A devastating fire broke out in an apartment building Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), near Lyon, in the early hours of December 16th. According to Le Monde, which refers to a press release from the prefecture, the preliminary figure is ten dead, including five children.

the interior minister, Gerald DarmaninHe announced during a press conference that the deceased minors were between 3 and 15 years old. The prefecture also said four people are in serious condition, while another ten have minor injuries.
The reasons
It is currently unclear what started the fire, which was extinguished by 170 firefighters. According to some witnesses, the flames erupted from the ground floor and then spread to the upper floors.
