343 Industries talks about its 2022 roadmap for Halo Infinite, Co-op and Forge for late summer

Almost six months after release, it’s hard to say that Halo Infinite’s content has lived up to expectations. Between the lack of content and the disappointing pace of new features, many gamers were left disappointed. As Season 2 begins, the teams at 343 Industries wanted to reveal their 2022 roadmap for the latest installment in the Halo saga. With an assumed priority: the physical and mental well-being of employees with a balance between private and professional life.

Regular improvements

Outside of the season cycle, 343 intends to make regular improvements to improve the gameplay experience. The studio states that they will be using Drop Pods as new seasons come and during them. The team is aiming for one update per month, with various additions and fixes as needed.

A season 2 will also be renewed, season 3 in November

While the first season has been extended by three months, so will the second season. This will take place from May 3rd, 2022 to November 7th. with a new Battle Pass. In addition to fixes made based on player feedback, it should bring many more new features than the first, with already two new maps and game modes previously unveiled by 343 Industries.

Fractures will also return! The second season will be called Fracture: Entrenched and will unlock brand new armor. The first week of Fracture will take place between May 24th and 30th, 2022.

An improved campaign

If players could explore Halo Zeta’s open world, many of them would have loved to relive certain moments of the adventure. The surprise was total not to see a level selection screen that forces everyone to start the story over from the beginning in order to relive certain missions and collect certain collectibles from the first levels. Good news, the studio wants to bring this feature and is aiming for a release at the end of August.

An essential element was also missing for the story part: cooperation. This makes many players cringe who refuse to play Halo Infinite alone. If it should arrive at the beginning of Season 2, before it’s postponed, the teams at 343 Industries state so Online co-op mode should also arrive at the end of August.

La Forge is coming this year… in Beta!

The Forge is central to the Halo community. This tool allows you to create fully personalized maps using a powerful content editor provided by the game, allowing players to offer elements completely different from the existing ones, sometimes with great success with everyone. This integral part of the experience missed the launch of the game and will be sorely missed by players. If development isn’t over yet, the studio has already conducted several test sessions with a limited number of people. But that will change in the coming months.

Rather than focusing on a regular flight test program, 343 Industries plans to offer its Forge mode in open beta to give as many people access to the tools as possible. As such, this feature will be improved over time with community feedback. Currently, The studio is aiming for The Forge to arrive in this format in September 2022.

And then ?

While Season 3 will be out in November, the studio already has a few things planned. In addition to the classic Season Pass, Halo Infinite includes:

  • Multiple Maps
  • New game modes
  • An unprecedented break
  • narrative events
  • New elements in the sandbox

The Forge will also continue its development in beta mode while The studio is aiming to (finally) introduce a split-screen collaboration this third season.
