves and making sexy lips and faces because they think it’s normal. This behavior is for the bedroom, not for social media.”
