A Norwegian cruise ship lost power on Thursday when a “rogue wave” smashed windows on the bridge as it sailed through the North Sea with 266 passengers on board.
According to Portal, the cruise ship Maud en route to England lost its ability to navigate after power went out, the Danish Joint Rescue Coordination Center said.
Strong winds shattered the windows of the ship's bridge and allowed water to pour in.
A “temporary power outage” occurred after Maud was hit by a “rogue wave,” ship owner HK told The Post in a statement.

The ship, which also had 131 crew members, was traveling from Floroe in Norway to Tilbury in the United Kingdom, a center spokesman said.
A spokesman for the Danish Joint Rescue Coordination Center said the “situation was under control” and the ship was being controlled manually from the engine room, although it could not navigate.
Authorities plan to tow the ship abroad to a Danish port around 10:30 p.m. local time.
The cruise company said that “no serious passenger or crew injuries” were reported as a result of the incident and that the ship’s condition was “stable.”
“In line with our strict operational protocols, the crew not only ensured the well-being of everyone on board, but also immediately conducted thorough safety checks and technical assessments,” HX said.
“Further assessments are now being made for further travel. The ship is in direct contact with relevant maritime authorities and shore support teams.”
HX is a unit of the Norwegian Hurtigruten Group.
