To celebrate Children’s Day, we present you a list of 15 movies that you can enjoy and watch with the kids on the weekend. Lego Friends: The Next Chapter
Where to see: The Netflix group animation “Lego Friends,” released in 2023, shows how the first day of school can be a little uncomfortable for children. But in Lego Friends: The Next Chapter, this is the day when new friendships are made. The group of children get to know each other and, amid great confusion, prepare a delicious cake for the school’s homecoming party.

Where to see: Coming to Disney+ in 2021, Encanto tells the story of Mirabel, a young Colombian woman who must deal with the frustration of being the only one in her family without magical powers. Mirabel is part of the Madrigais, an extraordinary family that lives hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charming place… Charming. Encanto’s magic gave all the children in the family a unique gift a gift. Well, all the children except Mirabel. But she could soon be the Madrigals’ last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding Encanto is now in danger. The film, directed by Jared Bush (Moana), Byron Howard (Zootopia) and Charise Castro Smith (Raya and the Last Dragon), is a Disney production and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film.
Minions 2: The Rise of Gru
Where to see: Prime Video is a sequel to the 2015 film. The plot of this 2022 feature film follows a now 12yearold Gru. Gru dreams of becoming a villain as bad as his Sinister Six idols, and plans to join the group. However, when he finally gets an interview, everything goes wrong. To make matters worse, he steals from the group and becomes their mortal enemy. As a fugitive, Gru turns to a very unlikely source for help: the former leader of the Sinister Six, who has been released. Little by little, young Gru realizes that even villains need friends. Another fun adventure full of weird Minions scenes.
from the inside to the outside
Where to see: Inside Out, winner of the Oscar for Best Animated Film on Disney+, was the first DisneyPixar production to explore the theme of childhood depression. The 2015 plot takes place almost entirely in the mind of young Riley, who experiences conflicting emotions after moving to another city with her parents. In the girl’s mind we see how this affects five basic emotions: joy, sadness, fear, anger and disgust. In a light but very moving way, the film addresses the importance of dialogue between families, the balance between emotions and caring for mental health since childhood.
Matilda: The Musical
Where to see: Netflix The film “Matilda: The Musical” was released in 2022 and is named after its protagonist, a little girl of just six years old who has a fertile imagination and a sharp mind. Matilda was raised by parents who were so selfcentered that they forgot to enroll her in school. So Matilda is always at home or in the bookstore, where she usually stimulates her imagination. When Matilda discovers that she has magical powers after a series of strange events at home, her father decides to send her to school. The place is controlled with an iron fist by headmistress Agatha Trunchbull (Emma Thompson), but Matilda has the courage to stand up to her and bring about change at the school. Actresses Alisha Weir (Don’t Leave Home), Lashana Lynch (007: No Time to Die) and Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility) play the leading roles.
Two Brothers: A Fantastic Journey
Where to see: Disney+ When two teenage elf brothers, Barley and Ian Lightfoot, discover that their late father left them a magic wand, they attempt to cast a spell that can bring the family patriarch back for 24 hours. But something goes wrong and only the lower half of the father appears. In an attempt to complete the spell by the end of the day, the brothers embark on an adventure to find a new crystal for the staff. In a world populated by elves, trolls, mermaids, centaurs, unicorns, gnomes, and other fantastical creatures, everyone seems to be allowing technology to replace magic. It’s up to Ian and Barley to bring it back. Red: Growing up is a beast
Where to see: The film Red: Growing Up is a Beast, which will be released on Disney+ in 2022, focuses on the life of Mei Lee, a 13yearold girl. The film, directed by Domee Shi (“Inside Out”), is also a Disney production in collaboration with Pixar. The animation brings together the best the studio has to offer, presenting a story that ranges from the most childish charms to the most adult desires. Meilin is the daughter of Chinese immigrants and is constantly pressured and monitored by her mother Ming. Her maturation process is further complicated by a “curse” that weighs on her: every time Meilin feels too strong emotions (positive or negative), she turns into a giant red panda difficult to hide.
Luke
Where to see: Disney+ The film Luca, released in 2021, tells the story of the strong friendship between a human and a disguised sea monster. A delightful journey along the coast of Italy with scenes inspired by the Liguria region, home to destinations such as Cinque Terre and Genoa. Directed by the Italian Enrico Casarosa, Luca shows in detail the landscapes and the wonderful climate that prevails on the Italian Riviera. Luca Paguro is a curious child who, amidst confusion, ice cream, pasta and exciting Vespa rides, learns to live a new reality that is very different from the one he is used to. Because Luca is a sea monster who, when leaving the ocean, discovers that it is possible to take on human form. He always shares adventures in and out of the water with his new best friend Alberto Scorfano and the clever Giulia.
Viva: Life is a party
Where to see: Disney+ A tribute to Mexican culture which values death not as an end but as an inextricable transition into our existence in this touching film about honoring your roots and your family. Viva: Life is a Party tells the story of Miguel, who dreams of becoming a great musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz even though music is forbidden in his family. To prove his talent, Miguel travels to the picturesque land of the dead after a mysterious series of events. On the way he meets the fraudster Hector and together they go on a journey to find out the truth behind Miguel’s family history. The sea creature
Where to see: Netflix’s “The Sea Beast” is an animation that tells the story of little Maisie Brumble, an ambitious and courageous young woman who escapes from the orphanage where she lives to secretly board a monster hunting ship. Yes, day
Where to see: Netflix Based on the children’s book of the same name by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld, “Yes Day” is a comedy for the whole family. In the plot, the couple, consisting of Jennifer Garner (“De Repente 30”) and Edgar Ramirez (“The Undoing”), decide to do absolutely everything their children want in one day, and the result is great. In the vein of films like “Alexander and the Terrible, Terrible, Terrible and Terrible Day,” in which Garner also stars, this Netflix production captivates both children and adults.
Raya and the Last Dragon
Where to see: Disney+ Disney has the power to transport us to other universes and make us forget reality for a few hours Raya and the Last Dragon is one of these successes from the studio. It is set in the fictional world of Kumandra, where dragons and humans lived in harmony until evil forces threatened everyone’s lives and the mystical beings decided to sacrifice themselves for the good of humanity. But years later, evil returns to decimate humanity and there is hope that the last dragon can restore peace. In this context we meet Raya, a warrior princess who is new to the Disney universe and trusts that she can find him. Like any good family film, this story is light, entertaining and inspires a sense of hope in society.

Monica’s walk: ties
Where to see: Prime Video A Turma da Mônica is one of the greatest comic and animation classics in Brazil. Mauricio de Sousa’s creations received their first liveaction adaptation in 2019, with child actors bringing Mônica, Cascão, Cebolinha and Magali to life. The story is based on the comic of the same name by Vitor and Lu Cafaggi (part of the Graphic MSP series) and is about the search for the mysteriously kidnapped dog Floquinho. The film reinforces the values of family and friendship and is perfect for fathers and mothers to watch with their sons and daughters, after all, Maurício’s creations are crossgenerational.
We bought a zoo
Where to see: Disney+ Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson star in this moving true story about a man who decides to give up his big city life and buy a zoo. After losing his wife, Benjamin tries to overcome his grief and help his two children do the same. However, the challenge of getting the zoo back up and running will not be easy. We Bought a Zoo is an easy film that the whole family can watch. He talks about family, dialogue and all that in the midst of the more than 200 animals that now belong to Benjamin. The plot dates back to 2011 and for those who have already seen it, it is worth rewatching with your children.
