Tammy Sytch, better known as Sunny when she made a splash in the world of professional wrestling with WWE in the mid-90s, will spend many years behind bars.
Sytch, now 50, appeared in court this week and received her sentence after causing the drunk driving death of a 75-year-old man in Florida in 2022.
The verdict: 17 years in prison for the WWE Hall of Famer, followed by eight years of probation when she gets out.
In March 2022, Sytch was driving while impaired and her driver’s license was revoked for similar offenses. She collided with a stationary car, which in turn collided with another stationary vehicle at an intersection.
Julian Lasseter, the driver of one of the vehicles, died shortly afterwards in hospital. The other driver also suffered injuries that required hospitalization.
These weren’t the first deviations for Sytch, as she had already served eight months in prison for drunk driving in 2018. In 2022, a few months before the fatal accident, she was accused of making terroristic threats as well as illegal possession of firearms.
In announcing his sentence, Sytch apologized sincerely to the Lasseter family, who were present in court at the conclusion of the trial.
The words of the defenders led by RJ Larizza are clear.
“The defendant’s impaired driving is terrible,” said a statement after the trial. It was only a matter of time before his dangerous behavior cost the life of an innocent victim. »
