And Bruno Tonioli seems to be enjoying his new role as he fooled around at the London Palladium after Sunday’s auditions.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge, 67, pressed his face against the theatre’s glass door.

He made a series of goofy and hilarious faces as he tried to open the door to get outside.

Bruno wore a white shirt that he left partially open, a black blazer and matching trousers.

As he walked outside, he wrapped himself warm in a black faux fur coat and wore a necklace.

“Then I arrived in London on January 9 and my agent got a call from ITV and I had no idea what it was about. The agent said, “Oh, it’s something very big,” and I thought, “That’s good.” Then I had a meeting with ITV on January 13th and I thought it was great, that’s fantastic.

“I’ve known Simon for ages, I know the show is right up my alley. There were no long negotiations, I just said: “Yes, I want to do that.” It happened so quickly that I have practically nothing to wear. I have to go shopping next week when I’m in Manchester, I have to make Simon pay.’

Filming for the show began on Tuesday. Bruno was drafted in to replace David Walliams, who quit after 10 years after he was accused of making derogatory remarks about some candidates who were recorded by a microphone.

Bruno said: “David was the first person to text me and a fantastic bottle of wine. He’s a very good friend.’

Referring to the money – which is said to have sparked protests from fellow judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon – he said: “It’s very vulgar to talk about money, but I definitely don’t understand what was reported.”

It is said that Amanda and Alesha had raises to increase their pay over his. Bruno said: “I don’t know what the girls get but good for them, they deserve everything. Of course, there is no frostiness with the girls. who is frosty We laughed.

“It’s working with a group of buddies. I’ve known Alesha since Mis-teeq and then of course since she was on Strictly. I’ve known Amanda since we met at a little party for Simon’s 50th. We all enjoy each other and respect each other.”

They later got together for drinks every week on CBS grounds – Bruno was filming Dancing with the Star and Simon was filming American Idol.

Bruno said he doesn’t know how long he wants to be on the BGT panel but added: “It’s the biggest show on British television now that I’m here. I mean it that way. Oh, Simon will hate that I said that.

“I have nothing bad to say about Strictly, it has changed my life. It’s very different and it’s a very different way of judging.’
