15 people were shot dead at a Halloween party in Chicago

At least 15 people were shot and injured at a Halloween party in Chicago on Saturday evening.

Among the six women and nine men injured, two people are said to be in critical condition, reports The Guardian.

According to news outlet ABC 7 Chicago, the incident reportedly occurred after the shooter was denied entry to the party after being involved in a fight.

Authorities were able to arrest a suspect as he fled the scene on foot.

The suspected shooter was in possession of a firearm when he was arrested, Chicago police said.

Authorities have not released any further details about the victims.

This event occurred during a particularly violent weekend in Chicago, when a total of at least 26 people were injured, including one fatally, after being hit by gun projectiles in that city.

There was also a shooting in Tampa on the night of Saturday to Sunday, in which two people died and 18 were injured.
