Aisha Dee almost spent her Thursday night sitting on a Sydney beach but instead managed to snag a last-minute invite to the ARIA Awards.

The Bold Type actress, 29, rocked to The Hordern Pavilion at the last minute and looked glamorous in a blue and silver silk ensemble.

Speaking to 9Honey Celebrity on the red carpet, she said she was “on the beach” just hours before when a “bunch of buddies” invited her over.

“I’m here at the last minute. I was at the beach earlier, but I have some buddies here and I thought, “Yeah, I’ll come with you,” she said.

It was the singer’s first time walking the red carpet at the ARIA Awards, but she said she only focused on one thing.

“I keep hearing about fried chicken, it’s somewhere and I’ve literally been looking for it. I feel like this will help me survive,” said the “Saddle Club” star.

Despite Aisha’s excitement over her first experience at the music industry’s night of nights, frustrated viewers took to social media on Thursday night to vent their disappointment at the ceremony.

It was criticized for its “amateur production” and branded “absolute crap”, with many dismissing the event as a “fever dream” which the late Kerry Packer – once the owner of Channel Nine – would certainly have pulled the plug.

“Not sure if #ARIAAwards producers will be getting more gigs anytime soon, what a mess,” wrote one disgruntled viewer.

“Nothing to complain about, but… the #arias show still needs a lot of work – at least from the viewer’s point of view. Not everyone is a born presenter. Maybe less dad jokes and more music next time? Just a thought,” commented another.

The 2022 ARIA Awards were hosted by Natalie Imbruglia, along with G Flip and Ruel, who stepped in after Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi canceled due to a scheduling conflict.
