It was a not so enjoyable meal.

An angry McDonald’s customer says the fast food offering is no longer affordable for everyday Americans and calls the company’s current prices “crazy.”

“So I understand there’s a labor shortage, I understand there’s wage increases and a bunch of other things,” Idaho resident Christopher Olive began in a viral TikTok clip that recently resurfaced.

“But $16? $16 for a burger, a large fry and a drink? It’s just crazy!” complained the stunned content creator, looking at his detailed receipt from a McDonald’s restaurant in the town of Post Falls.

The video was originally posted on social media last December, but has now gone viral again after McDonald’s recently reported an increase in sales that was directly attributed to a “strategic” increase in menu prices.

In the Olive’s comments section, viewers expressed their frustration with the price of the fast food.

“It’s officially neither comfortable nor affordable,” groaned one.

“The companies know they can hit these prices now so they’ll never come back,” lamented a second, saying the glory days of cheap fast food were over.

However, others left comments defending McDonald’s, telling Olive he ordered a premium burger and could have secured another meal at a lower price.

“Bro ordered the most expensive meal they had ever had and seemed surprised,” a defense attorney explained.

“You sound like the boomers who complained about $5 popcorn,” complained another.

However, Olive isn’t the only one going viral about the cost of McDonald’s meals.

In March, a Connecticut content creator expressed outrage over the fast food joint’s $16.89 Big Mac combo meal in a viral clip.

“Remember those stimulus checks they gave out? I thought you were getting away with the stimulus money, right?” he joked. “They want it back.”

And angry TikTokers aren’t the only ones being harassed over prices. A viral Reddit thread asking, “What’s no longer worth it because it’s gotten so expensive?” shines a light on consumer discontent over fast food costs.

Reddit users complained that chain restaurants have become “ridiculously expensive” recently, with some users claiming that a McDonald’s meal would attract customers just as much as a sit-down restaurant.

Gone are the days when hungry diners could snag a hearty breakfast of two Egg McMuffins for $3, one person recalled, or when the dollar menu was packed with items available for just $1.
