4 TB SSD in one graphics card, that’s possible with the Asus GeForce RTX 4060 Ti – Les Numériques

Three months after proving the concept’s feasibility, Asus will release its GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD. The first idea is relatively simple: Why not use the eight PCIe lines that are not used by the RTX 4060 Ti’s GPU to connect an SSD? This means you benefit from an additional M.2 slot, especially in configurations based on Mini-ITX cards, whose 14cm side motherboard only offers a limited number of M.2 slots.

The final version of the graphics card is logically better processed than the prototype from three months ago. A cover attached to the back of the graphics card acts as a heat sink and the usage mode can be selected using a switch.

The manufacturer does not communicate about possible advantages, especially for games that use DirectStorage technology. The latter allows video game textures to be transferred directly from the SSD to video memory without the need for decompression by the processor. In practice, DirectStorage offers great savings in loading time.

The Asus GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Dual SSD is already listed with European resellers. The additional price compared to a classic version is around €90.
