48 hours without news from Alvaro Prieto the young man

The Sevillian Santa Justa train station surveillance camera recording of him exiting the Kansas City Avenue access door at 9:30 a.m. on October 12 are the last images released. They show Álvaro Prieto, an 18-year-old young man from Córdoba who has since disappeared and who the national and local police and the Guardia Civil Traffic Service are working to find.

Prieto had arrived in Seville on Wednesday, October 11th to celebrate with some friends and had a return ticket to Córdoba on the Avant at 7:40 a.m. In fact, at 7:22 a.m. that same day, he wrote a WhatsApp message to his parents with the message: “I’m going to the bus stop.” “He had met a friend who lived in a dormitory in Seville and when they separated, One went to the train station and the other to school,” family circles explain to this newspaper. However, Prieto missed this move. With no battery and no money, he tried to sneak into another convoy that left at 8:55 a.m. for Barcelona but also stopped in Córdoba.

According to official sources, Renfe security forces intercepted him and took him out of the car after they saw him crossing the railway tracks to catch the train. When he tried to return to the platforms shortly afterwards, he was again spotted by station staff and asked to leave the facilities. An hour later, around 10:30 p.m., a woman saw him walking along Kansas City Avenue next to Santa Justa. “He didn’t see anything strange about him,” explains the family’s interlocutor. The witness became aware of him before the alert for his disappearance was raised and gave her statement, which gave her credibility when she found out that he was being searched, the same interlocutor emphasizes.

That same Thursday, the young man’s parents filed a complaint warning of his disappearance in Seville. The National Police, who described the disappearance as “disturbing”, have checked all security cameras around the station, combed the area and called on citizens to cooperate. During this time, Prieto did not make contact with his friends, from whom statements were also taken, confirms the family’s interlocutor. All hypotheses remain open, although pessimism increases as more hours pass without news. Sources close to the investigation confirm to this newspaper that the search will focus on the area around the railway tracks during the day. “The work of the police is excellent,” said David Guzmán, spokesman for SOS Desaparecidos Andalucía, which also published a search notice.

Prieto studies engineering and plays for Córdoba FC’s youth team. “He is methodical, athletic and very focused on his studies,” says Guzmán, based on the family’s descriptions. He is athletically built, 1.80 meters tall and has brown hair. When he went missing, he was wearing beige pants and a green shirt. His family rules out voluntary disappearance, citing as an example the fact that he tried to return home. They also don’t know that he had any problems with anyone.
