It’s hard to believe that almost three years ago, the last “normal” NCAA tournament was played, back in 2019. Across the country, and even in college basketball, a lot has changed. After the Big Dance was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 event was held in a controlled environment with limited attendance.
Finally, finally, the grid is set for the 2022 NCAA Tournament, which should be the perfect reminder of everything that makes March Madness so great. Preliminaries will be played at venues across the country with full attendance allowed and less attention to health and safety protocols.
With Duke coach Mike Krzyszewski in his last NCAA Tournament after missing last season, and Kentucky also back in the Big Dance after a rare bad season, there’s a lot of blue blood power at the top of the bracket. Another great example of this is that Arizona is number one under freshman coach Tommy Lloyd.
There are also some incredible potential Cinderella teams to keep an eye on, like the No. 14 seed Longwood making his first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and those ever-annoying Loyola-Chicago Ramblers who got the No. 10 seed.
