In Finland, the level of traffic fines depends on income – which is now costing the manager dearly.
Radar penalties are often annoying. In some countries, however, they can actually make money. A Finnish business owner was now feeling the effects of this. In the Nordic country, the amount of traffic fines depends on the performance of offenses above 20 km/h. And that must be very generous of the manager.
After being caught going 82 km/h in zone 50, he received a fine of 121,000 euros. According to a report in the local newspaper “Nya Åland”, the “Raser” is Anders Wiklöf, who lives on the Finnish autonomous island of Åland.
Now the 76-year-old has to pay one of the highest radar fines ever imposed in Europe. However, the businessman should be able to afford the 121 thousand euros. More recently, his company generated annual sales of €350 million.
