The weeks of only four working days at work has been an issue debated by many people, mainly to defend the productivity and wellbeing of the company’s employees. So a test called 4 Day Week Global invited 61 UK companies to take part in the experiment and implement the new working format. What do you think? Did it work or is it all just a big utopia?
In summary, we can say that 56 of these companies that started the test decided to continue using the format with only four working days. Around 18 companies on the list have already confirmed that this will be a permanent model, but without employee pay cuts.
The idea of the project was that the locations implement shorttime work without discounts for around 3,000 employees. Of course there are those who say this new model doesn’t work; However, during the 4dayaweek global tests, company revenue increased by about 35%. In addition, the number of absenteeism decreased and the wellbeing and productivity of the employees continued to increase.
The format has been discussed for a long time, especially after the pandemic. Because many companies have committed to the home office and talk a lot about the importance of quality of life for the employees in the company. In Brazil, the working day is currently 44 hours per week.
Less weekly working time increases wellbeing
One of the main arguments of shorttime work is the increase in the quality of life, which can be delivered to the employees of the company very easily. According to studies, in addition to wellbeing, mental and physical health as well as service satisfaction are among the main points that improve.
To further elaborate on the subject, an extra day off increased the use of physical exercises, leaving the employees in a much better state of health. Not to mention free time and selfsufficiency.
Organizations that also participated in the project rate the experience of the reduced workday with 85% satisfaction and also commend the positive impact of the employees during this participation.
