Oliver Lipinski is a threeyearold boy full of selfconfidence. So much so that his young age didn’t seem like an obstacle to earning a place on the Fire Department in the City of Parksville, Canada.
The boy was passing by the barracks with his parents when he told them about his interest in the fire service. Luckily, a recruitment campaign was underway.
Courtney and Chris Lipinksi, Oliver’s parents, helped their son create a resume detailing his education, experience and strong interest in firefighting, all based on the information he provided.
Document in hand and wearing a fireman’s uniform, the little boy showed up at the barracks on the last day of the selection process and told Lieutenant Andrew Wiersma that he wanted a job.

Impressed by Oliver’s skills, Wiersma asked him for an interview.
“Oliver is familiar with fire engines and trucks, can list most parts of a ladder fire engine, has basic knowledge of hydraulics, doesn’t play with ‘magic’ because it can cause fires, and recognizes most letters and sounds. The Parksville Fire Department said in a statement.
After a successful interview, the boy got what he wanted: he was placed in the recruit class of 2034 as a junior firefighter.
As part of his training, he toured the barracks and drove along in his favorite truck. He also received a red helmet, teddy bear, cookies, and a certificate recognizing his status as an official junior member.
