2022 Masters Odds: Surprise PGA picks, predictions by model seven golf majors hit

The 2022 Masters begins on Thursday and it is not yet known if Tiger Woods will be among those fighting for a green jacket. The five-time champion has aggressively attempted to get back into action aggressively after an in-car injury that left him with significant injuries in February 2021. Woods is 50-1 in the latest 2022 Masters odds for Caesars Sportsbook, but if he decides should you put him in your 2022 Masters bets?

In Wood’s last appearance at Augusta National Golf Club, he finished 38th in the rescheduled 2020 Masters tournament. Should he play, Woods will line up in the 2022 Masters field alongside Jose Maria Olazabal (2000-1), Bernhard Langer (1000-1 ) and Bubba Watson (65-1) as winners of multiple Green Jackets. Before making your own 2022 Masters picks or entering PGA DFS tournaments on sites like FanDuel and DraftKings, be sure to check out the golf predictions and predicted rankings from SportsLine’s trusted computer model.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, it’s upped its best bets by over $8,000 since that point, nailing tournament after tournament.

Among McClure’s best bets at the 2021 Open Championship was Collin Morikawa’s overall win, despite being listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. Additionally, McClure’s model was featured all over Jon Rahm’s (10-1) career-first major championship win at the 2021 US Open. Rahm was two strokes away from the lead going into the weekend, but the model still predicted him as the winner.

The same model also nailed a whopping seven majors over the weekend. Everyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the Masters 2022 field is taking shape, SportsLine has simulated the event 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Head over to SportsLine now for the prospective 2022 Masters standings.

The model’s top predictions for the 2022 Masters

A big surprise awaiting the model at the 2022 Masters: Rory McIlroy, a 20-time PGA Tour champion and one of the top favorites, trips Augusta and lands outside the top 10. The 32-year-old lands at the top of the Ranking at the CJ Cup earlier this season, his 20th PGA Tour win.

McIlroy is a four-time major champion and can close out the career grand slam with a win at Augusta National. However, he failed to snag the coveted green jacket, despite being in the mix on numerous occasions. McIlroy has finished in the top 10 in six of his last eight starts at Augusta, but the pressure to win the green jacket seems to be on him. He’s finished 21st or worse in two of his last three starts at Augusta, which includes a missed cut in 2021. He’s not a strong pick to win everything and there are far better stats in the 2022 Masters Tournament field.

Another surprise: Patrick Cantlay, a 20-1 long-range shot, makes a strong run to the title. It is a destination for anyone looking for a big payday. Cantlay started 2022 hot but will be looking for a comeback after a string of underperforming games at the Masters. Cantlay finished February with a 33rd place finish at the Genesis Invitational before missing the cut at the Players Championship.

Cantlay placed 26th in last month’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event. However, he was at his best at the Worlds Phoenix Open in mid-February, averaging over 3.5 shots per round and finishing second. Cantlay is first in one putt percentage (46.97 percent) and third in overall putt average (1.668). See who else to visit here.

The model also targets four other golfers at odds of 20-1 or more who will make surprise runs. Anyone who bets on those long shots could make it big. You can only see them here.
