Several San Francisco 49ers players complained about the condition of their practice field on Monday, six days before Super Bowl LVIII.
This is what the ESPN network learned.
The Niners are based at the University of Nevada, where they are preparing for their duel against the Kansas City Chiefs. The NFL installed a natural turf field on the institution's artificial turf field.
“We're working on this every day,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said on the subject on Monday.
“We sent 23 experts there, and the players' union was there too,” added the man whose comments were reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Everyone thought we could play on this surface. It's softer than what they're used to, but these things happen. All of our experts as well as the neutral inspectors unanimously stated that this is a playable field.”
The Chiefs, for their part, are based at the Las Vegas Raiders training center. They were given this privilege because they are considered the home team.
