49ers sign Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch to multi-year contract extensions – NBC Sports Bay Area

The 49ers are currently on the second-longest regular season winning streak in franchise history, and the good vibes continued Friday as the club announced multi-year contract extensions for coach Kyle Shanahan and general John Lynch.

The 49ers previously extended Shanahan through the 2025 season, while Lynch was extended through the 2024 season. The terms of their new contracts are not immediately known.

The 49ers improved their season mark to 3-0 with a 30-12 victory over the New York Giants at Levi’s Stadium on Thursday night.

The 49ers have now won 13 straight regular season games, dating back to Week 8 of last season. The organization’s longest regular season winning streak is 15 games, when the 49ers were undefeated from Week 12 of the 1989 to Week 10 of the 1990 season.

In their third season together, the 49ers were the No. 1 seed in the NFC and made it to Super Bowl LIV, where they lost 31-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs in Miami Gardens.

The 49ers have made it to the NFC Championship Game in each of the last two seasons.

After Shanahan-Lynch played three games in her seventh season, the 49ers have compiled a 55-46 regular-season record and a 6-3 postseason record.

Bill Walsh is the longest-tenured head coach in 49ers history. He coached the 49ers for ten seasons from 1979 to 1988.

Shanahan’s new contract will likely allow him to surpass three-time Super Bowl winner Walsh in the number of seasons at the helm of the organization.
