2023 NCAA Women’s Tournament Live: Sweet 16 March Madness Scores, Bracket, Saturday Schedule – CBS Sports

The 2023 Women’s NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 resumes on Saturday, and several celebratory matchups are scheduled.

In the first game of the day, No. 2 Maryland and No. 3 Notre Dame went back and forth for most of three quarters, but the Terrapins retired late. Maryland was able to wear down an understaffed Notre Dame roster for a 76-59 win and the Terps are on their way to the Elite Eight.

No. 1 seed South Carolina was the second team to earn their Elite Eight ticket on Saturday. The Gamecocks methodically smothered the UCLA No. 4, resulting in a decisive 59-43 win, their 41st straight. The South Carolina defense established a clinic against the Bruins, keeping them at just 29.4% off the field. Aliyah Boston was a force to be reckoned with on the boards as she notched 14 rebounds and her team will keep dancing.

The No. 2 seeded UConn Huskies are also in action against the No. 3 seeded Ohio State Buckeyes. The Huskies beat Vermont and Baylor in the first two rounds, but they will face a tougher test against the Buckeyes. However, Ohio State will need to play better than they did in their first two tournament matchups to beat UConn. The Buckeyes struggled for three quarters with No. 14 James Madison and in the second round they only squeaked against No. 6 North Carolina.

The day ends with a rematch between two loaded teams as No. 4 Tennessee meets No. 1 Virginia Tech. On December 4, the Hokies defeated the Lady Vols, 59-56, in the Jimmy V Women’s Classic. The Lady Vols didn’t have Rickea Jackson in this game, but she’s back and made a strong start in March Madness. Virginia Tech star Georgia Amoore has 20+ points in four straight games and she will need another big game to put the Hokies past Tennessee.

Here’s how to get in the mood for all of the Sweet 16 action on Saturday.
