25-year-old Israeli Inbar Lieberman is being hailed as a hero for saving Kibbutz Nir Am from Hamas invasion

An Israeli woman has been hailed as a hero after saving Kibbutz Nir Am from Hamas as invading terrorists began to invade.

Inbar Lieberman, 25, the security coordinator for the village near Gaza, led a group of residents to kill more than two dozen advancing terrorists.

Lieberman, who has been part of security in the region since December 2022, heard explosions early Saturday as Hamas launched the unprecedented and deadly attack on Israel, according to Walla News.

She quickly realized that the sounds were different than those she had heard during the usual rocket attacks on the kibbutz and rushed to open the armory and distribute weapons among the 12-member security team.

She placed her kibbutznik force in strategic positions throughout the settlement, setting up ambushes and turning the tables on the advancing troops.

The 25-year-old killed five terrorists herself, while the others claimed the lives of 20 other people within four hours.

Nir Am was turned into an impregnable fortress, while nearby kibbutzim suffered major losses, Walla News reported.

“It was amazing, my husband was part of the preparedness unit that worked to prevent further casualties,” Ilit Paz told Israel Hayom.

“They heard the shots and made contact on their own with other members of the standby unit and with Inbal – and they understood that they were being told to remain on standby.”

“But Inbal made the decision not to wait and have surgery. “In fact, the fact that they did it early prevented dozens of victims.”

Maariv Daily reported that a social media post also praised Lieberman’s heroism and said she deserved the Israel Prize.

“When everything is over, this woman will receive the Israel Prize,” it said.

“The story of their heroism is one that will remain enshrined in Israeli lore for generations.”

“Inbal is the reason there is one kibbutz in the entire area that remains intact – Nir Am.”

Nir Am is one of the few communities that Hamas terrorists attempted to enter but were repelled.

In Ein Habsor, a moshav also near the Gaza Strip, a handful of local defenders fended off larger numbers of armed terrorists, a resident of the moshav, Noam Gotliv, told the Times of Israel.

“What happened to us was part vigilance, part miracle,” Gotliv said of the events in Ein Habsor.

Israel announced on Tuesday the completion of a reinforced security barrier around the Gaza Strip to prevent militants from entering the country.

The 40-mile barrier includes radar systems, maritime sensors and a network of underground sensors to detect militant tunnels.

The existing fence was replaced with a 6.5 meter high “smart fence” with sensors and cameras.

Israel has fought four wars with Hamas since the Islamic militant group seized power in Gaza nearly 15 years ago, most recently in May.

During a war in 2014, Palestinian militants entered a tunnel into Israel and clashed with Israeli troops.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz announced the barrier’s completion after more than three years of construction, saying it creates an “iron wall” between Hamas and residents of southern Israel.

During the fighting in May, Hamas used a sophisticated tunnel system in the Gaza Strip but did not infiltrate any fighters into Israel.

The group fired more than 4,000 rockets at Israel in 11 days, with large volleys occasionally overwhelming Israel’s sophisticated missile defenses.

Israel carried out hundreds of airstrikes during the conflict, destroying several multi-story buildings.

According to the United Nations, the war in Gaza killed over 250 people, including at least 129 civilians, while 13 people died on the Israeli side.

Since Hamas came to power, Israel and Egypt have imposed a crippling blockade on Gaza, severely restricting travel for the territory’s two million Palestinian residents and strangling the economy.

Israel says the closures are necessary to prevent Hamas from expanding its military capabilities, while Palestinians and human rights groups see them as a form of collective punishment.

In 2018 and 2019, Hamas organized violent mass protests along the border to pressure Israel to ease the blockade.

More than 200 Palestinians were killed and thousands injured. An Israeli soldier was killed by a Palestinian sniper.

Human rights groups recently accused Israel of failing to hold its forces accountable for the deaths and serious injuries.

Israel says its forces prevented the mass infiltration of Hamas militants. It said the allegations of misconduct were fully investigated and the soldiers were held accountable.
