A 15-year-old boy died in front of his father after being attacked by a great white shark while surfing near Ethel Beach, Australia, on Thursday.
According to 7News, Khai Cowley, a “talented surfer,” was enjoying the waves in the waters of Innes National Park while in Australia with his father. The trip quickly turned into a nightmare when a long white shark attacked his leg.
“I was walking down to the beach when I saw his father on a rock screaming at his son who was swimming towards him,” said local surfer Tim Philip. He estimated the 15-year-old was bitten on the leg by a 13-foot-long shark.
The surfer decided to pick up Khai and bring him back to the beach. “I did what I could,” he said.
Although paramedics did everything they could to save the little boy, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
