The 2023 NHL offseason seems a bit compressed, with the draft taking place on June 28-29 this year, but the start of free agency is back to the usual July 1 date (after a late start in 2022).
Every general manager in the NHL hopes to acquire game-changing players, whether through free-agent deals or trades.

Connecticut native Jonathan Quick is coming home (almost) as the veteran goaltender has agreed a one-year, $825,000 deal with Rangers.
After goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood joined the Sharks before the draft, he signed a two-year, $4.7 million contract.
After his contract was bought by the Jets this week, veteran forward Blake Wheeler has signed a one-year, $800,000 deal with Rangers (with $300,000 in potential bonuses available).
Forward Lane Pederson, 25, has agreed a two-year, $1.55 million deal with the Oilers.
After the Flyers failed to sign him before the trade deadline, veteran James van Riemsdyk officially has a new team and signs a one-year, $1 million deal with the Bruins.
