The 2023 World Series begins Friday night when the Texas Rangers host the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 1 at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The Rangers ousted the defending champion Houston Astros in ALCS Game 7 on Monday night to win their first pennant since 2011. The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, defeated the Phillies in NLCS Game 7 on Tuesday night to clinch their first World Series berth since 2001.
The 2023 Fall Classic will run through at least October 31 and extend into November unless it is a four-game sweep.
The Rangers have been to the World Series twice (2010 and 2011), but Texas is still looking for its first title in franchise history. The Diamondbacks won the only time they made the World Series in 2001, beating the Yankees in seven games.
While the Rangers have never played in a World Series at Globe Life Field (which opened in 2020), the stadium has hosted the Fall Classic before. MLB used the ballpark to host the neutral-site World Series in 2020 during the COVID-shortened season.

Why the Rangers have home field advantage in the World Series
Unlike previous years, where home field advantage in the World Series was determined by the All-Star Game, we’re back to the regular season balance sheet. This one is simple: The Rangers had 90 wins and the Diamondbacks had 84. No messy tiebreakers.
