Midway through the third period, Kaiden Guhle, shorthanded, attempted to get his team on the scoreboard with a wrist shot.

The visitors scored first in the first period thanks to Matthew Knies, who beat Samuel Montembeault after going around the net.

Fraser Minten, who had already scored the day before, took advantage of a mistake by Nick Suzuki as he left the field and scored his team’s second goal. He accepted the pass from Alex Steeves before putting the puck into the net of the number 35 Bleu-Blanc-Rouge. Nicholas Robertson scored Toronto’s third goal.

The Canadian had some excellent moments, particularly in the first half, but the solidity of goalkeeper Martin Jones in front of the visitors’ goal made the difference as he made a number of superb saves. In particular, the former Philadelphia Flyers did an excellent job of saving Juraj Slafkovsky at left guard after he appeared alone in front of him.

He finished his night of work with 33 saves. Montembeault conceded three goals on 15 shots in two periods. Jakub Dobes played the last 20 minutes for CH.

The Canadian largely had the upper hand in shots on goal with 34 to 22 for Toronto.

David Reinbacher and Emil Heineman stood out with several inspiring performances for the Habs.

The two teams will meet again on Monday evening, this time at the Scotiabank Arena.
